Direct Flights from India to Vietnam: Every Route, Every Airline, and What You Should Know Before Booking

Direct Flights from India to Vietnam: Every Route, Every Airline, and What You Should Know Before Booking

Let’s get straight to the question most people are actually asking.

“Can I fly directly from India to Vietnam without a stopover in Bangkok or Singapore?”

Yes — and it’s easier than most people think.

Direct flights between India and Vietnam now operate from six Indian cities, with fares that regularly start under ₹15,000 one-way.

The flight itself takes just 4 to 5.5 hours, which means you can leave Delhi in the morning and be eating pho in Hanoi by early afternoon.

That said, there’s a lot of confusion around what “direct” actually means here, which cities have true nonstop options, which airlines are worth booking with, and when to buy for the best price.

This guide cuts through all of it.

Which Indian Cities Have Direct Flights to Vietnam?

As of 2026, direct (nonstop) flights from India to Vietnam operate from six cities: New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Ahmedabad. The two arrival airports in Vietnam are Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi (HAN) and Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City (SGN).

Here’s the honest breakdown — because not every city gets equally good direct connectivity:

Delhi (DEL) → Hanoi (HAN) and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) Delhi has the strongest direct connectivity of any Indian city.

IndiGo, Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, and Air India all operate nonstop services from Indira Gandhi International Airport.

On the Delhi–Hanoi route alone, there are around 36 direct flights per week as of July 2026. Flight time: approximately 4 hours 10 minutes.

One-way fares currently start around ₹10,682–₹17,000 depending on the airline, date, and how far ahead you book.

Mumbai (BOM) → Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) and Hanoi (HAN) Mumbai has solid direct options, primarily with VietJet Air and Vietnam Airlines on the Ho Chi Minh City route, and connecting options to Hanoi.

The Mumbai–Ho Chi Minh City nonstop takes about 4 hours 55 minutes.

VietJet Air operates this route with some of the lowest base fares you’ll find — one-way tickets from ₹10,108 have been found on Google Flights in the last 30 days.

Round-trip fares on this route typically run ₹22,000–₹35,000.

Kolkata (CCU) → Hanoi (HAN) IndiGo operates direct flights from Kolkata (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport) to Hanoi.

This is great news for travelers from eastern India — no need to first fly to Delhi or Mumbai.

Round-trip fares from Kolkata to Hanoi with IndiGo start around ₹22,000.

Bengaluru (BLR) → Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) VietJet Air connects Kempegowda International Airport directly to Ho Chi Minh City.

Flight time is around 6 hours 25 minutes. One-way fares start around ₹16,329.

Hyderabad (HYD) → Hanoi (HAN) Vietnam Airlines and IndiGo operate on this route.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport connects to Noi Bai in approximately 5 hours 55 minutes, with one-way fares from around ₹16,801.

Ahmedabad (AMD) → Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City VietJet Air and select other carriers operate from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport.

Options are more limited than Delhi or Mumbai, but direct connectivity does exist.

One thing worth knowing: if you’re flying from Chennai, Pune, Jaipur, Chandigarh, or any Tier-2 city, a nonstop to Vietnam almost certainly doesn’t exist yet.

You’ll connect — the question is just whether that stopover is in Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Singapore.

The Airlines: Which One Should You Actually Book?

Four airlines dominate India–Vietnam direct routes in 2026. Here’s what each one is actually like for Indian travelers:

IndiGo India’s largest airline by market share, and for most Indian travelers flying to Vietnam, the most familiar option.

IndiGo operates direct flights on the Delhi–Hanoi, Kolkata–Hanoi, and Hyderabad–Hanoi routes. Base fares are competitive.

Baggage policy: 15 kg check-in, 7 kg cabin for international — check if your fare includes bags because the cheapest tickets often don’t.

Meals are paid add-ons. Reliable, no-frills, on-time more often than not.

VietJet Air Vietnam’s largest low-cost carrier and the most frequent direct operator from India. Flies Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Base fares are often the cheapest you’ll find — sometimes under ₹10,000 one-way — but the VietJet model means zero-checked-baggage included unless you pay for it.

Always calculate the total cost with your baggage weight before assuming VietJet is cheaper.

Check-in desks can be strict about weight limits, so don’t pack tight.

Vietnam Airlines The national carrier of Vietnam, and the full-service option on this route.

Operates direct services from Delhi and Mumbai.

Complimentary meals included, baggage typically 23 kg for economy.

Fares are higher than IndiGo or VietJet but you’re getting a noticeably different in-flight experience.

Worth it for families, older travelers, or anyone who dislikes the nickel-and-diming of low-cost carriers on long international routes.

Air India Launched direct Delhi–Hanoi service in May 2026 as part of its Tata Group-led international expansion, making it the newest entrant on this route.

Also operates Delhi–Ho Chi Minh City.

Full service, Tata-era cabin, complimentary meals.

Fares for Air India on this route currently start around ₹10,930 one-way from Delhi — competitive for a full-service product.

Vietnam Visa for Indian Travelers: What You Must Do Before You Fly

This is the one thing that catches Indian travelers off-guard because Vietnam is not visa-free for Indian passport holders.

You need a visa before entering Vietnam.

There’s no visa on arrival at the airport without pre-approval.

The good news is the process is completely online and fast.

The e-Visa (recommended for most travelers): Apply at the official Vietnam government e-visa portal: evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn.

Do not use third-party lookalike websites charging extra — the official portal is direct and straightforward.

  • Fee: USD 25 (~₹2,100) for single entry, USD 50 (~₹4,200) for multiple entry
  • Validity: up to 90 days
  • Processing time: 3–5 working days
  • Documents needed: passport bio page scan, recent passport photo (4×6 cm, white background, no glasses), travel itinerary
  • Entry ports: accepted at all major Vietnamese airports (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Phu Quoc) and 16 land crossings

One thing to check carefully: when you apply for the e-Visa, you select your entry port.

The visa is fixed to that port — if your e-Visa says Hanoi Noi Bai and your flight lands at Ho Chi Minh City, you’ll face problems.

Double-check your flight details match the port you select.

Phu Quoc exception: Indian tourists visiting Phu Quoc island directly (and staying there without going to mainland Vietnam) can enter without a visa for up to 30 days.

If your trip is Phu Quoc-only, you can skip the visa process.

Connecting Flights: When They Make More Sense Than Direct

Direct flights are usually the right call for Delhi and Mumbai travelers.

But for some Indian cities, a well-chosen one-stop can actually save money and give you more scheduling flexibility.

The most popular connecting hubs for India–Vietnam are Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi), Kuala Lumpur (KLIA), and Singapore (Changi).

Airlines like Thai Airways, AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, and Singapore Airlines operate these connections.

Total journey time on a one-stop is typically 7–10 hours depending on the layover.

If you get a 4–6 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, that’s actually a reasonable mini-stop rather than a stress point — KLIA and Changi are easy, well-connected airports to navigate.

For travelers from Chennai, Pune, Jaipur, Amritsar, or Hyderabad where direct options are limited or expensive, checking AirAsia via Kuala Lumpur or Scoot via Singapore can yield round-trip fares of ₹25,000–₹40,000 that beat the one-stop-at-Delhi-first option on both price and total travel time.

Which Vietnamese Airport to Fly Into: Hanoi vs Ho Chi Minh City

This decision shapes your entire trip — get it right before you book.

Fly into Hanoi (Noi Bai International Airport — HAN) if: You want to explore North Vietnam — the Old Quarter, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, Sapa, or Ha Giang.

Hanoi is the cultural and historical capital.

Most northern Vietnam itineraries start here. From Noi Bai, it’s about 30 km to the city center (45–60 minutes by taxi, ~₹900–₹1,200).

Fly into Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport — SGN) if: You want South Vietnam — the Mekong Delta, Cu Chi Tunnels, Da Lat, Mui Ne, or Phu Quoc.

HCMC is also the better starting point if you’re doing a fly-in-fly-out trip with limited time.

Tan Son Nhat is 8 km from the city center.

Doing both North and South? Many Indian travelers do an open-jaw booking — fly into Hanoi, travel south overland or by domestic flights, and exit from Ho Chi Minh City.

Domestic flights between Hanoi and HCMC cost ₹1,500–₹4,000 one-way and take 2 hours.

This is often cheaper and more efficient than backtracking.

Testimonials from Indian Travelers

Suresh and Meena Iyer, Bengaluru — December 2025 “We’d been putting off Vietnam for years thinking the flights were complicated.

Then we found a direct VietJet from Bengaluru to Ho Chi Minh City for under ₹18,000 round trip during a sale.

6.5 hours total.

We were in Hoi An by the next morning.

Wish we’d done this five years ago.”

Priya Chandrasekaran, Delhi — March 2026 “The IndiGo Delhi–Hanoi direct is genuinely excellent value.

Left at 5 AM, was at my Hanoi hotel by 11 AM local time.

Vietnam Airlines on the return was even better — proper meal, more legroom.

Would do this again without thinking twice.”

Direct Flights from India to Bali in 2026 — The Real Picture, City by City

Direct Flights from India to Bali: Routes & Airlines Guide

Almost every Indian traveler planning a Bali trip asks the same thing upfront: “Is there a direct flight?”

And the answer is not a simple yes or no — it depends entirely on which city you are flying from.

Some cities have genuine non-stop flights to Bali right now.

Most cities do not, and you will connect through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Bangkok.

That is not a problem — but you need to know the difference so you book the right flight and do not get surprised by a 14-hour itinerary when you expected an 8-hour one.

Here is the honest, city-by-city breakdown.

Which Indian Cities Have Direct Flights to Bali?

As of July 2026, these are the routes with confirmed non-stop service to Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), Bali:

Delhi (DEL) → Bali (DPS) Air India operates a daily non-stop flight from Indira Gandhi International Airport to Denpasar.

Flight time is approximately 7 hours 30 minutes.

This is the most reliable and consistent direct route from India to Bali.

IndiGo also operates on this route seasonally — worth checking if you want a budget option on the same non-stop path.

Bengaluru (BLR) → Bali (DPS) IndiGo operates a daily non-stop flight from Kempegowda International Airport.

Flight time is approximately 6 hours 30 minutes — making this the shortest India-to-Bali connection available.

