"Georgia 10-Day Trip Cost From India: The Full Budget, Line By Line "

How Much Does a 10-Day Georgia Trip Cost from India?

Your Georgia package price is not your 10-day cost.

Georgia’s e-Visa fee is US$20 plus a 2% service fee, and the official portal says it is not refunded.

Every tourist also needs insurance of at least GEL 30,000, about ₹11.04 lakh, covering all 10 days from arrival to departure.

On top of the package, your Indian seller collects 2% tax at source, which is ₹4,000 on a ₹2,00,000 booking.

Flights sit outside the package price, and we could not confirm a current nonstop from India.

This roadmap builds your 10-day total line by line, current as of 1 October 2026.

What A 10-Day Georgia Trip Costs In Total

Your total is the package price plus six other lines.

Only one of them, the package, comes from your operator.

What A 10-Day Georgia Trip Costs In Total
Cost Line Who Sets It What We Verified
Package, 9 nights, twin-sharing Your operator Price [INPUT REQUIRED]
TCS on the package Indian seller 2% of the package
E-visa fee Georgian government US$20.40, about ₹1,955
Mandatory insurance Your insurer Cover of GEL 30,000 or more
Flights Airline Not in the package
Cash and extras You Depends on your choices

We converted every amount at the National Bank of Georgia’s official rates on 1 October 2026.

On that day, 1 US dollar was 2.6047 lari and 100 rupees were 2.7181 lari.

That makes US$1 about ₹95.83 and 1 lari about ₹36.79.

Rates move daily, so treat each rupee figure as approximate.

We found no official price list for flights or insurance premiums.

So this blog shows you how to price them instead of guessing.

A longer trip dilutes the fixed costs.

The visa fee is about ₹196 a day over 10 days, and about ₹391 a day over 5.

The Cost Stack Line By Line

The Cost Stack Line By Line

The Package Price And What Full Board Covers

Roaming Legs’ 10-day route covers Tbilisi, Kakheti, Gudauri, Kazbegi, Borjomi and Batumi.

It runs about 900 km by private vehicle, with 5-star hotels and full board.

Prices are per person on a twin-sharing basis.

Roaming Legs charges nothing for visa assistance, so you pay only the government fee.

The final per-person price for 10 days is [INPUT REQUIRED].

Ask for these answers in writing before you compare any two quotes:

  • Does full board include drinks?
  • Does it include meals on the two longest drive days?
  • Which entrance fees and activities are already paid?
  • Is the Gergeti church 4×4 in the price or an extra?
  • Are cable car rides and wine tastings in the price or extras?

A package with a lower headline price can simply leave more of these on your tab.

Flights Are Not In The Price

Flights are an optional add-on, not part of the package.

IndiGo began Delhi–Tbilisi flights in August 2023.

It then cancelled Tbilisi flights from 26 January 2026, citing tensions around Iran, as National Herald reported.

Later reports extended the cancellations to 28 March 2026.

We found no confirmed resumption.

We also found no airline or government source listing current fares.

So here is how to price it:

  • Check the airline’s own booking page for your exact dates.
  • Compare the total fare with baggage, not the headline fare.
  • Ask whether a flight added to your package is quoted per person with taxes.
  • Do not buy a non-refundable fare before your e-Visa decision.

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

If you land after midnight, your insurance and first hotel night must start on the landing date.

The E-Visa Fee In Rupees

Georgia gives Indian passport holders no visa on arrival.

The official e-Visa portal FAQ states the fee as “20 USD + 2% service fee”.

That is US$20.40, about ₹1,955 per applicant.

The portal says the fee is not refundable.

It also says the applicant is responsible for any mistakes in the application.

You must pay by Visa or MasterCard within 5 hours of the email notification.

Miss the window and the application is cancelled.

A RuPay-only card will not work.

Wego reports a separate US$15 DuVerify identity check.

The portal FAQ we opened does not mention it, so confirm it on the portal before you pay.

With it, the total would be US$35.40, about ₹3,392.

Wego’s 2026 guide also says a currently valid visa or residence permit from countries such as the US, UK, Schengen states, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea and the UAE allows visa-free entry.

If you hold one, your visa line is ₹0.

Budget the fee for every traveller, including children.

Insurance Requirement

Insurance Cover Of GEL 30,000 For All 10 Days

Visit Georgia states that all tourists entering Georgia from 1 January 2026 need insurance of at least GEL 30,000. At the 1 October 2026 rate, that is about ₹11.04 lakh of cover.

