Here is the problem with Bali tour packages from India.

One says ₹79,999 per person. The other says ₹89,999. You assume the cheaper one is the better deal — and then you land in Bali and spend ₹15,000 extra on things the other package had already covered.
This happens all the time.
And it happens because most travellers compare the headline price, not what is actually inside the package.
The real question before booking any Bali tour package from India is not “which is cheaper?”
It is “what am I actually getting for this price?”
This guide answers that.

The Four Types of Bali Packages Available from India
Before checking what is included, you need to know which type of package you are even looking at.
Not all Bali packages are structured the same way, and mixing them up is where most confusion starts.
Land-Only Package
This is the most common type sold by Indian travel agents.
It covers everything on the ground in Bali — hotel, airport transfers, sightseeing, and meals as specified — but flights are not included.
You book flights separately.
Land-only packages from India typically start at ₹35,000–₹55,000 per person for 5 nights depending on hotel category.
This option makes sense if you want to use reward points for flights or if you find a significantly cheaper fare on your own.
Package with Flights Included
A complete package where return airfare from your Indian city is bundled with the land arrangements.
These packages are priced higher upfront but are genuinely more convenient, especially for first-time international travellers who do not want to coordinate flights and hotels separately.
For a couple travelling from Delhi or Mumbai, a 5-night Bali package with flights included typically runs ₹1,20,000–₹1,80,000 in the mid-range segment.
The convenience of one payment and one point of contact is the real value here.
Honeymoon Package
Standard Bali packages with honeymoon-specific additions — flower bed decoration in the room on arrival, one candlelight dinner, and usually a couple spa session or a private transfer upgrade.
Some honeymoon packages also include a couple photoshoot.
The honest thing to know: these add-ons are real, but they are not always as elaborate as the photos on the brochure suggest.
Ask specifically what the candlelight dinner setup includes and at which restaurant or venue — otherwise you might get a decorated table at your hotel buffet rather than a private beach setup.
Luxury Villa Package
Private pool villa accommodation instead of a hotel room, private car and driver for all transfers and sightseeing, personalized itinerary, and usually a butler or in-villa dining option.
These packages start at ₹2,50,000 per couple and go significantly higher depending on the villa.
When we set up a Bali trip for a Mumbai couple in a private pool villa at Alaya Resort Ubud last December, the difference from a standard hotel package was not just the pool — it was the pace and the privacy.
Worth it for honeymoons and anniversaries if the budget allows.
What Is Actually Included in Most Standard Bali Tour Packages
Hotel Accommodation with Breakfast
Almost every standard package includes hotel stay with daily breakfast.
The hotel category matters enormously.
A “3-star hotel in Bali” in Kuta is a very different experience from a “3-star hotel in Seminyak” — same star rating, very different location and quality.
Always ask for the exact hotel name and check it on Google Maps before confirming.
Standard mid-range hotel names you can verify: Mercure Bali Legian, Prama Sanur Beach Bali, Harris Hotel Kuta Galleria, Swiss-Belresort Watu Jimbar.
For budget category: The Layar Studios Seminyak, Sun Island Hotel Kuta.
For 4-star and above: The Anvaya Beach Resort Bali, Padma Resort Legian, Mulia Resort Nusa Dua.
Breakfast is included in nearly all packages. Lunch and dinner are almost never included unless you are on a honeymoon or all-inclusive package — and even then, confirm how many meals.
Airport Transfers (Pick-Up and Drop)
Pick-up from Ngurah Rai International Airport on arrival and drop on departure day — this is standard in all legitimate Bali packages.
The detail to confirm: is it a private transfer (just your group, direct to hotel) or shared (van with multiple travellers, multiple stops)?
Private transfers feel significantly better, especially after a long flight with luggage. Shared transfers are fine but can add 45–90 minutes to your journey.
Many budget packages include shared transfers and charge extra for private.
Know which one you are getting before you land.
Inter-Hotel Transfers
If your package itinerary moves you between two areas — say, 3 nights in Seminyak and 2 nights in Ubud — the transfer between hotels should be included.