If you are flying from South India and your home airport is Bengaluru or you are close to it, this is genuinely one of the most convenient routes in the India-Bali network.

Chennai (MAA) → Bali (DPS) IndiGo operates year-round direct flights from Chennai International Airport.

Flight time is approximately 5 hours 30 minutes — actually the shortest in terms of air time because of Chennai’s geographic position.

Worth checking availability on specific dates, as schedules can vary.

Bhubaneswar (BBI) → Bali (DPS) IndiGo operates year-round direct flights from Biju Patnaik International Airport.

This is a lesser-known route but genuinely useful if you are traveling from Odisha or Eastern India and want to avoid an unnecessary domestic connection to Delhi or Mumbai.

Mumbai (BOM) → Bali (DPS) Mumbai has seasonal direct flights — IndiGo operates them during peak travel periods.

When available, flight time is approximately 8 hours.

Outside peak season, Mumbai travelers typically connect through Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.

What this means in practice: If you are flying from Delhi, Bengaluru, or Chennai, a true non-stop to Bali is available today.

For Mumbai it depends on the season.

For every other Indian city — Hyderabad, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Kochi, Chandigarh, and so on — you will have one stop.

If You Are Connecting — Which Hub Should You Choose?

Most Indian travelers will go through one of three Southeast Asian hubs: Singapore (SIN), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), or Bangkok (BKK).

Each works differently.

Here is what you actually need to know.

Via Singapore (Changi Airport — SIN)

Airlines: Singapore Airlines, Scoot (Singapore Airlines’ budget arm)

Typical total travel time: 10–12 hours including layover

Typical layover: 2–5 hours at Changi

Changi Airport is genuinely one of the best airports in the world to transit through.

Clean, fast, well organized.

If your layover is over 5 hours, Singapore Airlines offers a free city tour for transit passengers — you actually get to spend time in Singapore at no extra cost.

The SIN–DPS leg takes about 2 hours 20 minutes, which is one of the shortest final legs to Bali.

Best for: Travelers who want a comfortable connecting experience and do not mind paying slightly more.

Singapore Airlines especially is a full-service airline — meals included, good legroom, reliable service.

Return fare range: ₹35,000 – ₹65,000 per person (economy, from major Indian metros, off-peak)

Via Kuala Lumpur (KLIA2 — KUL)

Airlines: AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines, Batik Air

Typical total travel time: 9–11 hours including layover

Typical layover: 2–5 hours at KLIA2

Kuala Lumpur is consistently the cheapest routing from India to Bali.

AirAsia is the main budget player — available from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Kochi, and more.

KLIA2 (the budget terminal) is functional but basic — nothing like Changi. If the layover is short (2-3 hours), it is fine.

If you have 5+ hours, it gets dull.

One thing to be careful about with AirAsia: base fares look very low but meals, checked baggage, and seat selection are all add-ons.

Always add the extras before comparing with other airlines — the all-in price can look different from the advertised fare.

Best for: Budget-conscious travelers who want to minimize the flight cost and do not mind a no-frills airport experience.

Return fare range: ₹16,000 – ₹35,000 per person (economy, off-peak, all-in including baggage)

Via Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi — BKK)

Airlines: Thai Airways, Thai AirAsia, VietJet Air

Typical total travel time: 10–13 hours including layover

Typical layover: 3–6 hours at Suvarnabhumi

Bangkok is the middle-ground option — usually slightly cheaper than Singapore but more comfortable than KLIA2. Thai Airways is full-service.

Thai AirAsia is budget.

VietJet occasionally has attractive fares too, though it is an ultra-low-cost carrier with similar add-on structure to AirAsia.

Suvarnabhumi Airport is large and has decent food and lounge options for a layover.

The BKK–DPS leg takes about 4 hours.

Best for: Travelers where Singapore and KL flights are both expensive or unavailable on their preferred dates.

Also a natural option if you want to extend the trip with a Bangkok stopover on the way out or back.

Return fare range: ₹22,000 – ₹42,000 per person (economy, off-peak)

Booking TipOne-stop flights via Kuala Lumpur often offer the best value. For travel during June, July, or December, booking at least 2 to 3 months ahead can make a significant difference in price.

What counts as peak season for flights to Bali from India:

  • December 15 – January 10 (Christmas, New Year, winter holidays)
  • Late June – early August (school summer holidays)
  • Diwali week (October/November)

What counts as off-peak (cheapest fares):

  • February and March (after New Year holiday crowd, before summer)
  • October (after festive season, before December peak)
  • Shoulder months of May and September

One thing most articles will not tell you: connecting flights via Kuala Lumpur are sometimes 20–30% cheaper than a direct Delhi–Bali flight, even accounting for the extra travel time.

If you are price-sensitive and the 2–3 extra hours of transit do not bother you, a KL connection from any major Indian city can genuinely save ₹6,000–₹15,000 per person on the return fare.

When to Book Your India–Bali Flight

There are a few timing rules that consistently work:

For off-peak travel (February, March, September, October): Book 40–60 days in advance.

Waiting longer than this rarely helps on these months and can sometimes push prices up.

For peak travel (December–January, July–August): Book 90–120 days in advance.

For December specifically — especially the 21st December to 7th January window — fares go up sharply even at 90 days.

The earlier you lock this in, the better.

The cheapest individual day to fly: Generally Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Friday and Sunday departures are almost always the most expensive.

If your honeymoon or holiday dates are flexible even by one or two days, shifting from a Friday to a Wednesday departure can save ₹3,000–₹6,000 per person on the same route.

Set a fare alert: Bali fares from India are dynamic.

On Google Flights or MakeMyTrip, you can set an alert for your specific route and travel dates.

When the fare drops, you get a notification.

This takes two minutes to set up and can save you real money without constantly checking prices.

One more thing: If you are flying with AirAsia or any other budget carrier via Kuala Lumpur, always price the all-in fare — base price plus checked baggage (usually 20kg) plus a meal if you want one plus seat selection.

The displayed base fare can be ₹8,000 per person but the all-in price can be ₹16,000.

Both are still reasonable, but compare apples to apples with full-service airlines like Air India or Singapore Airlines which include meals and baggage in the ticket price.

Final Tips for Booking Flights to Bali

The Last Leg: Arriving at Bali’s Ngurah Rai Airport

All international flights from India land at Ngurah Rai International Airport (airport code: DPS) near Denpasar.

It is Bali’s only international airport.

A few things to know for a smooth arrival:

Visa on Arrival: Indian passport holders need a Visa on Arrival.

Cost is IDR 500,000 (~₹2,800 per person).

You pay at the VOA counter after immigration.

Alternatively, apply for an e-VOA online before you fly at molina.imigrasi.go.id — same cost, same process, but you skip the queue and go straight to the immigration counter.

If you land on a busy day (like a Saturday afternoon in peak season), the VOA queue can take 30–45 minutes.

The e-VOA takes 5 minutes. Apply before travel.

Bali Tourist Levy: Separate from the visa — IDR 150,000 (~₹800 per person), paid online before arrival at lovebali.

baliprov.go.id. Keep the payment confirmation on your phone.

Getting out of the airport: Pre-book your hotel transfer before landing, especially if you are arriving late at night.

Taxis and rideshare apps like Grab work from the airport, but having a confirmed private transfer waiting for you is much smoother, especially on a honeymoon or family trip.

Distance to main areas: Seminyak is about 20 minutes from the airport.

Ubud is about 1 hour. Nusa Dua is 30 minutes.

Expect ₹16,000 to ₹40,000 per person during off-peak months and ₹40,000 to ₹75,000 during peak travel periods.

5. Direct or connecting flight?

Choose a direct flight from Delhi or Bengaluru if available. Singapore offers the smoothest connection, while Kuala Lumpur is usually the cheapest.

6. How long is a connecting flight?

Total journey time is generally 9 to 13 hours depending on the transit airport and layover.

7. Do I need a transit visa?

Usually no for standard airside transits through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, or Bangkok. Always verify current airline and immigration rules.

8. Is there a direct Mumbai flight?

Seasonally. Otherwise, most travellers connect via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur.

9. What is Ngurah Rai Airport like?

It is modern and efficient. An e-VOA helps reduce waiting time. Carry your hotel booking and return ticket.

10. When should I book?

Book 40 to 60 days in advance for off-peak travel and 90 to 120 days ahead for December and July to August.

11. Is AirAsia a good option?

Yes, especially for budget travellers. Remember that baggage, meals, and seat selection are usually extra.

12. Can I visit Bali in 5 days?

Yes. Overnight flights help maximize your holiday, especially if staying in one or two areas.

13. Should I apply for an e-VOA?

Yes. It costs the same as the Visa on Arrival but saves time by avoiding airport queues.

14. Which Indian city is best?

Bengaluru and Chennai offer the shortest non-stop routes, while Delhi also has excellent direct connectivity.

15. Package or separate flights?

Packages are convenient for first-time visitors and honeymooners. Independent booking offers greater flexibility.

Which Indian Cities Have Direct Flights to Dubai?

As of 2026, direct flights to Dubai operate from at least 19 Indian cities.

The busiest ones are:

Delhi is the most connected city, with 108 direct flights per week to Dubai — more than any other Indian city.

Multiple airlines fly this route daily, which also means more competition and often better prices.

Mumbai has the shortest flight time (around 3 hours) and also sees very high daily frequency.

If you’re flying out of Mumbai, you’ll rarely struggle for options.

Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Chennai all have solid direct connectivity — usually 5–8 flights per day.

Good enough that you won’t have to work around a single awkward timing.

Kochi has strong UAE connectivity because of the large Keralite expat community.

Expect frequent flights, especially on Air India Express and Air Arabia.

Ahmedabad, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Amritsar, Goa, and Varanasi also have direct or near-daily nonstop flights depending on the season.

New in 2026: Air India launched direct flights from Guwahati to Dubai starting August 4, 2026 — the first-ever nonstop service from Assam to the UAE.

Which Airlines Fly Direct from India to Dubai?

There are seven airlines you’ll come across when searching for India-Dubai nonstop flights.

Here’s what each one is actually like:

Emirates

Emirates is the airline most people default to for Dubai — and honestly, for good reason.

