The official portal says the fee is not refundable in that case, or if you are denied, or if you never use the visa.

What A Georgia Honeymoon Costs For Two
Your total has five parts.
- Package: priced per person, twin-sharing, so you pay two prices.
- Entry: two e-Visas and two insurance policies.

- Spending money: shopping, activities and extras in lari.
The formula is: (package × 2) + entry for two + tax and card charges + two flights + spending money.

All rupee figures use the National Bank of Georgia’s official rate: 100 INR = 2.7181 GEL and US$1 = GEL 2.6047.
That makes GEL 1 about ₹36.79 and US$1 about ₹95.83.

Entry Costs For Two Travellers
E-Visa Fees For A Couple
The official e-Visa FAQ states the fee as “20 USD + 2% service fee”.
That is US$20.40, or about ₹1,955 per person.
For two, it is about ₹3,910.
Wego’s guide, updated 29 April 2026, reports a separate US$15 DuVerify identity check, due within 24 hours.
The official FAQ does not list it, so confirm it on the portal when you apply.
With that check, the cost is about US$35.40 each, or about ₹6,785 for two.
Your card may add its own foreign-currency charge on top.
Each traveller needs a separate application, so one of you cannot apply for both on a single form.
Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
One of you can pay for both, because the portal does not require the card to be in the applicant’s name.
Your email verification expires in 1 hour, and payment must be made within 5 hours of the notification.
Miss either window and the application is cancelled.
The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.
Wego reports a stay of up to 30 days within a 120-day window.
Wego also says Indian passport holders with a currently valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, Schengen states, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea or the UAE can enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180.
If you qualify, you save the e-Visa cost, but not the insurance.
The Newlywed Name Trap
The portal lists three cases where the fee is lost: a denied application, an unused visa, and a mismatch between the visa and the travel document.
If your name changed after marriage, apply with the name printed in the passport you will fly on.
Enter a middle name after your given name with a space, and enter a single name in the surname field.
Your photo must be taken within the last 6 months and face the camera, with your head filling 50% to 70% of the frame height.
Use the same spelling on your hotel vouchers and insurance certificate.
At the border, your documents have to agree with each other.
Insurance For Two
Visit Georgia's explainer on the rule says every tourist needs cover of at least GEL 30,000 from 1 January 2026. That is about ₹11.04 lakh per person. It must cover your whole stay, from entry to departure.

Costs That Sit Outside The Price

Ask in writing whether your quote includes flights for both of you.

Tax, Cards And Cash For Two
The 2% TCS On A Couple’s Package
Standard Chartered’s notice on the revised rules says tax collected at source on overseas tour packages is a flat 2% on each remittance, with no threshold, from 1 April 2026.
KPMG’s Union Budget 2026-27 note confirms the cut, and Careers360 reports the old rates were 5% up to ₹10 lakh and 20% above.
On an illustrative ₹3,00,000 package for two, the tax is ₹6,000.
It is not a fee.
You claim it as a credit when you file your income tax return.
It still leaves your account on the day you pay, so ask for it as a separate line on the invoice.
Card Charges On Honeymoon Spending
SBI Card’s published terms list a foreign-currency markup of 3.5% on most cards, and 1.99% on a few premium ones.
GST is charged on top of fees.
Spend ₹60,000 in lari on a standard card and the markup is ₹2,100 before GST.
A cash advance costs 2.5% with a minimum of ₹500.
Finance charges of 3.75% a month on unsecured cards run from the withdrawal date.
A ₹10,000 withdrawal therefore costs ₹500, which is 5%, before finance charges.
SBI Card’s terms page carries no date, and other banks differ, so read your own card’s terms before you fly.
Cash Limits For Two
The RBI’s forex FAQ, updated 28 November 2025, allows foreign currency notes up to US$3,000 per person per visit.
For two, that is US$6,000, or about ₹5.75 lakh.
The rest must go on a card or as traveller’s cheques.
Forex bought for ₹50,000 or more must be paid for by cheque, draft or card, not cash.
Foreign exchange above US10,000,orforeigncurrencynotesaboveUS5,000, must be declared to Customs.
Unspent foreign currency must be surrendered within 180 days of your return, apart from US$2,000 you may keep.
In Georgia, Canada’s travel advice says you must declare more than GEL 30,000, about ₹11.04 lakh, to customs.
It also warns that cards may not be widely accepted in rural areas.
Keep some lari or dollars for the mountain leg.
What Georgia’s Own Data Says About Spending
Geostat’s 2025 inbound tourism release, published 30 January 2026, gives an average spend of GEL 2,187.3 per visit.
That is about ₹80,500, over an average stay of 5.6 nights.
It covers all nationalities and has no India-specific figure.
Treat it as a benchmark, not a budget for two.

Hospitals Ask For Payment First
Canada’s advice says medical services can be expensive and immediate cash payment is often required.
The GEL 30,000 minimum is a legal floor, not a plan.
Check that your policy covers hospital stays and evacuation, and keep the claim documents.
Winter Closures On The Kazbegi Leg
On 10 February 2026, Georgia’s Roads Department banned all vehicles on the Gudauri–Kobi section, kilometres 93 to 107, because of avalanche danger, Georgia Today reported.
It said the Mleta–Gudauri stretch was open only for non-stop transit.
Kazbegi sits beyond that stretch.
For a winter honeymoon, ask for the closure plan in writing, and ask who pays for an extra night if the road shuts.
The After-Midnight Landing
If you land after midnight, your first hotel night and your insurance start date are the landing date.