What The Policy Must Cover

  • The cover must run from arrival to departure.
  • On this route, that means 10 days on one policy with no gaps.
  • The policy can be Georgian or foreign.
  • It can be in Georgian or English, on paper or on screen.

Seven Details To Check

  • The parties to the contract
  • The covered territory
  • The subject of insurance
  • The start and end dates
  • The insured risks
  • The coverage limits
  • The premium amount and payment terms

Buying rule: get quotes for your exact 10 dates and pay only after the certificate shows all seven items. The GEL 30,000 minimum is a legal floor, not a medical plan. Canada's travel advice for Georgia says medical services can be expensive, upfront payment is often required, and medical evacuation cover is advised. Whether Roaming Legs recommends or arranges an insurer is [INPUT REQUIRED].

The 2% TCS On Your Package

India’s Income Tax Department Section 394 table sets TCS on an overseas tour programme package at 2%.

It covers packages including expenses for travel, hotel stay, boarding or lodging.

The rate applies from 1 April 2026 and has no threshold.

Before that, it was 5% up to ₹10 lakh and 20% above.

KPMG’s Union Budget 2026-27 tourism note confirms the cut to 2%.

On an illustrative ₹2,00,000 package, TCS is ₹4,000.

The seller collects it when you pay.

It shows in your Form 26AS, and you claim it against your income tax in your return.

Ask for TCS as a separate line on your invoice.

Because the section includes travel expenses, ask whether your flight sits on the same invoice as the package.

If it does, TCS applies to that amount too.

Cash, Cards And The Declaration Limit

The currency is the lari.

Canada’s travel advice says credit cards may not be widely accepted in rural areas.

On this route, Kazbegi, Kakheti and Borjomi sit outside the two big cities.

Carry lari cash for those stops.

Use licensed exchange counters only.

The same advice says you must declare to customs cash or instruments above GEL 30,000 or the equivalent.

That is about ₹11.04 lakh.

Most travellers will never reach it, but a family pooling cash can.

Optional extras are usually quoted in lari.

Convert them at the day’s rate before you compare them with your rupee budget.

What Moves Your 10-Day Number

What Moves Your 10-Day Number

Season And Travel Month

Package prices can differ by travel month.

Ask for the price for your exact month in writing, not a yearly “from” figure.

For winter, ask what happens to the Kazbegi leg if the road shuts.

On 10 February 2026, Georgia’s Roads Department banned all vehicles on the Gudauri–Kobi section because of avalanche danger, Georgia Today reported.

Ask who pays for any change to hotels or transfers.

Travelling Solo

Package prices assume two people sharing a room.

A solo traveller pays a single supplement.

The supplement amount is [INPUT REQUIRED].

Visa and insurance are per person, so a solo traveller pays them in full too.

10-Day Route Check

Route Changes And The 900 Km Of Driving

The 10-day route is the 7-day route plus Batumi and Borjomi. It spends 3 nights in Batumi. The drive from Tbilisi to Batumi is 372 km, about 5 hours 40 minutes via the E60 through Kutaisi.

  • 7-day route plus Batumi
  • Borjomi included
  • 3 nights in Batumi
  • 372 km to Batumi
  • About 5 hr 40 min drive

Route rule: the standard route returns to Tbilisi by road. If you would rather skip that drive, ask for a priced alternative in writing, because it is not part of the standard route. Dropping Batumi and Borjomi turns the trip into the 7-day route and changes the price. The full day-by-day plan is in our Georgia 10-day itinerary.

Budget Planning Checklist

Your Budget Planning Order, Step By Step

  1. Get the final per-person package price in writing, with the room basis stated.
  2. Ask for TCS as a separate invoice line and check that it is 2%.
  3. Ask for an itemised list of what the price includes and excludes.
  4. Fix your dates and check airline booking pages, without buying non-refundable fares.
  5. Check whether a valid foreign visa gives you visa-free entry.
  6. If not, apply for the e-Visa with a Visa or Mastercard and your email open.
  7. After approval, book flights and note your landing date.
  8. Buy insurance showing all seven details, from landing date to departure date.
  9. Plan lari cash for the rural legs, below the GEL 30,000 declaration limit.