The service is genuinely good: decent food, solid entertainment, generous 30kg baggage, and you land directly at Dubai International Airport (DXB) which is close to most hotels and attractions.

Economy fares from Delhi or Mumbai typically run ₹20,000–₹45,000 return.

Business class is expensive but widely regarded as one of the better longhaul business products.

The catch: Emirates fares are usually 30–50% higher than IndiGo or Air India Express for the same route.

If budget matters, they’re not always the answer.

IndiGo

IndiGo has become one of the most popular choices for India-Dubai purely because of price.

One-way fares from Delhi can go as low as ₹11,000–₹14,000 if you book a few weeks ahead.

The experience is no-frills: no free meal, baggage is charged separately (usually ₹1,500–₹2,500 for 20kg checked bag), and the seat pitch is tight.

But the flights are usually on time, and for a 3.5-hour flight, most people find that completely acceptable.

49% of Indian travelers flying to Dubai pick Emirates.

But if you’re paying for flights yourself and not on a company account, IndiGo is worth checking first.

Air India

Air India is the middle ground — better service than IndiGo, cheaper than Emirates.

You get a meal, decent baggage allowance, and the airline has strong connectivity across India, which matters if you’re flying in from a smaller city.

Air India Express

Air India Express is Air India’s low-cost arm and operates a LOT of routes to Dubai, especially from South India: Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Chennai.

Fares are competitive, the flights run frequently, and the experience is fine for a short flight.

flydubai

flydubai is Dubai’s own budget airline and flies from several Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and more.

Fares are genuinely low, the airline is reliable, and the new aircraft have decent legroom even in economy.

Worth checking if Emirates fares look too steep.

SpiceJet

SpiceJet flies to Dubai from Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, and a few other cities.

Fares can be cheap but do compare carefully — once you add baggage, the price gap with other airlines narrows.

Air Arabia

Air Arabia, UAE’s low-cost carrier, flies from several Indian cities to Sharjah (not Dubai International, but very close).

If you’re flexible about the final airport, Air Arabia can save you money.

Sharjah to central Dubai is about a 30–45 minute drive.

How Long Does the Direct Flight Take?

One of the things that makes Dubai so popular among Indian travelers is how short the flight actually is. You are not flying 10 hours to the US or 8 hours to Europe. This is 3–4.5 hours, which is comfortable even in economy without much fuss.

From To Flight Time
Mumbai Dubai (DXB) ~3 hrs
Delhi Dubai (DXB) ~3 hrs 30 min
Ahmedabad Dubai (DXB) ~3 hrs 30 min
Hyderabad Dubai (DXB) ~3 hrs 40 min

Final Tips for Booking Direct Flights to Dubai

What’s the Cheapest Time to Book Flights from India to Dubai?

This is the one question almost everyone asks, and the honest answer is: it depends on your city, but there are patterns.

Book 4–8 weeks in advance. Prices on India-Dubai routes tend to be lowest when you book about a month out.

Booking too far ahead (like 4–5 months) doesn’t always guarantee the best price on this route — airlines often release discount fares closer to departure to fill empty seats.

September and October are the cheapest months to fly. Dubai summer (June–August) is scorching and that actually keeps demand lower — so return fares in September from Delhi can drop to ₹14,000–₹18,000.

October is also good value before the November–January peak season hits.

Avoid December–January and school holidays. Fares spike during winter break (mid-December to early January), Diwali long weekends, and Eid holidays.

Expect to pay 40–70% more than off-peak.

Saturday is statistically the cheapest day to fly to Dubai, according to fare data from KAYAK.

Midweek (Tuesday–Wednesday) departures also tend to be cheaper than Fridays and Sundays.

Set price alerts on Google Flights or Skyscanner. Both let you track a specific route and alert you when prices drop. It’s free and takes 2 minutes.

The India-Dubai route fluctuates regularly, and an alert has caught people ₹4,000–₹6,000 drops on round trips.

Budget vs Full-Service: Which Should You Pick?

There’s no universal right answer — it depends on what you care about.

Pick a budget airline (IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India Express, flydubai) if:

  • You’re traveling carry-on only or packing light
  • You want to spend more money on the actual Dubai experience
  • Flight time is under 4 hours (which most India-Dubai routes are)
  • You don’t care about meals onboard

Pick a full-service airline (Emirates, Air India, Vistara) if:

  • You’re checking in luggage (the included baggage allowance often offsets the higher ticket price)
  • You value meal, legroom, and entertainment for even a short flight
  • You’re flying business class or with young children
  • You’re a frequent flyer accumulating miles

One thing worth calculating: on IndiGo, a checked bag (20kg) costs around ₹1,500–₹2,500 one way. If you need bags both ways, that adds ₹3,000–₹5,000 to the ticket price. On Emirates economy, you get 30kg included. Do the math before assuming the cheap ticket is actually cheaper.

Practical Things to Know Before You Fly to Dubai

Visa: Indian passport holders need a UAE visa. You can apply online through the official ICA UAE website or through Emirates if you’re flying with them.

Visa on arrival is not available for Indians. Apply at least 5–7 working days before travel.

Cost: approximately ₹4,500–₹6,000 for a 30-day single-entry tourist visa.

Airport: Almost all India-Dubai direct flights land at Dubai International Airport (DXB).

It’s one of the world’s busiest airports — Terminal 3 is used by Emirates and is extremely well organized.

Metro connects directly to central Dubai from the airport.

Currency: UAE Dirham (AED). 1 AED = approximately ₹23–₹24. You don’t need to carry cash — Dubai is extremely card-friendly and has ATMs everywhere.

But carry some Dirhams for small purchases, taxis, and tips.

Best time to visit Dubai: October to April is the sweet spot — weather is pleasant (25–30°C), events are active, and the city is buzzing.

May to September is extremely hot (40–45°C) but hotels are significantly cheaper and indoor attractions still make it worth considering.

SIM card: Get a du or Etisalat SIM at the airport on arrival. A 7-day tourist SIM with data runs about AED 50–75 (₹1,200–₹1,800).

You can also activate an eSIM before departure if your phone supports it.

What is the cheapest direct flight from India to Dubai right now?

It is one of the most popular budget choices for Indian travelers flying to Dubai.

IndiGo is usually better for travelers looking for lower fares, especially for shorter flights with limited luggage.

Direct connectivity from smaller Indian cities changes frequently based on airline schedules and demand.

Travelers should check the latest airline schedules before booking, especially for newly launched routes.

Mumbai flights take around 3 hours, while flights from cities farther east can take around 4–4.5 hours. Most Indian cities fall between 3 and 4 hours.

No. A nonstop flight takes you directly to Dubai, where you complete UAE immigration.

A transit visa is only relevant when your journey includes a stop in another country where you need to leave the airport transit area.

Baggage allowance depends on your airline and fare type.

Emirates economy tickets commonly include checked baggage, while budget airlines may charge separately for checked luggage. Always check baggage rules before booking because extra baggage fees can change the total trip cost.

Flying from India to Vietnam? Here’s What Most Travelers Get Wrong About Airlines, Routes, and When to Book

Best Flights from India to Vietnam: Routes, Airlines & Travel Tips

A lot of Indians still assume Vietnam needs a long, tiring connection via Bangkok or Singapore.

That was true a few years ago.

In 2026, it’s not.

Right now, you can fly direct from Delhi to Hanoi in about 4 hours — shorter than a Delhi-to-Goa train. Four airlines compete on this route, which is great for fares. But here’s where most people waste money: they don’t know which cities have direct flights, which airline actually makes sense, and when to book. Timing alone can save you ₹8,000–₹12,000 per person on a return ticket.

No fluff — just what you need to know before you book.

Does India Have Direct Flights to Vietnam?

Yes — and this has improved a lot recently.

As of 2026, four airlines operate direct (non-stop) flights from India to Vietnam: Vietnam Airlines, VietJet Air, IndiGo, and Air India.

All four connect Indian cities to Vietnam’s two main airports — Hanoi (Noi Bai) and Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat).

The cities with direct connectivity right now are Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.

If you’re flying from Bangalore, Chennai, or Hyderabad, you’ll need a connecting flight — though fares from these cities are often lower, so it’s worth comparing both options.

Here’s a quick overview of which routes are currently running direct:

Which Airline Should You Choose?

This depends on what matters to you — budget or comfort.

Let’s break it down honestly.

VietJet Air — Best for Budget Travelers

VietJet is a Vietnamese low-cost carrier and it’s become genuinely popular with Indians.

They fly from Delhi and Mumbai to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, and their base fares are usually the lowest on the route — one-way tickets from Mumbai to Hanoi have been listed as low as ₹7,800–₹8,500 during sale periods.

The catch: meals and checked baggage cost extra.

So if you’re travelling with 20 kg luggage and want food on the flight, add about ₹1,500–₹2,500 to that base price.

Still cheap, but factor it in before you compare with full-service options.

IndiGo — Best for Delhi and Kolkata Travelers

IndiGo now flies daily from Delhi to Hanoi, plus routes from Kolkata to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

As India’s largest low-cost airline, they’re reliable with schedules and their app makes rebooking easy.

Like VietJet, IndiGo charges separately for meals and baggage.

Fares from Kolkata to Hanoi are often very competitive — sometimes as low as ₹10,000–₹13,000 one-way — because Kolkata is geographically the closest major Indian city to Vietnam.

Vietnam Airlines — Best for Full-Service at Reasonable Prices

Vietnam Airlines is the national carrier of Vietnam.

They fly from Delhi to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and are known for reliable service, included meals, and good baggage allowance (typically 23 kg included).

If you want the comfort of a full-service airline without paying Singapore Airlines prices, Vietnam Airlines is usually the right pick.

Fares here typically run ₹14,000–₹22,000 one-way, depending on how early you book and the season.

Air India — Best for Comfort + Loyalty Points

Air India’s Delhi–Hanoi launch in May 2026 was big news for Indian travelers who want a full-service experience but prefer flying an Indian airline.

They offer good baggage allowance, included meals, and earn Flying Returns miles.

Fares are on par with Vietnam Airlines.

If you’re a frequent flyer and accumulate Air India or Star Alliance miles, this is worth considering.

Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways, Malaysia Airlines — For Connecting Flights

If you’re flying from Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, or Pune — cities without direct Vietnam connections — these are your main options.

