Getting Around Tbilisi

Tbilisi's historic Old Town is compact enough to explore on foot, while the cable car, metro and ride-hailing services make travelling around the wider city easier.

Walking Around Old Town

The historic Old Town is easy to explore on foot. Walk between the Abanotubani sulfur baths, traditional balconies, the Bridge of Peace and Rike Park. Some streets are cobbled or uphill, so comfortable walking shoes are useful.

Rike Park Cable Car

Take the cable car from Rike Park to the hill above the Old Town, near Narikala Fortress. It makes the uphill journey easier and provides impressive views across the river and historic neighbourhoods.

Tbilisi Metro

Tbilisi has an inexpensive metro system for travelling around the wider city. Liberty Square and Avlabari stations provide useful access to central sightseeing areas.

Ride-Hailing and Taxis

Ride-hailing apps are widely used in Tbilisi and offer a practical way to travel between neighbourhoods, particularly when distances or steep streets make walking less convenient.

02

Is Tbilisi walkable, or do I need transport?

The Old Town core is walkable on foot, with a cable car handling the climb towards Narikala Fortress.

05

Do I need a visa to visit Tbilisi?

Indian passport holders generally require a visa to visit Georgia, including Tbilisi, and may be eligible to apply for a Georgian e-Visa.

Some travellers holding qualifying visas or residence permits from specified countries may be exempt from a separate Georgian visa.

Roaming Legs assists with the visa process for bookings. Check the latest requirements on the official Georgia e-Visa portal before travelling.

06

When is the best time to visit Tbilisi?