Mistakes That Cost Money

  • Treating the package price as the total.
  • Buying non-refundable flights before the e-Visa decision.
  • Paying the e-Visa fee with a RuPay-only card.
  • Missing the 5-hour payment window and starting again.
  • Fixing a typo by reapplying, with no refund of the first fee.
  • Buying insurance that covers fewer than all 10 days.
  • Starting insurance on the departure date when you land after midnight.
  • Accepting a TCS charge that is not a separate invoice line.
  • Assuming a card will work at every stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does The 2% TCS Apply To My Whole Georgia Package?

Yes, to the package amount you pay.

The Section 394 table covers overseas tour programme packages, including travel, hotel and boarding expenses.

Ask for it as a separate invoice line so you can claim it.

Is The Georgia E-Visa Fee Refundable If I Cancel My Trip?

No.

The official portal says the e-Visa fee is not refundable.

Confirm your dates before you apply.

Can One Person Pay The E-Visa Fee For The Whole Family?

Yes, with a Visa or MasterCard.

The card does not need to be in the traveller's name.

Each traveller still needs a separate application and fee.

Will My RuPay Card Work For The E-Visa Payment?

No, not on its own.

The portal accepts only Visa or MasterCard.

Keep one ready before you start, because you have 5 hours to pay.

Does My Indian Insurance Policy Meet The GEL 30,000 Rule?

Only if it covers Georgia, shows at least GEL 30,000 and carries all seven mandatory details.

It must also cover your arrival and departure dates.

If an item is missing, buy a Georgian policy.

Does Insurance Have To Cover Every One Of The 10 Days?

Yes.

Visit Georgia says cover must run from arrival to departure.

If you land after midnight, start the policy on the landing date.

Can I Buy Flights Before The E-Visa Decision?

You can, but you carry the risk.

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days, and it does not promise approval.

Wait for approval before buying non-refundable fares.

Is There A Direct Flight From India Right Now?

We could not confirm it.

IndiGo cancelled Tbilisi flights from 26 January 2026, and we found no confirmed restart.

Check the airline's booking page for your dates before you budget for a nonstop.

How Much Cash Can I Carry Into Georgia?

You must declare cash or instruments above GEL 30,000 or the equivalent.

That is about ₹11.04 lakh at the 1 October 2026 rate.

Below that, no declaration is needed under the limit Canada's advice reports.

Will My Cards Work Outside Tbilisi And Batumi?

Not reliably.

Canada's advice says cards may not be widely accepted in rural areas.

Carry lari for Kazbegi, Kakheti and Borjomi.

What Happens If I Need A Hospital In Georgia?

Expect to pay first.

Canada's advice says immediate upfront payment is often required.

Keep your insurer's helpline and policy certificate with you, and pick cover that includes evacuation.

What Should I Ask For In Writing Before I Pay?

Ask for five things:

  • the final per-person price for your month
  • the single supplement, if you travel alone
  • the itemised inclusions
  • the TCS line
  • the cancellation terms

Compare quotes only when all five match.

10-Day Cost Stack

Turn This Cost Stack Into Your Own Number

Your 10-day total is a sum, not a price. Take the package price you are quoted and add 2% TCS, about ₹1,955 for the visa, your insurance premium, flights and lari cash.

  • Package price
  • 2% TCS
  • About ₹1,955 visa
  • Insurance premium
  • Flights
  • Lari cash

Next step: share your dates and group size, and our team will call you back within 1 hour with a quote you can add up.

"Georgia 7-Day Trip Cost From India (2026): The Full Bill "

How Much Does a 7-Day Georgia Trip Cost from India?

The package price is not your Georgia 7-day trip cost.

Since 1 January 2026, every tourist needs health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000, and that policy is a separate purchase.

Your e-Visa fee is charged per traveller, and the official portal does not refund it, even if you are denied.

India’s Union Budget 2026-27 cut the tax collected at source on overseas tour packages to 2%, and it is added on top of what you pay.

A family of four pays the visa fee four times and buys four insurance certificates.

This roadmap shows every line of a one-week Georgia bill and who charges it, current as of 1 October 2026.

What One Week In Georgia Really Costs

What One Week In Georgia Really Costs

Your 7-day Georgia trip cost has six parts.

  • Your package or land quote.
  • The 2% tax on that package.
  • Flights.
  • The e-Visa fee for each traveller.
  • Mandatory insurance for each traveller.
  • Your own spending money.

