Uluwatu sits on the southwestern tip of the Bukit Peninsula — dramatic limestone cliffs dropping straight into the Indian Ocean. 

The views here are genuinely different from the rest of Bali. 

There is an openness to it, a scale, that makes everything feel bigger.

Pura Luhur Uluwatu is the clifftop temple, perched 70 metres above the ocean. 

The temple itself is impressive, but what couples come for is the moment when the sun starts setting and the whole cliff turns gold. 

Get there by 5 PM. 

The Kecak Fire Dance performance starts at 6 PM and runs until sunset — watching the fire dancers perform against a backdrop of the ocean going orange and then dark is one of those experiences that needs no filter. 

Tickets cost approximately ₹600–800 per person and sell out, so book the day before.

Thomas Beach and Bingin Beach sit below the cliffs — accessed via steep paths or steps, which keeps the crowds thinner. 

Thomas Beach is small, calm, and has a few good warungs.

Dinner at Single Fin (on the cliff above Uluwatu’s surf beach) is the most popular sunset drinking spot in this area — it gets crowded on weekends but the view justifies it. 

For a more intimate dinner, AYANA Resort’s Rock Bar is carved into a natural cave 14 metres above the Indian Ocean. 

Seats are limited, waits can be long, but the experience is genuinely worth planning for.

What it has is this: a long curved beach, a row of seafood restaurants right on the sand, and the ability to have dinner with your feet near the water while the sun goes down over the ocean.

The seafood dinner experience here is something genuinely worth doing. 

You choose your fish, crab, and prawns fresh from the display, it gets grilled right there, and you eat at a low table on the sand while the sky changes colour. 

The whole meal for two, including grilled fish, crab, prawns, rice, and drinks, runs approximately ₹2,500–5,000. 

Menega Cafe and Jimbaran Bay Seafood are the most reliable options. 

Book a table for 6 PM to catch the sunset from the beach.

One thing most guides miss: the stretch of Jimbaran beach in front of the big hotels (like Four Seasons Jimbaran Bay) is cleaner and less cluttered than the southern end. 

If you are not staying at a hotel there, you can still walk the beach and find a restaurant along it.

Nusa Penida: Not Relaxing, But Unforgettable

Nusa Penida is not a romantic destination in the traditional sense. 

There is no luxury, no smooth roads, no candlelit restaurants. 

What it has is a level of raw, dramatic natural beauty that is genuinely hard to find anywhere else.

Kelingking Beach — the T-Rex shaped cliff formation that appears on every Bali Instagram — is real and it does look exactly like that.

The walk down to the actual beach is extremely steep (45–60 minutes down, harder coming back up).

Diamond Beach is a short drive from Kelingking. 

The stairs down are steep but manageable.

Tegal Wangi is a small beach on the south coast, about 10 minutes from Jimbaran. 

It has natural rock pools formed by the low tide — real ones, not man-made. 

You sit in them while the sun goes down. 

It is not the most dramatic view in Bali. 

But the experience of being in a warm rock pool with the sky changing colors around you, with almost no one else nearby — that is something most famous beaches simply cannot give you.

There is no entry fee. 

No restaurant. 

No music. 

Just the two of you and the coastline.

Important: This beach is tide-dependent. 

The pools only work properly at low tide.

Tegallalang Rice Terraces — Go Early, Skip the Crowds

Everyone knows Tegallalang. 

The problem is most people show up at 10 AM and find it packed. 

Same fix: arrive by 7:30–8 AM.

Day 2 — Campuhan Ridge + Tegallalang + Ubud Palace

Campuhan Ridge Walk starts about 10 minutes from the center of Ubud — it’s a 3.5 km trail through open green hills above the Campuhan River. 

Best before 7:30 AM. 

After 8:30, tour groups arrive and the peaceful energy disappears. 

No entry fee, flat trail, takes about an hour.

After Campuhan, breakfast at your hotel or nearby café (Seniman Coffee Studio opens at 7 AM and makes some of the best coffee in Bali), then head to Tegallalang Rice Terraces — 25 minutes north of Ubud by driver. 

Entry ₹160. 

Go before 9 AM. 

The terraces are genuinely stunning — stacked on a hillside, with swing experiences for photos (₹2,500–₹3,500 per person) and cafes perched on the ridge. 

Kopi Desa café right there has good coffee and great views.

Afternoon: walk through Ubud’s Jl. Raya Ubud art market area (no entry, very browsable) and then Ubud Palace for ₹240. 

Evening dinner at Bridges Bali — a restaurant built into a river gorge, genuinely atmospheric, ₹3,000–₹5,000 for two.