Singapore Airlines goes via Changi, Thai Airways via Bangkok, and Malaysia Airlines via Kuala Lumpur. Total journey adds 3–5 hours, but fares can be lower.

Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, or Da Nang — Which Airport Should You Land In?

This is actually one of the most important decisions you make before booking, and most people decide after booking (which is too late).

Land in Hanoi (Noi Bai International Airport — HAN) if: You want to see North Vietnam first. Hanoi, Ha Long Bay, Ninh Binh, and Sapa are all most easily accessed from here.

A Ha Long Bay cruise is about 4 hours from Noi Bai Airport.

Land in Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport — SGN) if: You’re starting with South Vietnam — the Mekong Delta, the war museums, Phu Quoc Island, and the buzzing city itself.

This is also the busiest airport in Vietnam with the most international flight options.

Land in Da Nang (Da Nang International Airport — DAD) if: You want to base yourself in Central Vietnam — Hoi An, Hue, and My Son Sanctuary are all within 1–2 hours.

Da Nang doesn’t get as many direct flights from India, but it’s worth checking because fares here are often cheaper.

According to KAYAK data, the average fare to Da Nang from India is lower than to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

For most first-timers doing a North-to-South Vietnam trip, the classic approach is fly into Hanoi, fly out of Ho Chi Minh City.

This is called an open-jaw itinerary and most airlines allow it.

You won’t waste a day backtracking.

What Do Flights from India to Vietnam Actually Cost?

Let’s talk real numbers in INR.

One-way economy tickets from major Indian cities to Vietnam typically range from ₹10,000 to ₹18,000 per person, depending on the airline, timing, and season.

Return tickets (economy) generally fall in the ₹22,000–₹45,000 range if booked 4–8 weeks in advance. During Indian festive seasons or peak winter months in Vietnam, the same tickets can cost ₹50,000–₹65,000 return.

Here’s a rough breakdown by airline type:

Booking TipThe cheapest months are typically February and July. Prices usually rise during October–November, December–January, and May–June. For peak periods, book 10 to 12 weeks in advance.

When Is the Best Time to Book?

The honest answer: 7 weeks before departure is the sweet spot for most routes.

Booking around that window saves about 24% compared to booking last-minute, according to KAYAK’s route data for India to Vietnam.

If you’re extremely flexible and can plan 5–6 months ahead, you can find even better deals — but most people can’t plan that early.

Three simple ways to save money on India-Vietnam flights:

  1. Fly mid-week. Tuesdays and Wednesdays usually cost ₹3,000–₹6,000 less on a return ticket compared to Friday departures.
  2. Check nearby airports. If you’re in Pune or Hyderabad, compare fares from multiple cities — not just the nearest airport.
  3. Sometimes flying out of a different city saves more than the train ticket there costs.
  4. Set a price alert. Google Flights and Skyscanner let you track a route for free.
  5. You get notified when prices drop — no need to check daily.

Final Tips for Booking Vietnam Flights

A Few Things to Double-Check Before You Book

These are small things, but they trip people up:

Check baggage allowance carefully. On VietJet and IndiGo, the base fare includes zero checked baggage.

If you’re carrying even a small suitcase, you need to add a baggage bundle at the time of booking — it’s almost always cheaper than paying at the airport.

Vietnam e-Visa is separate from your flight booking.

You need to apply for it at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn.

It costs about $25 (around ₹2,100) and takes 3 working days.

Don’t leave this for the last minute.

Transit visa for connections. Short layovers (under 24 hours) in Singapore, Bangkok, or Kuala Lumpur generally don’t require a transit visa for Indian passport holders — but always confirm with the airline before booking.

Passport validity. Vietnam requires at least 6 months of validity from the date of entry.

Are connecting flights cheaper than direct flights to Vietnam?

Sometimes. Connections via Bangkok, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur can save ₹3,000–₹8,000 but increase travel time.

Do Vietnam flights include checked baggage?

Vietnam Airlines and Air India usually include 23 kg checked baggage. VietJet Air and IndiGo generally charge separately.

How far in advance should I book India to Vietnam flights?

Book 6–8 weeks in advance. For December–January, book 10–12 weeks ahead.

Is a visa required for Indians flying to Vietnam?

Yes. Apply through the official Vietnam e-Visa portal. It costs about ₹2,100 and usually takes around 3 working days.

Which is better for Indian vegetarian travelers — VietJet or Vietnam Airlines?

Vietnam Airlines because meals are included and vegetarian meals can be pre-selected.

Can I fly from Bangalore to Vietnam directly?

No. Connect via Singapore, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, or Delhi.

What is Da Nang airport good for?

It is the gateway to Hoi An, Hue, and My Son, and sometimes offers lower fares.

Is it worth flying Vietnam Airlines over IndiGo?

Vietnam Airlines includes meals and baggage. IndiGo is often cheaper if traveling light.

No layover, no running through airports in Singapore or KL.

That said, connecting flights are still a solid option — especially if you’re flying from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, or Hyderabad, or if you want to save money on the ticket.

Do Direct Flights from India to Bali Exist?

Yes, and this is actually newer than most people realize.

As of 2026, IndiGo and Air India both fly direct from New Delhi (DEL) to Bali Denpasar (DPS).

The Air India direct flight covers the route in around 7 hours 30 minutes.

IndiGo’s direct option is similarly timed.

There are currently around 11 direct flights per week from Delhi to Bali across both airlines.

That’s not a lot, which means seats fill up faster — especially during school holidays and long weekends.

If you want the direct option, book early.

From Bengaluru, there are also select direct flight options.

Bengaluru actually tends to offer some of the most competitive fares for Bali because of its strong connectivity to Southeast Asia.

Worth checking specifically for BLR → DPS routes on Google Flights before assuming you need to route via Delhi.

From Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata — connecting flights are still your main option.

And honestly, they work fine.

Singapore Changi and Kuala Lumpur International are both excellent airports to transit through.

No stress.

Which Airlines Are Actually Worth Booking?

A lot of people just Google “cheapest flight to Bali” and book whatever comes up first.

That’s not always the smartest move.

Here’s how the main airlines actually compare:

IndiGo

India’s most popular low-cost carrier now flies direct to Bali from Delhi, which is a big deal.

Fares for the direct route start around ₹18,000 one-way but can go much higher depending on timing.

Baggage is not included by default — you’ll need to add it during booking.

Good choice if you want the convenience of a direct flight without paying Singapore Airlines prices.

Air India

Also operates direct Delhi–Bali flights. Generally slightly more expensive than IndiGo on the same route, but includes better seat pitch and often comes with checked baggage in the base fare.

Worth comparing on the same dates before deciding.

AirAsia / AirAsia X

The go-to budget option for connecting flights, routing through Kuala Lumpur.

Return fares from Delhi or Mumbai can go as low as ₹25,000–₹30,000 if you book at the right time.

Their app runs flash sales that can cut fares by 30–50% — worth enabling notifications if you’re flexible on dates.

Singapore Airlines

Premium, but genuinely excellent.

If you’re going for a honeymoon or a special trip and want the transit experience to match the holiday, Singapore Airlines via Changi is hard to beat.

Fares are higher — expect ₹50,000–₹80,000+ return — but the service and comfort are on a different level.

Malaysia Airlines

A solid middle ground. Routes via Kuala Lumpur, good baggage allowance, and fares that sit between budget carriers and Singapore Airlines.

Return fares usually range ₹35,000–₹55,000.

VietJet Air

Increasingly popular on the India–Bali route, routing via Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi.

Can be very affordable — sometimes cheaper than AirAsia.

The catch: their baggage policy is strict and add-ons can make the “cheap” fare not-so-cheap.

Always calculate total cost including baggage before booking.

Scoot

Budget arm of Singapore Airlines, routing via Singapore.

Changi is one of the best transit airports in the world, which makes even a short layover pleasant.

Fares are competitive with AirAsia, sometimes cheaper.

How Long Does the Flight Actually Take?

Here’s a city-by-city breakdown including realistic total travel time (flight + layover, if connecting):

One thing worth knowing: A longer layover does not always mean more misery. A 3-hour layover in Changi Airport (Singapore) is genuinely enjoyable — the airport has swimming pools, butterfly gardens, and multiple restaurants. Some travelers actually prefer a Singapore transit over a rushed 90-minute connection.

What’s the Actual Cost? Real Fare Ranges for 2026

Let’s talk real numbers.

Not “starting from” prices that vanish the moment you search.

Return fares from Delhi to Bali (economy, including baggage):

  • Off-peak (Feb, Mar, Sep–Nov): ₹22,000–₹32,000
  • Shoulder season (Apr–Jun, Jan): ₹30,000–₹45,000
  • Peak season (Dec, May school holidays, Diwali week): ₹45,000–₹70,000+

From Mumbai:

  • Off-peak: ₹25,000–₹38,000
  • Peak: ₹50,000–₹75,000+

From Bengaluru:

  • Often slightly cheaper than Mumbai due to better direct connectivity
  • Off-peak: ₹22,000–₹35,000

These fares include one checked bag.

If you’re booking AirAsia or VietJet base fares, add ₹3,000–₹6,000 for 20kg baggage.

When Should You Book for the Best Price?

The single biggest mistake Indian travelers make with Bali flights: booking too late.

Most people search flights when they’ve already decided to go, which is usually 2–3 weeks before travel.

At that point, the good fares are gone.

The sweet spot is 6–10 weeks before your travel date.

That’s when airlines are still filling seats and haven’t raised prices for last-minute buyers.

For peak season travel (December, May, Diwali week), push that to 3–4 months in advance.

Cheapest months to fly to Bali from India:

  • February — post-Christmas demand has dropped, great weather in Bali
  • March (first half) — before Holi holiday demand kicks in
  • September to November — shoulder season, good fares, less crowded Bali

Most expensive periods:

  • Last week of December + New Year
  • May–June (school summer holidays)
  • Diwali week and surrounding long weekends

One more thing: Wednesdays tend to have cheaper fares than Friday–Sunday.

If you can fly mid-week, you’ll almost always pay less.

Transit Visa: Do You Need One?