Only the first line comes from the tour operator.

Georgia Today, relaying national statistics, reported an average spend of GEL 2,187.3 per visit in 2025, with an average stay of 5.6 nights.

At the National Bank of Georgia’s rate on 30 September 2026, US1equalsGEL2.6051,sothatisaboutUS840.

Treat this as a benchmark only.

It covers every nationality, including visitors from neighbouring countries on short trips, and it is not an Indian-traveller figure.

We found no official published budget for Indian tourists.

Here is how the lines fall due.

Cost Line Who Charges It When You Pay
Package or land quote Your tour operator At booking
2% tax on the package Collected by the seller When you pay the operator
Flights Your airline or agent At ticketing
E-Visa fee Georgia's e-Visa portal During the online application
Insurance Your insurer Before you travel
Spending money Shops, cafes, drivers During the trip
The Seven Cost Lines, One By One

The Seven Cost Lines, One By One

Line 1: Your Package Or Land Quote

A quote is only comparable if it states its basis.

Ask every operator to write these down before you compare totals:

  • the price per person and the occupancy it assumes, usually twin-sharing
  • the single-traveller supplement, if you travel alone
  • which entry fees, cable cars, 4×4 rides and tastings are included
  • whether flights and the 2% tax are in the figure or on top
  • the cancellation terms

Roaming Legs’ standard packages include a private airport transfer and visa assistance at no extra charge.

You still pay the government visa fee yourself.

Ask every other operator whether their price includes a transfer.

Line 2: The 2% Tax On Your Package

India’s Budget 2026-27 tax reform note says the TCS rate on an overseas tour programme package is reduced to 2%, from 5% and 20%.

KPMG’s tourism note on the same budget confirms the 2% rate.

Neither document gives a threshold or an effective date, so ask your operator how they apply it to your booking.

As plain arithmetic, a ₹1,00,000 package would carry ₹2,000 of tax.

That figure is an illustration, not a quote.

The tax is a deposit against your income tax, not a fee.

Ask for it as a separate line on your invoice, and check that it appears in your Form 26AS before you file your return.

Line 3: Flights

We found no official fare table for India to Tbilisi, and airlines set fares by date and route.

So this blog gives no flight price.

Two rules protect your money.

  • Do not buy a non-refundable ticket until your e-Visa decision arrives.
  • Match your return date to the stay your approved e-Visa allows.

Routes and airline changes are covered in our guide to how to reach Georgia from India.

Line 4: E-Visa Fee For Every Traveller

The official e-Visa portal states a fee of US$20 plus a 2% service fee.

It says the fee is not refunded if the application is denied or the visa is never used.

Wego’s April 2026 guide reports a separate US15identitycheck,whichtakesthetotaltoaboutUS35.40 per person.

The portal FAQ does not mention that US$15, so confirm the final amount on the payment screen.

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Each traveller needs a separate application, including children.

The portal accepts only Visa and Mastercard, and one card can pay for the whole family.

For four travellers, the base fee alone is 4 × US20.40,whichisUS81.60.

If the identity check applies, add 4 × US$15.

Line 5: Mandatory Insurance

Visit Georgia’s explainer on the insurance rule says cover must be at least GEL 30,000 and valid from arrival to departure.

The policy can be Georgian or foreign, on paper or on screen.

It must show:

  • the contract parties
  • the covered territory
  • the subject of insurance
  • the start and end dates
  • the insured risks
  • the coverage limits
  • the premium amount, place of payment and payment terms

Check each item on your certificate before you travel.

Canada’s travel advice for Georgia warns that medical services can be expensive and that up-front payment is often required.

It also warns that medical evacuation can be very expensive.

So the GEL 30,000 minimum is a legal floor, not a safe budget.

We found no official premium table, so insurance prices must come from your own quotes.

Ask your operator in writing whether the premium is inside their price.

Line 6: Money On The Ground

Some ground costs have official numbers.

  • Tbilisi Airport’s official taxi page lists a fixed GEL 40 to the city centre and GEL 50 to suburban areas.
  • Tbilisi Transport Company charges GEL 1 for 90 minutes of metro and bus travel, and the Metromoney card costs GEL 2.
  • You must declare cash or instruments above GEL 30,000, or the equivalent, to customs, per Canada’s advice.

Cards can fail outside the cities, so carry some cash for rural stops.