Verify this. Some packages quietly exclude inter-hotel transfers and assume you will book a taxi separately, which adds ₹1,500–₹2,500 per trip.
Sightseeing Tours
Most standard packages include 2–4 guided day tours.
Typical inclusions: Ubud full-day tour (Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Ubud Monkey Forest, Tirta Empul temple), Kintamani volcano viewpoint, Tanah Lot temple sunset visit, and basic water sports at Tanjung Benoa (usually banana boat and parasailing as one activity each).
The critical detail most people miss: are these tours shared or private?
Shared tours mean you join a group of 8–15 other travellers in a minivan, follow a fixed schedule, and stop at the same souvenir shops.
Private tours mean your own car and driver, your own timing, no forced shopping stops.
The difference in experience is significant.
Private sightseeing costs ₹3,500–₹5,000 more per couple per day but is almost always worth it.
Visa Assistance
Most Bali packages from India include guidance on the Visa on Arrival (VoA) process.
However, the actual visa fee is almost always excluded from the package cost.
The VoA for Indian passport holders costs IDR 500,000, which is approximately ₹2,700–₹2,900 at current exchange rates, payable at the immigration counter on arrival.
Since 2024, Bali also charges a mandatory Tourist Levy of IDR 150,000 (approximately ₹800) per person, which you pay online before arrival via the official Love Bali portal (lovebali.baliprov.go.id).
Some travel agents remind you about this. Many do not.

What Is NOT Included — The List Nobody Shows You Upfront
Flights (in Land-Only Packages)
The most commonly misunderstood exclusion. If you are booking a land-only package, flights are your responsibility.
Round-trip flights from India to Bali in 2026 range from ₹22,000–₹38,000 per person on connecting routes via Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, or Bangkok (there are currently no direct flights from India to Bali). IndiGo, AirAsia, and Scoot are popular for budget options; Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific for more comfortable connections. Total flying time is 8–12 hours depending on layover.
Book flights 60–90 days ahead to save ₹8,000–₹15,000 per person compared to last-minute fares.
Lunch and Dinner
Nearly every package includes only breakfast. Budget ₹800–₹2,000 per person per meal depending on whether you eat at local warungs (street restaurants) or tourist-facing restaurants. Street food at a warung runs ₹150–₹300 per meal.
A mid-range restaurant in Seminyak or Ubud runs ₹700–₹1,500 per person. Beach clubs like Ku De Ta or Potato Head add another ₹1,000–₹2,500 per person just for the experience.
For a 6-day trip, budget ₹8,000–₹15,000 per person for lunches and dinners, depending on how you eat.
Visa on Arrival Fee + Tourist Levy
As covered above — VoA costs approximately ₹2,700–₹2,900 per person and the Tourist Levy costs ₹800 per person.
Together, plan for ₹3,500–₹3,800 per person as mandatory government fees that almost no package includes in its headline price.
Travel Insurance
Almost never included. Bali is generally safe, but travel insurance matters for medical coverage, flight cancellations, and lost luggage.
Indian travel insurance for an international trip typically costs ₹800–₹2,000 per person for 7 days depending on coverage level. Do not skip this.
Activity Upgrades and Optional Experiences
The water sports included in most packages are basic — one banana boat ride, sometimes parasailing.
If you want jet ski, flyboard, snorkelling in Nusa Penida, ATV rides at Mason Adventures, or white-water rafting on the Ayung River, these are add-ons that cost ₹1,500–₹4,500 per activity per person.
Nusa Penida day trip — one of the most popular add-ons, covering Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, and Broken Beach — typically costs ₹2,500–₹3,500 per person including speedboat and guide and is worth every rupee.
Most standard packages do not include it; you either add it at the time of booking or pay locally.
Personal Expenses
Shopping at Kuta Beachwalk, spa treatments (a 60-minute Balinese massage costs ₹500–₹1,200 depending on the spa), minibar at the hotel, tips for drivers and guides (₹200–₹300 per day is normal), and incidental costs.