Most Indian travelers don’t need a transit visa for Singapore (up to 96 hours, if you have a valid Bali e-visa), but it depends on your specific situation.

  • Singapore transit (under 24 hours): Generally no transit visa required for Indian passport holders on most airlines
  • Kuala Lumpur transit: Malaysia allows Indian passport holders to transit without a visa for up to 120 hours under the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) program — but check the current rules before assuming
  • Bangkok transit: Usually no transit visa required for short layovers

Always double-check this before booking, especially if you plan a long layover or want to exit the airport.

Bali itself: Indian passport holders get a free Visa on Arrival (VOA) at Ngurah Rai International Airport, valid for 30 days, extendable by another 30. As of 2026, the VOA fee is IDR 500,000 (approximately ₹2,500).

You just need a valid passport (6+ months validity), a return ticket, and proof of accommodation.

Which Airlines Fly from India to Dubai?

Six carriers dominate this route — and each one is genuinely suited to a different type of traveler.

Here is what you need to know about each.

Emirates — Best for Comfort and Baggage, But You Pay for It

Emirates operates 28 flights per week from Delhi to Dubai alone. Add Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad, and Emirates has more India-Dubai departures than any other airline.

What you get: 25–30 kg checked baggage in economy, a hot meal, the ICE entertainment system on seatback screens, and widebody aircraft (mostly Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 on trunk routes).

The A380 on Mumbai-Dubai is genuinely comfortable — wider seats, more overhead bin space, quieter cabin.

What it costs: Economy fares are higher than budget alternatives.

Expect to pay ₹18,000–₹35,000 one-way in economy.

During peak travel months (October–March), fares push higher.

Honest take: If you are going to Dubai for a special occasion — anniversary, honeymoon, family trip — the Emirates experience is worth the premium.

The baggage allowance alone saves you ₹1,500–₹3,000 in add-on fees you’d pay on a budget carrier.

Direct Flights from India to Dubai

IndiGo — Most Affordable, But Read the Fine Print

IndiGo operates 14+ direct flights per week from Delhi to Dubai, plus strong frequency from Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad.

What you get: The headline fare looks very attractive — sometimes ₹9,000–₹12,000 one-way. But the base fare on IndiGo international routes typically includes only 7 kg cabin baggage.

Checked baggage (15 kg) is usually an add-on that costs ₹2,000–₹4,000 extra per sector.

Add a meal (₹400–₹800) and the gap between IndiGo and Air India Express narrows considerably.

Aircraft are narrowbody A320/A321 — perfectly fine for a 3.5-hour flight, but not the same ride quality as Emirates’ widebody jets.

What it costs: All-in fares (with one checked bag and meal) typically work out to ₹14,000–₹20,000 one-way.

Still cheaper than Emirates, but not as dramatically different as the headline number suggests.

On-time performance: IndiGo recorded 79.8% on-time performance in early 2026, which is solid for a budget carrier on international routes.

Honest take: IndiGo is the right choice if you are traveling light (7 kg cabin bag only) or booking 6–8 weeks ahead to catch genuinely discounted fares.

Don’t assume it’s the cheapest once you price in your actual travel needs.

Air India — Best Balance of Price, Service, and Baggage

Air India operates 26 direct flights per week from Delhi to Dubai and has strong frequency from Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.

What you get: 25 kg checked baggage included in economy (no add-on required), a complimentary meal, and a frequent flier programme (Flying Returns) that actually accumulates points.

Aircraft on this route are typically Boeing 787 Dreamliner or older narrow-body jets depending on the city.

What it costs: Economy fares range from ₹12,000–₹25,000 one-way.

Often comparable to IndiGo once you factor in baggage.

During sale periods, Air India’s fares are competitive with budget airlines.

Honest take: For most Indian families and couples flying to Dubai, Air India hits the right balance — you’re not paying Emirates prices, but you’re not dealing with add-on fees at every step either.

Air India Express — Cheapest Full-Bag Option from South India

Air India Express is the low-cost arm of Air India and is especially strong on routes from South India: Kochi, Chennai, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, and Hyderabad to Dubai.

What makes it stand out for Indian travelers: Economy fares include 15 kg checked baggage as standard, which is better than IndiGo’s base offering.

Meals are not included but can be pre-booked.

What it costs: One-way fares from Kochi or Chennai typically start at ₹10,500–₹16,000 with baggage included — very competitive.

Honest take: If you are flying from Kerala or Tamil Nadu, Air India Express is often the best value option. Check it before defaulting to IndiGo.

flydubai — Good Option from Tier-2 Indian Cities

flydubai is Dubai’s government-owned low-cost carrier and operates flights from cities that major carriers sometimes skip: Jaipur, Lucknow, Amritsar, Nagpur, Vadodara, and Kozhikode, in addition to metro cities.

What it costs: Fares are competitive — ₹10,000–₹20,000 one-way from most cities.

Baggage is an add-on (similar structure to IndiGo).

Honest take: If you are flying from a city where Emirates or Air India don’t have direct service, flydubai is worth checking.

Otherwise, you have better options.

When Is the Cheapest Time to Book India to Dubai Flights?

This is the most common question we get — and the answer depends on when you want to travel, not just when you book.

Cheapest months to fly: May, June, and July.

Counterintuitive, because Dubai in summer is extremely hot (40°C+), so demand drops.

If you are going purely for shopping, indoor attractions, or transit, summer fares are significantly lower — sometimes 40–50% cheaper than peak season.

Most expensive months: October to March.

This is Dubai’s tourist season.

Weather is pleasant (20°C–28°C), outdoor attractions are open, the Dubai Shopping Festival runs from December to January, and fares reflect all of that.

Expect to pay 30–60% more than summer rates.

The Eid trap: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha are when fares triple on a few days’ notice.

If your travel dates land near Eid, book at least 8–10 weeks out or expect to pay the surge price.

Best booking window: 6–8 weeks before departure for mid-range fares.

For travel during October–March or around Indian school holidays (Diwali, Christmas, April vacation), book 10–12 weeks ahead.

Day of week: Tuesday and Wednesday tend to have marginally lower fares than Friday and Sunday, which see the highest demand from leisure travelers.

Practical Things to Know Before You Book

Baggage rules — check before assuming. Budget airline base fares to Dubai almost never include checked baggage.

IndiGo’s economy base fare includes 7 kg cabin only. SpiceJet and flydubai are similar.

Always check the fare rules before comparing prices — ₹9,000 with no bag vs ₹13,000 with 20 kg are not a fair comparison.

Visa: Indian citizens need a UAE visa. You can apply online in advance through the UAE government portal or through an authorized agent.

Emirates also facilitates visa applications directly if you fly with them.

A 30-day tourist visa typically costs ₹6,500–₹8,500. Apply at least 5–7 days before travel.

Dubai airport terminal matters: Most flights land at Dubai International Airport (DXB) — Emirates uses Terminal 3, other international airlines use Terminal 1.

A small number of budget flights use Al Maktoum International (DWC), which is about 45 minutes from central Dubai.

Check your terminal before booking accommodation.

Flight duration: Delhi is ~3.5 hours, Mumbai ~3 hours, Bengaluru and Chennai ~4 hours.

All comfortable in economy class.

Currency: UAE Dirham (AED).

1 AED ≈ ₹23–24.

Carry some AED cash; cards are accepted almost everywhere in Dubai.

Roaming Legs found us Air India flights from Jaipur connecting through Mumbai — total return was ₹26,000 per person with 25 kg baggage.

The trip itself was incredible, but knowing we didn’t overpay on the flight made the whole thing feel even better.”

Kavita Menon, Kochi — February 2026 “Flying from Kochi, I always worried about limited options.

They suggested Air India Express direct to Dubai — under ₹20,000 return with bag included.

Landed at Terminal 1, cab to JBR took 25 minutes. Entire trip was smooth from the start.”

IndiGo, SpiceJet, and flydubai basic fares often include only cabin baggage, with checked baggage available as an add-on.

Do Indians need a visa for Dubai?

Yes. Indian citizens require a UAE tourist visa before travelling.

A 30-day tourist visa generally costs around ₹6,500–₹8,500 and should be arranged at least 5–7 working days before travel.

Which Indian city has the cheapest flights to Dubai?

Delhi and Mumbai usually have competitive fares because they have the highest number of daily flights and airline competition.

Ahmedabad, Kochi, and Chennai also often offer good prices due to strong airline connectivity.

Vietnam Visa Mistakes Travelers Should Avoid

Vietnam Visa Mistakes Indian Travelers Keep Making — Here’s What Actually Goes Wrong and How to Fix It Before You Apply

Every year, Indian travelers lose their non-refundable visa fee — sometimes ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 — not because Vietnam rejected them as travelers, but because of a small, completely avoidable mistake in their application form.

Wrong entry point. Blurry passport scan.

Middle name missing.

Visa start date that doesn’t match the flight ticket.

The Vietnam e-visa process itself is genuinely simple.

The official portal is evisa.gov.vn, the fee is around USD 25 (roughly ₹2,100), and approval comes in 3–5 working days.

But the system in 2026 is stricter than it used to be.

Vietnam’s immigration department now uses AI-driven document validation — which means blurry scans and mismatched details get flagged and rejected automatically, without any human looking at your file.

This guide covers exactly where Indian applicants go wrong, what the consequences actually are, and what to do at each step so your Vietnam visa gets approved the first time.

The 8 Vietnam Visa Mistakes That Actually Cost Indian Travelers Their Applications

Here's a fast reference — the problems this guide covers in detail:

Incorrect passport number or name Entry denied or visa flagged at immigration
Blurry passport scan or wrong photo Auto-rejected by Vietnam's AI validation
Wrong arrival airport selected Problems at immigration even with approved visa
Visa start date before flight date Entry refused at the border
Applying too close to departure No time to fix errors before travel
Passport validity under 6 months Visa may be approved, entry still denied
Not verifying visa after approval Spelling errors cost you at the airport
Overstaying visa validity ₹1,750+ per day in fines, possible travel ban

Mistake #1: Getting Passport Details Wrong in the Application

Honestly, this one is responsible for more Vietnam visa rejections among Indian travelers than anything else.

When you fill the e-visa application on evisa.gov.vn, every single field from your passport has to be an exact copy — not close, not roughly right. Exact.