Tbilisi Airport also says foreign citizens can claim a VAT refund before leaving, on goods from shops authorised by the Revenue Service.

We could not confirm the minimum purchase or the refund rate.

Ask the shop for the special refund receipt at the till, not after.

Line 7: Spending Money

The honest way to plan this line is to decide which extras you want.

Typical extras on a Georgia route include:

  • a cable car ticket
  • a 4×4 ride to a mountain church
  • a wine tasting
  • shopping
  • tips

We found no trusted published price list for these, so we give no per-day figure.

Ask your operator which extras are included, and price the rest from their written list.

If you want a benchmark, use the national average above and adjust it for your pace.

Cost Comparison

Package Versus Do-It-Yourself: What Changes On The Bill

A package moves some lines inside one price. A do-it-yourself trip moves them onto your card, one by one.

Package Trip

Hotels, meals, vehicle support and some planning lines may sit inside one quoted price. The useful question is what is included, what is excluded and what stays extra.

Do-It-Yourself Trip

  • Airport transfer: fixed GEL 40 taxi fare, or an app fare you must check.
  • City transport: in Tbilisi you can pay GEL 1 per 90 minutes.
  • Mountain legs: Kazbegi and Gudauri need a vehicle, with price based on negotiation or operator.
  • Hotels and meals: DIY puts them on your daily spend.
  • Visa support: you complete the application yourself either way, and the fee is yours either way.

Planning rule: the question is not which is cheaper. It is which bill you can predict. Ask each option for a written list of what is covered, then add the lines from the ledger above.

Three Things That Move Your Total

Party Size And Per-Person Fees

Visa and insurance multiply with every traveller.

A package quote assumes an occupancy, so a solo traveller usually pays a supplement.

Ask for the supplement amount in writing.

Travel Month

Package prices can change with the month you travel.

Our guide to the best time to visit Georgia shows what each season allows.

A cheaper month can also mean a closed mountain road, so ask what the plan is if a road closes.

Rupee-To-Lari Movement

The lari is what you spend on the ground.

The National Bank of Georgia’s rate was US$1 = GEL 2.6051 on 30 September 2026.

We could not open an official rupee rate for the same day, so we give no rupee conversion.

Convert at your bank’s rate on the day you buy forex.

Booking Budget Checklist

Add It Up Before You Book: Your Planning Order

  1. Ask for a written quote that states occupancy, inclusions and whether the 2% tax is on top.
  2. Add the 2% tax to the package price.
  3. Check your passport and photo against the e-Visa rules.
  4. Price the e-Visa as the fee times the number of travellers.
  5. Fix your dates and check flight fare rules before you buy.
  6. Get an insurance certificate that shows all seven mandatory details.
  7. Add a spending line from your own list of extras.
  8. Add all the lines and compare quotes on the total, not the package price.

Mistakes That Cost Money

  • Comparing package prices that assume different occupancy.
  • Forgetting that visa and insurance are charged per person.
  • Buying non-refundable flights before the e-Visa decision.
  • Paying the visa with a card that is not Visa or Mastercard.
  • Buying insurance that lacks a mandatory detail.
  • Skipping the 2% tax when you compare totals.
  • Assuming cards work in every village.
  • Carrying more than GEL 30,000 in cash without declaring it.
  • Asking for a VAT refund after the purchase instead of at the till.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Insurance Included In A Georgia Package Price?

Not automatically.

Insurance is a separate purchase unless your quote says otherwise.

Ask for the line in writing, and check the certificate shows all seven mandatory details.

How Much Is The Georgia E-Visa Fee For A Family Of Four?

The portal states US$20 plus 2% per person.

For four travellers, that is US$81.60.

Wego reports an extra US$15 identity check per person, so confirm the total on the payment screen.

Do I Pay 2% Tax On The Whole Georgia Package?

The Budget 2026-27 documents say the rate is 2% on an overseas tour programme package.

They give no threshold or effective date.

Ask your operator how they apply it to your invoice.

Can I Claim Back The 2% Tax?

It is a deposit against your income tax, not a fee.

It should appear in your Form 26AS.

Ask your tax adviser how to claim it in your return.

Is The Visa Fee Refunded If My Application Is Rejected?

No.

The portal states that fees are not refunded if the application is denied or the visa goes unused.

Check every detail before you pay.

Should I Buy Flights Before The Visa Decision?

Only if the ticket is refundable.

