And then someone mentions September, and suddenly it sounds like the season that doesn’t get enough credit.

We’ve been sending Indian couples to Bali for years. 

And the honest answer? September is the month we almost always recommend first — not because it’s a hidden gem or a secret nobody knows, but because it hits the right balance for what most newlyweds actually want. 

Good weather, fewer crowds at the places that matter most, and hotel prices that don’t sting the way they do in peak season.

What September Actually Feels Like in Bali

September is Bali’s dry season — technically the tail end of it, but you’d never know the difference on the ground. 

Temperatures run between 25°C and 29°C. You get bright mornings, blue skies through midday, and warm evenings that are genuinely comfortable for outdoor dinners.

Rain? It happens, but not in a way that wrecks plans. 

A short shower in the late afternoon, maybe 30–45 minutes, and then it’s done. 

The sky clears, the air cools down slightly, and everything smells fresh. 

Most couples we’ve sent in September don’t even get a full rain day — just the occasional interruption that honestly adds to the atmosphere when you’re sitting inside a villa with a jungle view.

The biggest thing September has over July and August: the crowd situation at the spots that matter.

At Tegallalang Rice Terrace, tour buses start piling in around 10 AM during peak months.

Getting There: Flights From India to Bali in September

IndiGo currently operates daily direct flights between Bengaluru and Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar), and launched a Mumbai–Denpasar daily route in late 2025.

Day 1 — Land, Settle, Seminyak Sunset Arrive into Ngurah Rai Airport, pre-arranged private transfer to your villa (book this before you land — airport taxis are chaos). Check in, rest, and head to Seminyak Beach around 5:30 PM for the sunset. Dinner at Merah Putih on Jl. Petitenget — one of the better fine dining spots in Seminyak, good for a first-night-in-Bali experience.

Day 2 — Seminyak Day: Beach + Culture Mix Morning at the beach before crowds arrive. Afternoon: drive up to Tanah Lot Temple — it’s 45 minutes from Seminyak and spectacular for late afternoon photos as the sun drops toward the ocean. Back in Seminyak by 7 PM for dinner at your villa or at La Favela if you want atmosphere.

Day 3 — Ubud Transfer + Campuhan Ridge Hire a private driver (around ₹2,500–₹3,500 for a full day) and head to Ubud in the morning. Stop at Tegenungan Waterfall on the way — it’s 30 minutes before Ubud, beautiful, and much less crowded in September before 9 AM. Afternoon: settle into your Ubud villa and do the Campuhan Ridge Walk at 5 PM for the golden hour. Sleep in, enjoy your villa, do a cooking class in the morning if you want (Paon Bali in Ubud is well-run and actually teaches you something), and spend the evening at a pre-booked candlelit beach dinner. For Ubud-based couples, Swept Away at COMO Uma Ubud does an excellent private riverside dinner. For those near Jimbaran, the beachfront seafood dinners on Jimbaran Bay are the classic Bali honeymoon experience — order in advance during shoulder season for a dedicated table.

Day 7 — Last Morning + Departure Don’t book an early flight if you can avoid it. Most villas allow 11 AM or 12 PM checkout. Spend the morning by the pool, pick up last-minute gifts at Ubud Art Market (easy to spend an hour there), and head to the airport with enough buffer for the Visa on Arrival queue on departure.

The September Bali Question Most People Have But Don’t Ask

“If September is so good, why does everyone talk about July and August?”

Because peak season content dominates search results. 

July–August packages are priced to move, marketed heavily, and associated with maximum activity. 

September doesn’t have a marketing campaign.

Here’s what the reality is: the couples we’ve sent in September consistently give us better feedback than the July–August groups. Not because the destination changes, but because they had space to actually feel the place. 

Less time queuing at Tanah Lot. More personal service at restaurants. 

Private drivers who aren’t juggling six bookings a day.

Not because March is perfect, but because they went in knowing what to expect, and they planned around it.

What’s the Weather Actually Like in Bali in March?

March is the tail end of Bali’s rainy season. 

And yes, there will be rain. 

But the way rain works in Bali is very different from what most Indian couples imagine.

The last two weeks of March are noticeably better than the first two. 

If your wedding is in mid-March and you’re leaving right after, you’re hitting Bali closer to the transition into dry season, and you’ll see more sunny windows.

This is actually where March quietly wins.

January has school breaks in several countries. 

December is peak madness. 

July and August? 

Don’t even ask about Tegallalang on a Saturday afternoon.

March sits in a sweet spot. 

The holiday rush has passed, and the dry season crowd hasn’t arrived yet.

At Tegallalang Rice Terraces, you can walk the paths before 8 AM and genuinely feel like you’re the only ones there. 

The famous Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud — normally packed by 9 AM — stays manageable until closer to 10. 