The ones that trip people up most often:

Passport number. One wrong digit and your visa doesn’t match your passport.

Immigration officers match these at the border.

If they don’t align, you have a problem.

Full name as printed in the passport. This is where Indian passports create a specific headache.

Many Indian passport holders have names listed differently across documents — initials in one place, full middle name in another. For the Vietnam e-visa, your name must match the ICAO line at the bottom of your passport’s photo page — the machine-readable line with the chevrons (<<<).

If your passport shows “KUMAR RAJESH SINGH” in the ICAO line, that’s exactly what goes in the form.

Not “Rajesh Kumar Singh.” Not “R. K. Singh.” Exactly as printed.

Passport expiry date. Even a one-digit transposition here — say, 2027 instead of 2026 — creates a mismatch the system catches.

The fix is simple: keep your passport open in front of you while filling the form.

After you fill each field, verify it character by character against the passport.

Do not copy from memory.

Mistake #2: Uploading the Wrong Photo or a Blurry Passport Scan

Vietnam’s immigration system started using AI-powered document validation in 2026.

That change matters for Indian travelers because it means your documents are now checked by software before any human looks at your file.

The software rejects automatically if:

  • The passport scan is blurry, cropped, or has glare across the photo page
  • The passport photo has shadows on the face, colored or dark background, glasses, or hair covering the eyebrows
  • The photo format doesn’t match — Vietnam requires a 4×6 cm passport-style photo with a plain white background
  • The image file is too small or compressed to be read clearly

We’ve seen Indian travelers upload photos directly from their phone’s gallery — a photo of a photo, taken in bad lighting — and wonder why they got flagged.

That doesn’t work anymore.

What actually works: Scan your passport bio page with a document scanner app (CamScanner or Adobe Scan work well) — not your camera app.

For the photo, use a recent passport-style photo taken against a white wall in good natural light, or get one done at a studio.

Upload it as the highest quality JPEG your phone allows.

Vietnam Visa mistakes to avoid

Mistake #3: Selecting the Wrong Arrival Airport

This one surprises a lot of first-time Vietnam travelers because it seems like a small detail — but it’s actually a fixed field that can’t be changed after submission.

When you apply for the Vietnam e-visa, you have to select your entry point.

Vietnam has three main international airports Indian travelers use:

  • Noi Bai International Airport (HAN) — Hanoi
  • Da Nang International Airport (DAD) — Central Vietnam
  • Tan Son Nhat International Airport (SGN) — Ho Chi Minh City

What happens: traveler applies with Hanoi (HAN) selected as entry, because they’re planning a North Vietnam circuit.

Then, a week later, they find a cheaper IndiGo flight into Ho Chi Minh City.

They rebook the flights but forget the visa lists a different airport.

At immigration in Ho Chi Minh City, the officer sees the visa shows Hanoi as the arrival point.

That’s enough to create a serious problem — and in some cases, denial of entry.

The rule: your visa entry point must match your actual flight.

If your plans change after visa approval, you’ll need to apply for a new visa.

There’s no amendment process.

Before you book flights, decide your entry city first.

Then apply for the visa.

Then book the tickets.

Mistake #4: Setting the Wrong Visa Start Date

This one catches travelers who book connecting flights — especially those coming through Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok.

The visa start date is the date from which your e-visa becomes valid.

If your flight from India departs on the night of March 10th and you land in Vietnam early morning on March 11th, your visa start date must be March 11th — or earlier.

The mistake: a traveler sets March 10th as the visa start date (because that’s when they “leave India”).

The flight actually touches down in Hanoi at 2 AM on March 11th.

The visa is technically valid from the 10th, which means it started the previous day — and technically, that’s fine.

But some travelers get this backwards: they set the 11th as the date, book their travel, and then add an extra leg that pushes arrival to the 12th.

Arriving before your visa start date is a definite entry problem. Build in a buffer — set your visa start date a day earlier than your planned arrival, not a day later.

Mistake #5: Applying Too Close to Your Travel Date

Vietnam’s standard e-visa processing takes 3–5 working days.

That sounds like enough time. It’s not — not when you factor in:

  • Weekends (the system doesn’t count these as working days)
  • Indian national holidays and Vietnamese public holidays
  • High-volume periods when processing slows down (summer, New Year, Tet festival season)
  • A request for document correction that requires you to resubmit

If you apply 5 working days before departure and something needs to be corrected, you are cutting it dangerously close.

Correction + reprocessing can easily eat 3–4 more days.

In our experience helping travelers plan Vietnam trips, we tell everyone: apply at least 10–14 days before your departure date.

Not working days. Calendar days. That buffer covers nearly every scenario.

One more thing — once you submit, there’s no cancellation or editing of the application.

If you’ve made an error and your visa hasn’t been approved yet, you can’t fix it without starting over and paying the fee again.

Mistakes to Avoid for Vietnam Visa

Mistake #6: Not Checking Passport Validity Before Applying

Vietnam requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of arrival — not from the date you apply, not from your departure date.

Here’s where it gets tricky: your visa might actually get approved even with a passport that has less than 6 months of validity.

The e-visa system doesn’t always catch this.

But the immigration officer at the airport will.

And at that point, you’re looking at being denied entry with a valid visa in your hand.

Also check this: your passport must have at least one blank page (not an endorsement page) for the immigration stamp.

If your passport is full, get a new one before applying.

If your passport expires in less than 6 months from your planned Vietnam arrival, apply for renewal now.

Tatkal passport renewal from India takes roughly 5–7 working days.

Mistake #7: Downloading the Visa and Not Verifying It

Once the visa approval email arrives, most people download the PDF and consider the job done.

That’s a mistake.

Open the PDF and verify, line by line:

  • Your name — exactly as in your passport
  • Passport number — digit by digit
  • Visa start date and end date
  • Entry point listed

Errors in approved visas do happen, and they’re much easier to fix before you fly than at the airport.

If you spot an error caused by the system, contact the Vietnam immigration department immediately at the email on the official portal.

Also — and this is something many Indian travelers miss — print the e-visa approval letter and carry it with you.

Yes, it’s electronic.

But Vietnamese immigration officers at land borders and some smaller airports still ask for a printed copy at check-in and at the immigration desk.

Keep one copy in your travel folder, not just on your phone.

Mistake #8: Overstaying Your Vietnam Visa

Each e-visa has a fixed validity period.

Vietnam doesn’t have a visa extension system for tourists — if you want to stay longer, you exit and reapply, or you arrange a new visa through a local sponsor before your current one expires.

What happens if you overstay?

  • Fine of 500,000 VND (approximately ₹1,750) per day for overstays under 30 days
  • Longer overstays face higher penalties and potential deportation
  • A record of overstay can affect future Vietnam visa applications

Track your visa expiry date from day one. Set a reminder 5 days before it expires so you have time to act — whether that’s booking an exit flight, applying for a new visa, or contacting the immigration office.

What Indian Travelers Say After Getting This Right

“We applied 12 days before our Hanoi trip and got the visa in 3 days.

The team at Roaming Legs told us to check the ICAO line for the name — good thing they did, because we would have entered it differently.

Everything was smooth at the airport.” — Manisha and Arjun, Mumbai | Vietnam trip, February 2026

“The photo requirement tripped us up the first time.

The AI system flagged it immediately.

Second attempt with a proper studio photo went through without any issue.

Lesson learned — don’t use selfies.”

Dubai Tourist Visa Documents for Indians — The Exact Checklist, Photo Rules, and Mistakes That Get Applications Rejected

Most Dubai visa rejections are not because someone is a bad applicant.

They happen because someone uploaded a blurry passport scan, used a photo with the wrong background, or didn’t realise their passport had less than six months of validity.

Completely fixable — but only if you catch it before you apply.

The Dubai tourist visa process for Indians is genuinely simple — no interview, no biometrics, no embassy visit.

The whole thing is online and approvals come in 2–4 working days.

But small document errors stretch that to a week or longer, or worse — a rejection that wastes your fees and your travel plans.

This covers every document you need, the exact photo and passport specs, what’s different for salaried vs. self-employed applicants, and the mistakes that trip people up most often.

Quick AdviceThe 30-day tourist visa is the most common choice for Indian travelers. Once approved, UAE tourist visas are issued electronically. Print a copy and carry it with your passport when you travel.

Core Documents Every Indian Applicant Needs

These apply across all tourist visa types.

Get these right first.

1. Passport (with Correct Validity)

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you plan to enter Dubai — not from the application date.

Sounds simple, but a lot of people check their passport expiry date and think “yes, this is fine” without calculating properly.

If you’re travelling to Dubai in November 2026, your passport must be valid until at least May 2027.

Two more things to check:

  • The passport must have at least 2 blank pages for immigration stamps.
  • Any passport that is damaged, torn, has a missing page, or has faded text on the bio-data page is likely to be rejected. UAE immigration is strict about this.

2. Passport Scan

Most visa applications are submitted online, so you’ll need a clear digital scan of your passport’s bio-data page — the page with your photo, name, date of birth, and passport number.

The scan must be:

  • In colour (not black and white)
  • High resolution — every detail clearly readable
  • Not cropped or partially cut off
  • Under the file size specified by the portal (usually under 1 MB as a JPEG)

The most common reason applications get flagged at this step: the scan is taken from a phone camera at an angle, creating shadows and blur.

Use a flatbed scanner or a scanning app like Adobe Scan in good lighting.

3. Passport-Size Photograph

This is where many applications fail, and it’s completely avoidable.

The UAE has specific photo requirements that are stricter than what most Indian photo studios default to.

The specifications:

  • Size: 35mm x 45mm (approximately 2 x 2 inches) — this is a standard passport size
  • Background: Plain white only — not light grey, not off-white, not cream
  • Face: Clearly visible from hairline to chin, no shadows on face or background
  • Expression: Neutral — mouth closed, looking directly at the camera
  • No glasses — this is a UAE requirement even if you wear prescription glasses
  • Photo must be recent — taken within the last 6 months
  • No head coverings unless for religious reasons

One thing worth knowing: if you use a selfie, it needs to meet all of the above specifications exactly. Professional studio photos are still the safer option because studios get these right consistently.

A rejected photo means restarting the application.