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Apply first, then book, or read the fare rules for free changes.

How Much Cash Can I Carry Into Georgia?

You must declare more than GEL 30,000, or the equivalent, to customs.

Canada's advice says non-compliance can mean fines and confiscation.

Carry less if you can.

Will My Indian Card Work Outside Tbilisi?

Not always.

Canada's advice says credit cards may not be widely accepted in rural areas.

Carry some cash for Kazbegi, Gudauri and Kakheti stops.

What Does A Taxi From Tbilisi Airport Cost?

The official airport taxi charges a fixed GEL 40 to the city centre and GEL 50 to suburban areas.

It runs 24 hours.

If you book a Roaming Legs package, a private airport transfer is already included.

How Much Does Public Transport In Tbilisi Cost?

GEL 1 buys 90 minutes of unlimited travel on metro, bus and minibus.

The Metromoney card costs GEL 2.

Keep the card receipt, because a lost card can be restored only with it.

Can I Get VAT Refunded On Shopping In Georgia?

Possibly.

Tbilisi Airport says foreign citizens can claim it before leaving, on goods from authorised shops.

We could not confirm the minimum purchase or the rate, so ask the shop before you buy.

Does A Solo Traveller Pay More For Seven Days?

Usually yes.

Package prices assume an occupancy, and a single supplement applies for solo bookings.

Ask for the amount in writing and compare it across quotes.

What Does A Hospital Visit Cost Without Good Insurance?

We found no published tariff.

Canada's advice says up-front cash payment is often required and that evacuation can be very expensive.

Buy cover that includes hospital stays and evacuation.

"Georgia 5-Day Trip Cost: Visa, Insurance, Tax And Flights Added Up "

Georgia 5-Day Trip Cost: What 4 Nights Really Add Up To

The Georgia e-Visa fee is non-refundable, even if your flight never flies.

The official portal says the fee is not returned if the visa is denied, unused or filed with an error.

Business Standard reported on 27 January 2026 that IndiGo cancelled its Tbilisi flights over Iran airspace tensions, and we could not confirm a restart.

Since 1 January 2026, every tourist also needs insurance of at least GEL 30,000, which is about ₹11 lakh of cover.

On 4 nights, those fixed costs weigh as much as on 10 nights, so they take a bigger share of your budget.

Add 2% tax collected at source on an overseas package, and the real total is higher than the package price.

This roadmap adds up the whole bill for a 5-day Georgia trip, current as of 1 October 2026.

What A 5-Day Georgia Trip Costs In Total

What A 5-Day Georgia Trip Costs In Total

The total is the land cost, plus flights, plus the e-Visa, plus insurance, plus tax collected at source (TCS).

The costs we can verify, excluding flights and land, come to about ₹2,300 to ₹3,800.

Our planning range for flights is ₹35,000 to ₹65,000 per person, return.

That puts your outlay at roughly ₹37,000 to ₹69,000 before the land cost and TCS.

No official source publishes hotel or meal prices for Georgia.

So we do not quote nightly rates, and the land section below shows how to price them instead.

All rupee figures use the National Bank of Georgia’s rate on 1 October 2026, which was ₹36.79 per lari and ₹95.83 per US dollar.

The bank calls its rate indicative, and it moves daily.

The Four Costs That Do Not Shrink With A Shorter Trip

The Four Costs That Do Not Shrink With A Shorter Trip

A visa, insurance and a return flight cost the same whether you stay 4 nights or 9.

Spread a ₹40,000 flight over 5 days and it is ₹8,000 a day.

Spread it over 10 days and it is ₹4,000 a day.

That is why a 5-day trip never feels cheap per day, even when the total is modest.

Flights

We could not confirm that IndiGo’s direct Tbilisi flights have restarted.

Check goindigo.in for your exact dates before you plan around a nonstop.

No official source publishes fares for this route.

Skyscanner lists Delhi–Tbilisi returns from ₹39,556 on one date, and treat that as a listing, not a quote.

A competitor blog from February 2026 puts connecting fares at ₹32,000 to ₹38,000.

Neither figure is a fare you can rely on, so price your own dates on an airline site.

Our guide to how to reach Georgia from India covers the routes.

E-Visa And The Non-Refundable Fee

The official e-Visa portal charges US$20 plus a 2% service fee.

That is US$20.40, or about ₹1,955.