Budget ₹3,000–₹8,000 per person for the trip depending on your spending habits.
Peak Season Surcharge
Travelling in July, August, or December–January?
Most packages carry a peak season surcharge of ₹5,000–₹15,000 per person above the base price.
This is not always displayed prominently in the advertised rate. Ask about it before confirming dates.
The Hidden Costs That Actually Surprise People in Bali
We are not talking about scams — Bali is a safe destination.
These are legitimate costs that catch travellers off-guard because their agent did not mention them.
Villa Security Deposit: If your package includes a private villa, the property will ask for a refundable security deposit at check-in — typically IDR 500,000–IDR 2,000,000 (₹2,700–₹10,800). It is returned on checkout but you need to have the cash or card ready at arrival.
Early Check-In Charges: Most international flights from India land in Bali early morning — between 5 AM and 8 AM.
Standard hotel check-in is 2 PM or 3 PM. If you want your room immediately, the hotel charges an early check-in fee of IDR 200,000–IDR 500,000 (₹1,100–₹2,700).
A good agent will pre-arrange this; many do not.
Flight Fare Adjustment: If you booked a package with flights and the fare increases between booking and ticketing, some agents pass on the difference.
Always ask for confirmed ticketing within 48–72 hours of payment and get the airline PNR number before you consider the booking complete.
Shared vs Private Tour Difference: If your package says “sightseeing included” without specifying private, assume it is shared.
Upgrading from shared to private on the ground in Bali costs ₹3,000–₹5,000 per day. Better to clarify at the booking stage.
Restaurant-Style Entry Fees at Temples: Tanah Lot has an entry fee of IDR 60,000 (₹325). Besakih temple charges separately. Uluwatu temple entry is IDR 50,000 (₹270).
Some packages include these; others quietly exclude them. Ask.

How to Compare Two Bali Packages the Right Way
Stop comparing headline prices. Use this checklist every time.
Hotel clarity: Ask for the exact hotel name and area (Kuta, Seminyak, Ubud, Nusa Dua — location matters as much as star rating). Check it on Google Maps and TripAdvisor yourself.
Tour type: Shared or private sightseeing? This single factor changes the on-ground experience dramatically. Get it in writing.
Transfer type: Private or shared airport transfers? Private or shared inter-hotel transfers?
Meals: Breakfast only, or some lunches and dinners included? On how many days?
Flights: Included or land-only? If included, which airline, which routing, are bags included in the fare?
Visa guidance vs visa fee: Guidance is free. The visa fee itself (₹2,700–₹2,900 per person) must be paid separately at the airport unless explicitly stated it is included.
Peak season surcharge: Are you travelling July, August, or December? Ask upfront.
Cancellation and amendment policy: What happens if you need to change dates after booking? Is the policy in writing?
Payment proof: Do you receive hotel booking confirmations and airline PNR numbers, or just an agent’s word? Always ask for documentary proof.
Two packages at ₹1.2 lakh each can deliver very different trips. One might have a hotel in Kuta with shared tours and shared transfers.
The other might have a hotel in Seminyak with private tours and private transfers. The second is worth more — even at the same price.
Package vs Self-Planning — The Honest Comparison
This comes up in almost every conversation we have with first-time Bali travellers.
A package makes sense if: it is your first international trip, you want someone responsible for logistics, you are travelling as a couple or family and do not want to manage hotel bookings, transfer coordination, and sightseeing separately, or you are on a fixed budget and want no surprises.
Self-planning makes sense if: you are an experienced traveller, you enjoy flexibility, you are comfortable booking on Booking.com and Klook, and you want to be spontaneous with your itinerary.
The honest math: a well-constructed mid-range Bali package from a reliable agent often costs the same as or less than piecing everything together yourself — because agents get bulk rates on hotels and transfers that you cannot access as an individual.
Where self-planning wins is flexibility; you can change your plans any time.
Where packages win is convenience and cost certainty.