Uluwatu temple at sunset still draws a crowd, but nothing like it does in July.

Beach clubs in Seminyak and Canggu are lively but not suffocating. 

You’ll actually get a sunbed without booking three days ahead.

One thing couples consistently tell us — they remember March Bali for how unhurried it felt. 

They could eat at a restaurant without waiting, walk through Ubud Art Market without being jostled, and take sunset photos at Jimbaran without strangers photobombing every shot.

You are exhausted, happy, and finally ready to plan the honeymoon. 

And your dates fall somewhere in June, July, August, or September.

The problem? Everyone around you keeps saying: “Isn’t that monsoon time? 

Will Bali be rainy?”

Here’s the real answer — and it’s going to make your decision a lot easier.

What Indian Couples Get Wrong About Bali’s Weather

The confusion makes total sense. You live in India. 

You know what June looks like — Mumbai flooding, Delhi haze, waterlogged streets. Your instinct says, “If it’s monsoon in India, it must be monsoon everywhere.”

Bali doesn’t follow that rule.

Bali sits in Southeast Asia, not in the South Asian monsoon belt. 

Its weather follows a completely different seasonal pattern:

The upside is that June has Bali’s most spectacular cultural moment.

Galungan falls on June 17, 2026 — one of the most important festivals in Bali’s Hindu calendar.

Villages hold processions.

Indian passport holders need a visa for Bali — but the process is one of the easiest in Asia for Indian travelers.

Option 1: Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Ngurah Rai Airport You pay IDR 500,000 (approximately ₹2,800) at the airport visa counter after landing. 

It’s valid for 30 days. 

If you need to stay longer, you can extend it once for another 30 days at an immigration office in Bali. 

The queue at the airport can be long, especially on peak days — so factor 45–60 minutes for immigration on your arrival day.

Option 2: Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) — Recommended Apply online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, 1–2 weeks before travel. 

Upload your passport bio page, a passport photo, pay IDR 500,000 by card, and receive your QR-coded approval by email in 24–72 hours. 

At Ngurah Rai, e-VOA holders use a dedicated faster lane. 

For a honeymoon couple arriving after a long flight, this is the better option — you skip the queue and walk straight through.

Also note: Since February 2024, Bali charges a mandatory Tourist Levy of IDR 150,000 (approximately ₹750) per person, separate from your visa fee.

Don’t try to do anything else on arrival day — you’ve been traveling for 10+ hours.

Day 2 — Ubud: Rice Terraces, Art Villages, Waterfall Morning: Tegallalang Rice Terraces — arrive by 8 AM before the tour buses. The Bali Swing is right here if you want the photo. 

Then, Tegenungan Waterfall — 10 minutes from the rice terraces, worth the short walk down.

10 nights gives you 8 full days.

Which Area in Bali Is Actually Right for a Honeymoon?

Ubud and Seminyak get mentioned in every Bali article, but they’re built for completely different honeymoons, and most guides don’t tell you that clearly enough.

Ubud is jungle, rice terraces, and quiet. 

Komaneka at Bisma sits right above the Petanu river gorge and costs around ₹18,000–₹24,000 a night for a suite with a private plunge pool — it’s the one we book most often for couples who want to wake up to birdsong, not beach traffic. 

For something more budget-friendly with the same peaceful setting, Alaya Resort Ubud runs ₹9,000–₹13,000 a night and still gets you a pool and rice-field views.

Seminyak is Bali with makeup on — beach clubs, real espresso, sunset bars. 

The Oberoi, Beach Resort Bali in Seminyak is the honeymoon splurge here, roughly ₹35,000–₹55,000 a night, right on the sand. 

If that’s too much, W Bali – Seminyak offers a similar beachfront energy for ₹20,000–₹28,000 a night.

One thing most guides miss: Nusa Dua exists in almost every Bali comparison article, but it’s a resort enclave built for conferences and package tours — not where actual honeymooners in our bookings choose to stay. 

Skip it unless an all-inclusive resort is genuinely your priority.

In Krabi, Rayavadee is the honeymoon name that comes up again and again among couples who’ve been — private pool villas tucked into the cliffs at Railay, from roughly ₹28,000–₹40,000 a night.

There are a handful of direct flights on this route too, running closer to 8 hours nonstop, but seats fill fast in wedding season.

For Thailand, it’s a different story — Air India, IndiGo, Thai Airways, and VietJet Air all fly direct or near-direct to Bangkok, Phuket, or Krabi, typically 4 to 6 hours, with return fares often ₹18,000–₹32,000 in shoulder season. 

This is the single biggest reason Thailand feels “easier” for first-time international travelers — you land less exhausted, with more of your honeymoon week actually intact.

Is Bali or Thailand Safer and Easier for Indian Couples?

Both are genuinely safe for honeymooners, and neither requires advance visa paperwork done through an embassy visit.