Wego’s guide, updated on 29 April 2026, reports a separate US$15 identity check called DuVerify.

With it, the total is about US$35.40, or ₹3,392.

The portal pages we opened do not mention DuVerify, so confirm it when you apply.

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Wego reports the visa allows 30 days within a 120-day window from approval.

The fee is not refunded if the visa is unused.

So confirm your flights before you pay for the visa.

Roaming Legs does not add a service charge for visa assistance, so you pay only the government fee.

Our Georgia visa guide for Indians covers documents and timing.

Mandatory Insurance

Georgia’s insurance rule took effect on 1 January 2026.

The minimum cover is GEL 30,000, which is about ₹11 lakh.

It must cover the whole stay, from arrival to departure.

The policy must be in Georgian or English, on paper or on screen.

Irao, a Georgian insurer, says its visitor policy starts from GEL 2 per day.

For 5 days, that is about GEL 10, or ₹368.

That is a starting price, so a policy with hospital and evacuation cover will cost more.

If you hold an Indian policy, check that it states the amount, the dates and the territory.

  3. Add insurance at your quoted premium, for example ₹1,017 to ₹1,472 for seven days on GeoCover's lists.
  4. Add TCS at 2% of the package value.
  5. Add your flight fare for your dates and route.
  6. Add card charges at about 4.1% of every amount you pay by card.
  7. Set a separate cash number for shopping, activities and extras.
  8. Re-convert every lari figure on your booking day.

Planning rule: do steps 2 to 4 before you buy non-refundable flights.

Travel Readiness Checklist

  1. Read the FCDO, US and Canadian advisories for your dates.
  2. Check your airline's notice for your route.
  3. Complete visa and insurance steps using our visa guide.
  4. Plan forex within the US$3,000 note limit and carry a card for the rest.
  5. Check whether your operator's roaming pack covers Georgia.
  6. Fix your airport pickup against your landing time.
  7. Note your landing day, because banks shut at 14:00 on Saturdays.

  9. Save 112 and the embassy numbers offline.

What The Land Portion Can Look Like

The land portion is hotels, transport, meals and sightseeing for 4 nights.

On the 5-day route, that is Tbilisi and Kazbegi.

You can buy it as a package or book every piece yourself.

If You Book A Package

Roaming Legs’ 5-day route covers Tbilisi and Kazbegi.

It includes 5-star hotels, a private vehicle and full-board meals.

A private airport transfer is part of every package.

Flights are optional, so they are not in the land price unless you ask for them.

Our team gives you the exact 5-day price for your dates.

A single-traveller supplement applies if you travel alone, so ask for that figure too.

See the 5-day Georgia itinerary for the route.

If You Book Everything Yourself

Price each night, each transfer and each meal on the supplier’s own site.

Then add the Tbilisi to Kazbegi drive, which a private vehicle or a shared van covers.

Georgia Today, citing national statistics office Geostat, reports an average of GEL 2,187 per international visitor per trip in 2025.

That is about ₹80,460, over an average stay of 5.6 nights.

The figure covers all visitors, mostly from neighbouring countries.

It is a reference point for ground spending, not an Indian package price.

Use it to sense-check your own total, not to set your budget.

See Georgia trip cost from India for the cost picture across trip lengths.

Cash, Cards And Hospital Payment

Canada’s Georgia advice says medical services can be expensive.

It adds that immediate up-front payment is often required.

It also warns that credit cards may not work in rural areas.

Kazbegi is a rural stop, so carry some cash for it.

Keep enough card limit free for a hospital deposit.

The insurance reimburses you later, but the hospital may ask you to pay first.

Canada’s advice also says medical evacuation can be very costly.

A policy that only meets the GEL 30,000 floor may leave a gap.

Canada’s advice also says you must declare cash above GEL 30,000 to customs, so keep your cash well below that.

Count Usable Days, Not Days On The Ticket

A 5-day trip has 4 hotel nights, and the first and last days are partly lost to flights.

IndiGo’s 2025 Mumbai schedule landed in Tbilisi at 14:00 and left at 15:00 on the return.

That schedule is from 2025, and the route is not confirmed for now.

It still shows the point: your flight times decide how many sightseeing hours you pay for.

A late-night landing can mean paying for a hotel night you barely use.

Ask which date your first hotel night starts, and check that your insurance starts the same day.

Choose flights that land by afternoon and leave late, if the fare allows.

