A name error on a Georgia e-Visa loses the fee for good, and a couple files two applications.
The official portal says the fee is not refunded for a denied application, an unused visa or an information mismatch.
The only fix is a new application and a new fee.
Newlyweds whose passport name and booking names differ are exactly the travellers at risk.
Then the doubling begins: two insurance policies of GEL 30,000 each, and a US$3,000 cash cap on your wedding money.
This roadmap totals every line for two people, current as of 1 October 2026.
What Doubles On A Honeymoon And What Does Not
Your honeymoon total is the package price for two, plus entry costs for two, plus tax, flights and spending money.
Almost every line is priced per person.
Only the room and the vehicle are shared.
| Cost line | Per person or shared |
|---|---|
| Package price | Per person, twin-sharing |
| E-Visa | Per person |
| Insurance | Per person |
| Flights | Per person |
| Hotel room | Shared |
| Private vehicle | Shared |
We do not quote package prices here, because they depend on your dates and route.

All rupee figures use the National Bank of Georgia’s official rate for 1 October 2026.
At that rate, GEL 1 is about ₹36.79 and US$1 is about ₹95.83.
Rates move daily, so redo each sum on the day you pay.
For the line items that are the same for every traveller, read our Georgia trip cost from India guide and the Georgia trip cost breakdown from India.
This page covers what changes when two people travel together.
Entry Costs For Two
Two E-Visas, Two Fees
Georgia does not give Indian passport holders a visa on arrival, so most couples apply for an e-Visa.
The official e-Visa FAQ states the fee as “20 USD + 2% service fee”.
That is US$20.40, or about ₹1,955 per person.
For two, it is about ₹3,910.
Each traveller must file a separate application, whatever the relationship.
The card does not have to be in the applicant’s name, so one of you can pay for both.
Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted.
The portal advises you to give your companions’ details so your applications are examined jointly.
List each other.
The fee is non-refundable under all circumstances, and a decision takes not less than 5 working days.
Some visa guides report a separate identity-check fee of US$15 per person.
The official FAQ we opened does not list it, so confirm it on the portal before you pay.
If it applies, your cost for two rises by about ₹2,875.
Two Insurance Policies
Visit Georgia’s explainer says every tourist needs cover of at least GEL 30,000 per person from 1 January 2026.
That is about ₹11.04 lakh each.
It must cover your whole stay, arrival day to departure day.
The policy can be Georgian or foreign, on paper or on screen, in Georgian or English.
It must show the contract parties, the territory, the subject of insurance, the start and end dates, the insured risks, the limits and the premium terms.
GeoCover’s website lists its Visitor plan at GEL 3.95 a day with a GEL 30,000 limit.
Seven days costs GEL 27.65, about ₹1,017 per person and about ₹2,034 for two.
Its 10-day plan is GEL 36, about ₹1,324 per person.
Ask your insurer to name both of you, with a separate limit for each.
Cover For Paragliding And Skiing
GeoCover also lists an “Extreme” plan at GEL 17.5 a day.
For seven days, that is GEL 122.5, about ₹4,507 per person and about ₹9,014 for two.
The cheaper Visitor plan states that exclusions apply, and the page lists none.
We could not confirm which plan covers paragliding or skiing.
If either is on your honeymoon plan, get the exclusions in writing before you rely on the cheaper policy.
Newlywed Paperwork That Protects Your Money
Names Must Match Across Every Booking
The portal says the applicant is responsible for any mistake in the application.
Enter a middle name after your given name, and enter a single name in the surname field.
Apply with the name printed in the passport you will travel on.
Use that same spelling on your hotel vouchers and insurance certificate.
The border documents the portal lists are your passport, proof of the purpose of travel, proof of accommodation, travel and health insurance, and proof of sufficient funds.
It names no marriage certificate and no minimum bank balance.
At the border, those documents have to agree with each other.
Georgia’s Interior Ministry said in 2017 that guards can refuse entry when interview answers are unconvincing or the purpose of travel is false, OC Media reported.
We found no current published refusal figures for Indian travellers.
Changing Your Passport After Marriage
The Passport Seva portal lists a marriage certificate, or a joint photo declaration signed by both spouses (Annexure J), for adding a spouse's name. A surname change needs the same proof.
- Submit originals and self-attested copies at your Passport Seva Kendra.
- We could not confirm a processing time on the portal pages we opened.
- Finish any passport change before you apply for the e-Visa.
- The portal says an information mismatch loses the fee, and a new passport changes your document details.
Wedding Cash, Cards And Declaration Limits
- The RBI’s forex FAQ, dated 28 November 2025, allows foreign currency notes only up to US$3,000 per visit, about ₹2.87 lakh.
- The balance must go on stored-value cards, travellers’ cheques or a banker’s draft.
- We could not confirm from that page whether each spouse has a separate US$3,000 allowance, so ask your authorised dealer in writing.
- Canada’s Georgia advice says you must declare more than GEL 30,000, about ₹11.04 lakh, to customs, with fines and confiscation if you do not.
- It also warns that credit cards may not be widely accepted in rural areas.
- Keep lari or dollars for the mountain leg.
- Card charges differ by bank, so read your card’s foreign-currency markup in its own terms.
Medical bills are a cash problem too.
Canada’s advice says immediate up-front payment is often required, and evacuation can be very expensive.
It advises insurance that includes hospital stays and evacuation.
The GEL 30,000 minimum is a legal floor, not a plan.
What A Honeymoon Package Covers And Leaves Out
Twin-Sharing And The Double Bed Question
A Roaming Legs Georgia package includes 5-star hotels, a private vehicle for the full trip and full-board meals.
It also includes a private airport transfer.
Visa assistance is free, and you pay only the government fee.
Our honeymoon trips are built around quiet mountain stays, private transfers between destinations and a pace set for two.
Prices are per person on a twin-sharing basis, so a couple pays twice the per-person figure.
Twin-sharing means two people share a room.
We could not confirm that the term guarantees a double bed, so ask for the bed type in writing.
Extras Priced Per Couple
- Ask for optional extras, flights, and all prices in writing for two people.
- We found no trusted published India–Tbilisi fare, so we quote none.