Day 3 — Waterfall Morning + Couples Spa Afternoon

Tibumana Waterfall — 20 minutes from Ubud center, entry ₹240. 

Less crowded than Tegenungan (which is on every tour bus route), genuinely beautiful, best before 9 AM when the light hits the water. 

Bring clothes you don’t mind getting wet.

Day 7 — Beach Club Day

Bali’s beach clubs are a category of experience that most Indian couples haven’t had anywhere else.

Potato Head Beach Club (Seminyak) — no entry fee outside of sunset hours; during sunset (4:30–7 PM) there’s an IDR 250,000 entry (around ₹1,400) redeemable against food and drinks. 

Daybeds require a minimum spend of around IDR 1,000,000 (₹5,600). 

Go for the afternoon, order cocktails, eat well, watch the sunset from the pool. The crowd is international and relaxed.

Sunday’s Beach Club at Ungasan Clifftop Resort — if you want something more exclusive, this is it. 

You take a funicular down a cliff to a private beach. 

Minimum spend around ₹5,000–₹8,000 per couple including food. 

Worth the splurge for one full beach day.

Alternatively, skip the beach clubs and spend the morning at Balangan Beach — 15 minutes from Uluwatu, dramatic cliff backdrop, turquoise water, much less crowded. 

Entry ₹80. 

Warungs on the beach for lunch. 

It’s not flashy, but the setting is honestly better than most of the famous beaches.

Day 8 — Jimbaran Seafood Dinner + Easy Day

Keep this day light. 

Seminyak’s Petitenget area has good cafés for a slow morning — Revolver Espresso for coffee, Motel Mexicola for a lively lunch (loud, fun, great frozen margaritas).

Evening is the main event: Jimbaran Bay. 

Tables are set directly on the sand, waves 5 metres away, fresh grilled prawns, lobster, fish — ordered by weight, cooked to order.

Menega Café and Teba Mega Cafe are both reliable — full seafood spread for two runs ₹2,000–₹4,000 depending on what you order. 

Couples who skip Jimbaran almost always say they regret it.

Zone 3 — Nusa Penida or Gili T: Days 9–10 (The Island Escape)

Nusa Penida or Gili T — Which One Is Right for You?

Pick Nusa Penida if you want dramatic: Kelingking Beach (the iconic T-Rex cliff viewpoint), Angel’s Billabong, Broken Beach, Diamond Beach. 

Roads are rough — genuinely rough, not “a little bumpy” rough. Some viewpoints involve steep walking. 

If both of you are physically comfortable and enjoy adventure, it’s one of the most visually spectacular places in all of Southeast Asia.

Fast boat from Sanur Harbour: 35–45 minutes, ₹1,200–₹1,500 per person return. 

Book through your hotel or directly at Sanur — don’t overpay for a “tour package” boat if you’re organising your own driver on the island.

Pick Gili Trawangan if you want peace: white sand beaches, crystal water, no motorized vehicles (only bicycles and horse carriages), sea turtles while snorkeling, no noise after 11 PM. 

Slower, quieter, more genuinely relaxing. 

Better for couples where one person has knee or back issues — Nusa Penida’s roads and cliff walks are punishing.

Fast boat from Bali to Gili T: 1.

5–2 hours, ₹3,500–₹5,000 per person return.

One thing most guides miss: if you go to Nusa Penida, don’t try to swim at Angel’s Billabong. 

It looks swimmable in photos, but strong currents have resulted in multiple fatalities. 

Go for the views. The limestone arch over the turquoise water is extraordinary.

Day 9 — Island Day

On Nusa Penida:

Hire a local driver on the island for the day — fixed rate, ₹2,500–₹3,500, covers all main spots. 

Start at Kelingking Beach viewpoint before 8 AM. 

By 10 AM it’s shoulder-to-shoulder with tour groups. 

Entry is around ₹1,400 (IDR 25,000). 

The viewpoint itself is the experience — the hike down to the beach is steep and only for confident hikers.

After Kelingking: Angel’s Billabong (free entry, ₹560 parking), then Broken Beach (200 metres away, no extra fee) — a circular cove where the ocean broke through the rock, creating a natural infinity pool effect. 

Genuinely unlike anything else. 

Then Diamond Beach — dramatic cliffs and clear turquoise water below.

On Gili T:

Rent bicycles (₹250–₹400/hour) and circle the island — takes about 60–75 minutes, flat the whole way. 

Book a snorkeling trip through your accommodation (₹1,500–₹2,500 per person) — Gili T is one of the best places in Indonesia to see sea turtles in their natural habitat, not staged. 

Afternoon: hammock on the beach, fresh grilled fish at any beachside warung.