4. Return Flight Ticket

You need a confirmed return flight ticket — or at minimum, a booking confirmation showing your departure date from Dubai.

Some agencies accept a tentative booking (a PNR that’s held but not fully paid), but confirmed tickets are always safer.

This shows immigration that you have a planned exit from the UAE.

5. Hotel Booking or Accommodation Proof

You need to show where you’re staying in Dubai.

A hotel booking confirmation email works.

If you’re staying at an Airbnb, that booking confirmation is also accepted.

If you’re staying with friends or family who live in Dubai:

  • You need a copy of their Emirates ID
  • A signed invitation letter from them mentioning your name, their UAE address, and the dates of your visit

Additional Documents — Based on Your Employment Type

For a standard 30-day or 60-day tourist visa, most Indian applicants only need the core documents above.

But depending on employment status, some agencies may ask for these:

If You’re a Salaried Employee

  • NOC (No Objection Certificate) from your employer — a letter on company letterhead confirming you work there and are permitted to travel
  • Last 3 months’ salary slips

Not all agencies ask for this.

It’s more common when applying through airline-sponsored visas (Emirates, Air India) or when your travel history is limited.

If You’re Self-Employed or Run a Business

  • Copy of your GST registration or business license
  • Company bank statements (last 3 months)
  • Sometimes a copy of your trade license if you operate in a specific industry

If You’re a Student or Unemployed

  • College ID and enrolment letter
  • A sponsor’s letter if you’re not earning independently

For a basic 30-day visa through a reputed agency, employment documents are less commonly asked for.

For 60-day or multiple-entry visas, they come up more often.

Do Indians Need a Bank Statement for Dubai Tourist Visa?

This is probably the most Googled question about Dubai visa documents — and the answer is genuinely good news.

No — bank statements are NOT required for a standard Dubai tourist visa.

The UAE tourist visa is one of the more straightforward international visas in this regard.

Unlike US or Schengen visas, you don’t need to prove financial stability through bank statements for a regular tourist visit.

Dubai is an expensive city and you’ll need money once you’re there — but you don’t need to prove it to get the visa.

The only situations where financial documents might come up:

  • Extended stays (60+ days) processed by certain agencies
  • Applications that require additional verification due to travel history
  • Some corporate or business visa categories

For a standard 5–10 day family trip or couple’s holiday to Dubai, bank statements are not part of the process.

Can Indians Get Dubai Visa on Arrival?

Yes — but only under a specific condition.

If you hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, EU (Schengen), Australia, or Canada, you’re eligible for a 14-day visa on arrival at Dubai airport.

This is free of cost and given at the immigration counter.

The key word is valid — the foreign visa must be active at the time of travel.

An expired US visa does not qualify.

Without any of these, you must apply for an e-visa in advance.

There’s no visa on arrival for Indian passport holders who don’t hold these qualifying documents.

Common Mistakes That Lead to Visa Rejection

These are the actual reasons applications get delayed or rejected.

All of them are avoidable.

Passport validity less than 6 months — the single most common reason.

People think “my passport is valid until next year” without checking if there’s 6 months from the travel date specifically.

Wrong photo specifications — grey background instead of white, shadows on face, glasses in the photo, or a photo that’s too old.

The UAE is specific about this and non-compliant photos are flagged.

Blurry or cropped passport scan — a phone photo taken at an angle in dim lighting.

Always scan in good daylight or use a proper scanner.

Mismatched travel dates — the flight ticket says 15th but the hotel booking starts on the 16th.

Even a one-day mismatch raises a flag.

All your travel documents should tell the same story.

Incomplete application form — missed fields, wrong passport number typed in, or old address.

Cross-check every field with your actual passport before submitting.

Applying too close to travel date — standard processing takes 2–4 working days.

Express is available (24 hours) at extra cost.

Applying 2 days before travel on standard processing is a common panic situation that ends badly.

How Long Does Dubai Visa Actually Take for Indians?

For the 30-day single-entry tourist visa — the one most Indian travelers book — you’re typically looking at 3 to 5 working days under standard processing.

We’ve seen it clear in under 48 hours plenty of times when the application is clean and it’s not peak season.

We’ve also seen it stretch to a week during the last week of December, when half of India seems to be flying to Dubai at once.

A few honest numbers from what we track on our own client applications:

  • Roughly 7 out of 10 standard applications clear within 3 working days.
  • Applications submitted on a Thursday often take an extra day because the UAE weekend (Friday–Saturday) pauses processing.
  • Applications during Ramadan see slightly reduced immigration working hours, which can add a day or two.

One thing you won’t find in most guides: working days matter more than calendar days.

If you apply on a Wednesday, your “3 working day” visa might actually land the following Tuesday once you count the UAE weekend and any Indian public holiday overlap.

Visa processing from India to Dubai

What Actually Delays a Dubai Visa

Delays are almost never random.

In our experience, it’s nearly always one of these four things:

Passport validity under 6 months. This is the single biggest reason we see applications bounce back.

UAE immigration wants at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry, not your date of application.

A blurry or cropped passport scan. If the scanner cuts off the corner of your passport number or the photo is at an angle, the application gets flagged for manual review — and that alone can add 2 to 3 days.

Applying during peak season. Diwali week, Christmas–New Year, and Indian summer holidays (May–July) see application volumes spike, and immigration processing simply can’t keep pace.

Expect an extra 1 to 3 days during these windows.

A previous UAE overstay or visa rejection on record. Even a small past overstay — say, two days past your last visa’s expiry — can trigger additional security verification, which typically adds 3 to 5 working days.

None of these are things you find out about after applying.

A five-minute check before you submit catches almost all of them.

Express and Urgent Dubai Visa Processing

If your travel dates are close, express processing is a real option — not just marketing language.

For the standard 14-day and 30-day tourist visas, express service typically delivers approval within 24 to 48 hours, at an extra cost of roughly ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 over the standard fee.

Some providers even offer a same-day “super express” service for 4 to 12 hours, usually for an additional AED 300–500, though this depends heavily on immigration workload that particular day — nobody can promise same-day approval with 100% certainty, and be wary of anyone who does.

Our honest advice: express is worth it if you’re within 5 days of travel.

If you have more than a week, standard processing saves you the extra money and the outcome is exactly the same visa.

Do You Even Need to Apply in Advance? Visa on Arrival for Indians

This is the part most Dubai visa articles skip entirely, and it can save you the entire waiting game.

Since February 2025, Indian passport holders who hold a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, EU/Schengen area, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea, or Singapore qualify for a 14-day visa on arrival at Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Sharjah airport — no advance application, no waiting, no agent fee.

You just need that qualifying visa (or residence permit) to have at least 6 months of validity left from your entry date, and your Indian passport needs the same.

The visa on arrival costs about AED 100–120 (roughly ₹2,200–2,600), paid directly at the immigration counter, and it’s valid across all seven Emirates.

It can be extended once for another 14 days at a similar cost.

If you’ve traveled to Europe, the UK, or the US in the last few years and that visa or residence permit is still valid, check this option before you pay for a pre-arranged e-visa.

We’ve had clients who didn’t realize they qualified and paid ₹11,000 for a visa they didn’t need.

What Our Travelers Say

Rohit Sharma, Pune — Traveled March 2026: “Applied for the 30-day visa through Roaming Legs on a Tuesday, had it by Friday morning.

The team caught that my passport scan was slightly cropped before I even submitted, which apparently saves a ton of time.

Would’ve messed that up on my own.”

Ayesha Khan, Hyderabad — Traveled June 2026: “Didn’t know I qualified for visa on arrival because of an old UK visa still sitting in my passport.

Roaming Legs pointed it out on WhatsApp in five minutes and saved me both the fee and the wait.

Genuinely didn’t expect that.”

Dubai Visa Processing Time FAQs

Dubai Visa Processing Time FAQs for Indian Travelers

Responsive Elementor-ready FAQ section with embedded CSS and no JavaScript.

1. How long does a Dubai visa take for Indians?

Standard tourist visa processing usually takes 2 to 5 working days. Express processing may reduce this to 24 to 48 hours for an additional fee.

2. Can I get a Dubai visa within 24 hours?

Yes. Licensed agents may offer express or super-express processing, although approval is never guaranteed during peak travel periods.

3. Why is my Dubai visa taking longer?

Common reasons include passport validity below 6 months, poor passport scans, peak-season demand, or previous UAE immigration issues.

4. Does the visa type affect processing time?

Only slightly. Document accuracy and when you apply usually have a much greater impact than the visa duration.

5. When should I apply?

Apply 2 to 3 weeks before departure to allow time for processing and any document corrections.

6. Can weekends delay approval?

Yes. UAE weekends are Friday and Saturday, so applications submitted later in the week may take longer.

7. Can incorrect passport details delay my visa?

Yes. Even small mistakes may trigger manual verification and add several days.

8. How can I track my application?

Most licensed visa providers share tracking links or status updates through email or WhatsApp.

9. Is processing slower during peak seasons?

Yes. Diwali, Christmas, New Year, and the summer holiday period often increase processing times.

10. What if my visa is still pending?

Contact your visa provider first. Do not submit another application while one is already being processed.

11. Do Indians need a visa for Dubai?

Yes, except eligible travelers who qualify for visa on arrival using specific foreign visas or residence permits.

12. How much does visa on arrival cost?

Eligible travelers generally pay around AED 100 to AED 120 at the airport for a 14-day visa on arrival.

13. Is a 60-day visa worth it?

Only if you plan to stay longer than one month. Most tourists are well served by a 30-day visa.

14. Can an agent guarantee same-day approval?

No. Final approval always depends on UAE immigration, so no agent can guarantee it.

15. Which documents affect processing speed the most?

A clear passport scan and at least six months of passport validity from your travel date are the most important factors.

Vietnam e-Visa for Indians: How to Apply Online, What It Costs, and What Most People Get Wrong

So you’ve decided on Vietnam — great choice.

Now comes the visa part, and this is where most people waste hours going back and forth between confusing websites, third-party agents, and outdated blog posts.

Here’s the short answer: Indian passport holders can apply for a Vietnam e-Visa entirely online.

You don’t need to visit any embassy.

No agent required.