The 2% Tax On A Couple’s Package
KPMG’s Union Budget 2026-27 tourism note, dated 1 February 2026, confirms tax collected at source on overseas tour packages is cut to 2%.
The note does not state an effective date, so ask your seller which rate applies to your payment date.
On an illustrative ₹3,00,000 package for two, 2% is ₹6,000.
It is a tax credit, not a fee.
It still leaves your account on the day you pay.
We could not confirm from an official source whose return gets the credit when one spouse pays for both.
Ask the seller which PAN will appear on the invoice, and ask for the tax as a separate line.
What Georgia’s Own Data Says About Spending
Geostat’s 2025 inbound tourism release, published 30 January 2026, gives an average spend of GEL 2,187.3 per visit.
That is about ₹80,500 over an average stay of 5.6 nights.
It covers all nationalities and lists no India-specific figure.
Do not read it as a budget for two.
| Category | Share of spend |
|---|---|
| Shopping | 28.4% |
| Accommodation | 25.4% |
| Foods and drinks | 23.3% |
| Leisure and cultural activities | 13.0% |
| Local transport | 8.7% |
| Other | 1.2% |
Accommodation, food and local transport total 57.4%.
A package with full board and a private vehicle prepays most of that share.
Your open lines are shopping, activities and extras, so give them their own number.
Your Honeymoon Budget Worksheet, Step By Step

- Add 2% of the package value as tax collected at source.
- Add two flight fares for your dates and route.
- Add your card’s markup to everything you pay by card.
- Set a separate number for shopping, activities and extras.
- Split your cash between the RBI cap, a card and a forex instrument.
- Convert every lari figure again on the day you pay.
Finish steps 2 to 4 before you buy non-refundable flights.
Honeymoon Budget Mistakes That Cost Money
- Applying with a name that differs from the passport you will travel on.
- Changing your passport after you apply for the e-Visa.
- Buying one insurance policy for two people.
- Skipping the companion details on the e-Visa form.
- Assuming the cheaper insurance plan covers paragliding or skiing.
- Carrying wedding cash above the RBI note limit.
- Comparing two quotes without checking flights, bed type and extras.