The official fee is USD 25 (around ₹2,100) for a single-entry visa, and it takes 3–5 working days to get approved. That’s it.

This guide covers the exact steps to apply on the official portal, what documents you actually need, why applications get rejected (and how to avoid that), and a few things most visa guides don’t bother telling you.

Can Indians Apply for Vietnam e-Visa Online?

Yes, and this is the option almost every Indian traveler should use.

Vietnam’s e-Visa system is open to Indian passport holders, and the entire process — from filling the form to paying the fee to getting approval — happens online.

The visa you get is valid for up to 90 days, which is more than enough for most trips.

You don’t need a letter of approval beforehand (that’s the old visa-on-arrival route).

You don’t need to courier your passport anywhere.

Just apply, wait 3–5 working days, download the approved e-Visa, print it, and carry it with your passport.

One thing to note: always apply on the official Vietnam government portal at evisa.gov.vn.

There are dozens of third-party websites that look official but charge service fees of USD 30–80 on top of the government fee.

You get the exact same visa by applying directly — don’t pay extra for nothing.

What Documents Do You Need for Vietnam e-Visa?

Keep these ready before you start the application.

Gathering them after you’ve opened the form just leads to mistakes.

Documents checklist:

  • Passport — minimum 6 months validity from your date of entry into Vietnam, with at least 2 blank pages
  • Passport bio page scan — clear, full colour, JPG format, under 2MB
  • Passport-style photograph — plain white background, no glasses, no smile, taken within the last 6 months, JPG format under 2MB
  • Travel dates — your planned arrival and departure dates from Vietnam
  • Entry point — the airport or border crossing you’ll be entering through
  • Email address — your approved visa will be sent here
  • Debit or credit card — for online payment (Visa, Mastercard, or JCB accepted)

The photo and passport scan are where most Indian applications run into trouble.

The system uses automated AI checks now, and it will flag blurry scans, wrong backgrounds, and outdated photos without a human even reviewing it.

Get these right the first time.

Step-by-Step: How to Apply for Vietnam e-Visa from India

Step 1 — Go to the Official Portal

Open evisa.gov.vn — this is Vietnam’s official immigration e-Visa website.

Don’t use any other site.

The official portal is free of extra service charges.

Step 2 — Fill the Application Form

You’ll be asked to enter:

  • Your full name exactly as it appears on your passport (this is critical — even initials matter)
  • Passport number, date of issue, date of expiry
  • Nationality (Indian)
  • Purpose of visit (select Tourism)
  • Planned entry and exit dates
  • Entry point (the airport or border crossing where you’ll arrive — you can only enter through the point you select)
  • Accommodation address in Vietnam

Double-check every field before moving to the next step.

Name mismatches between the application and passport are the number one reason Indian e-Visas get rejected.

Step 3 — Upload Your Documents

You’ll upload two things: your passport bio page scan and your passport photograph.

Both must be in JPG format and under 2MB.

The photo must have a plain white background. No beach backgrounds, no coloured walls, no glasses.

The system checks this automatically, and if your photo fails the check, your application gets flagged without a human review.

Step 4 — Pay the Fee

Once the form is complete, you pay online by card. The fee is:

  • Single entry: USD 25 (approx. ₹2,100)
  • Multiple entry: USD 50 (approx. ₹4,200)

For most tourists visiting once, single entry is fine.

If you’re planning to travel from Vietnam into Cambodia or Laos and come back, get the multiple entry.

Important: If your application is rejected, the fee is non-refundable.

This is why getting the documents right before submitting matters.

Step 5 — Wait for Approval (3–5 Working Days)

After payment, your application is submitted.

Processing takes 3–5 working days under normal conditions.

During Vietnamese public holidays or peak travel periods (December–January, April–May), it can take a day or two longer.

Your approved e-Visa is sent to the email address you provided.

Download it and print it.

Carry the printed copy along with your passport — airlines check it at check-in, and immigration checks it on arrival.

The government fee is fixed. If you apply directly on evisa.gov.vn, you pay only this amount. If you use a travel agent or visa service, expect to pay an additional service fee of anywhere between ₹1,500–₹5,000. There is no difference in the visa you receive.

How Long Does Vietnam e-Visa Processing Take?

Standard processing time is 3–5 working days.

Apply at least 10–14 days before your departure — not because processing takes that long, but because:

  • If there’s an error in your application, you’ll need time to fix and resubmit
  • If your photo or scan gets flagged, you need a buffer to sort it
  • During peak season or Vietnamese holidays (Tet in late January/February is the big one), processing can slow down

Applying two weeks out costs you nothing and saves a lot of stress.

Why Do Vietnam e-Visa Applications Get Rejected? (Indian Travelers)

This is the part most guides skip. In 2026, Vietnam immigration uses AI-powered document verification.

Here are the real reasons Indian applications get flagged:

  1. Name mismatch Indian names often have initials, multiple components, or differ in arrangement between documents. Enter your name exactly as it appears on your passport — every letter, every initial. Even “Nitin Kumar Batra” vs “Nitin K Batra” can cause a mismatch.
  2. Wrong photo This is the most common rejection reason. The system rejects photos with coloured backgrounds, glasses, older photos, selfies, or photos where your face isn’t clearly centred. Use a fresh passport-style photo taken at a studio on a white background.
  3. Low-quality passport scan A blurry, poorly lit, or partially cropped passport scan fails automatic document recognition. Scan it properly — flat, well-lit, full bio page visible.
  4. Travel date vs visa start date mismatch Your visa validity start date must match your actual arrival date in Vietnam. If you have connecting flights and your travel spans two days, enter the date you actually land in Vietnam.
  5. Entry point confusion Your approved e-Visa is valid only at the entry point you selected during application. If you chose Noi Bai Airport (Hanoi) but land at Tan Son Nhat Airport (Ho Chi Minh City), you won’t be allowed entry. Choose carefully.
  6. Passport validity Your passport must have at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Vietnam. If your passport expires within 6 months of your trip, get a renewal done first.

Phu Quoc Island: The Visa-Free Exception Indian Travelers Should Know

This is one thing most e-Visa guides don’t explain clearly.

If you’re only visiting Phu Quoc Island (not mainland Vietnam), Indian citizens currently get 30 days visa-free.

The catch: you must fly directly into Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) and stay only on the island.

If you leave the island to visit the mainland — even for a day — you’ll need a valid visa.

Most Indian travelers visiting Vietnam see multiple cities (Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Long Bay), so the e-Visa is the right choice for most trips.

If your trip is Phu Quoc-only, the visa-free option works and saves you the fee.

What Travelers Who’ve Done This Say

Priya Menon, Bangalore — Visited Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, March 2026 “Applied on the official website, got the approval email in 4 days.

The only confusing part was uploading the photo — I had to redo it because my first one had a slight shadow.

Once I got a proper studio photo done, it went through immediately.”

Karan and Sejal Shah, Ahmedabad — Visited Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta, January 2026 “We applied 12 days before the trip.

It came in 3 working days.

Just make sure your passport scan is crystal clear — ours was slightly angled the first time and the system flagged it.

Resubmitted with a flat scan and it was approved in 2 days.”

FAQ: Vietnam e-Visa for Indians

Everything Indian travelers need to know before applying for a Vietnam e-Visa.

Can Indian citizens apply for Vietnam e-Visa online without visiting the embassy?

Yes. Indian passport holders can complete the Vietnam e-Visa process completely online through the official Vietnam immigration portal.

You need to fill the application form, upload your passport scan and photograph, pay the required fee online, and wait for email approval. No embassy visit or document courier is required.

How much does Vietnam e-Visa cost for Indians in 2026?

The official government fee for a single-entry Vietnam e-Visa is USD 25, while a multiple-entry e-Visa costs USD 50.

The fee is non-refundable and remains the same when you apply directly through the official immigration portal.

How long does Vietnam e-Visa processing take for Indian passport holders?

Standard processing usually takes 3–5 working days.

During peak travel periods or Vietnamese public holidays, processing can take longer. Applying 10–14 days before departure gives you a comfortable buffer.

What documents are needed for Vietnam e-Visa from India?

You need a passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date, two blank passport pages, a clear passport bio-page scan, a recent passport photograph, travel details, and a payment card for the visa fee.

Do I need to print my Vietnam e-Visa?

Yes. Carry a printed copy of your approved e-Visa.

Airlines may check it during check-in in India, and Vietnam immigration officers verify it on arrival. Do not rely only on a digital copy stored on your phone.

Can the Vietnam e-Visa be extended inside Vietnam?

Yes, extensions may be possible through Vietnam immigration authorities or registered visa agents.

Start the process before your visa expires, ideally at least 7–10 days in advance, as processing takes time.

Can Indians enter Vietnam at any airport with the e-Visa?

No. Your approved e-Visa mentions the entry checkpoint selected during your application.

You must enter through that approved airport or border checkpoint. Always confirm that your selected entry point matches your actual flight details.

What's the difference between Vietnam e-Visa and Visa on Arrival for Indians?

The Vietnam e-Visa is completed fully online before travel. You apply, pay, and receive approval before arriving.

Visa on Arrival requires additional approval arrangements before flying and involves extra steps at the airport. Most Indian travelers prefer the e-Visa because the process is clearer and more convenient.

Is Phu Quoc visa-free for Indians?

Indian travelers may enter Phu Quoc under specific visa exemption rules if they fly directly to Phu Quoc and remain on the island.

If your itinerary includes mainland Vietnam along with Phu Quoc, apply for a Vietnam e-Visa before traveling.

What are the most common reasons Vietnam e-Visa applications get rejected?

Common reasons include incorrect passport details, poor-quality passport scans, unsuitable photographs, incorrect travel dates, wrong entry points, and passports with less than 6 months validity.

Check every detail carefully before submitting your application to avoid delays.

Do I need travel insurance for Vietnam with an e-Visa?

Travel insurance is not mandatory for the Vietnam e-Visa, but it is strongly recommended.

Insurance can help with unexpected medical expenses, trip delays, cancellations, and baggage issues during your journey.

Can I enter Vietnam multiple times on a single-entry e-Visa?

No. A single-entry e-Visa allows only one entry into Vietnam.

If you leave Vietnam and plan to return, you need a multiple-entry e-Visa or another valid entry permission before coming back.