The Winter Road Risk To Your Budget

On 10 February 2026, Georgia Today reported a ban on all vehicles on the Gudauri–Kobi section, km 93 to 107.

The reason was avalanche danger.

Traffic on the Mleta–Gudauri stretch was allowed only on a non-stop transit basis.

Kazbegi sits beyond that stretch, so a closure can cut it off.

A 4-night trip has no spare day to absorb that.

If you travel between November and March, ask in writing what happens if the road closes.

Ask whether you get a replacement day, a refund or a changed route.

We have not confirmed any winter-road capability for Roaming Legs trips, so do not assume one.

Our best time to visit Georgia page shows what each season allows.

Booking Checklist

Your Planning Order, Step By Step

  1. Fix your travel dates and price flights on the airline's own site.
  2. Confirm that your flights are on sale and not cancelled.
  3. Ask for the 5-day land price and the single-traveller supplement.
  4. Ask whether TCS is a separate line and whether the flight is in the invoice.
  5. Apply for the e-Visa once your flights are firm.
  6. Buy insurance showing at least GEL 30,000 from arrival to departure.
  7. Keep a card limit free for a hospital deposit and carry some cash.

Mistakes That Cost Money

  • Paying for the e-Visa before your flight is confirmed.
  • Planning around a direct flight that is not on sale.
  • Buying insurance that starts after you land.
  • Leaving TCS off your budget.
  • Choosing a policy that only meets the GEL 30,000 floor.
  • Booking a winter Kazbegi trip with no written closure plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is The Georgia E-Visa Fee Refundable If My Flight Is Cancelled?

No.

The official portal says the fee is not returned if the visa is denied, unused or filed with an error.

Confirm your flights before you pay.

How Much Is The Georgia E-Visa In Rupees?

The official fee is US$20.40, about ₹1,955.

Wego reports a further US$15 DuVerify check, taking the total to about ₹3,392.

Treat the rupee figures as approximate, because the rate moves daily.

When Should I Apply For A 4-Night Trip?

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Wego reports a 30-day stay within a 120-day window from approval.

Apply after your flights are firm, and not earlier than your trip needs.

How Much Does The Mandatory Insurance Cost For 5 Days?

Irao says its visitor policy starts from GEL 2 per day.

For 5 days, that is about GEL 10, or ₹368.

A policy with hospital and evacuation cover will cost more.

Does My Indian Travel Policy Meet The GEL 30,000 Rule?

Only if it states at least GEL 30,000 and covers arrival to departure.

It must show the parties, territory, risks, limits, dates and premium.

If anything is missing, buy a Georgian policy.

Is TCS Charged On My Georgia Package?

Yes, at 2%.

Section 394 sets the rate for an overseas tour package.

Claim it in your income-tax return, and ask for it as a separate line.

Does The 2% TCS Apply To The Flight In My Package?

It can.

Section 394 defines the package to include travel and hotel stay.

Ask the seller whether the flight is in the invoice.

Does The 20% LRS Tax Apply To A 5-Day Trip?

Not unless your foreign remittance passes ₹10 lakh.

Section 394 shows 20% above that threshold for purposes other than education or medical care.

A 5-day trip normally stays well below it.

Do I Need Cash, Or Will Cards Work?

Carry both.

Canada's advice says cards may not work in rural areas.

Carry some cash for Kazbegi.

Who Pays The Hospital First?

You may have to.

Canada's advice says up-front payment is often required.

Keep card headroom free, then claim from your insurer.

Is There A Single-Traveller Supplement On A 5-Day Package?

Yes.

Roaming Legs' per-person prices assume two people sharing.

Ask for the supplement amount when you enquire.

Will A Road Closure Add Hotel Costs?

It can, in winter.

On 10 February 2026, a section of the Kazbegi road was closed to all vehicles for avalanche danger.

Ask in writing who pays for an extra night.

Is There A Direct Flight From India Right Now?

We could not confirm it.

Business Standard reported IndiGo's Tbilisi cancellations in January 2026, and we found no official restart.

Check goindigo.in for your exact dates.

Georgia Trip Cost Breakdown from India: Every Line Item In Rupees (2026)

How Much Does a Georgia Trip from India Cost in 2026?

The Georgia e-Visa costs about US35.40,nottheUS20 on the official fee line.

The official portal lists US$20 plus a 2% service fee, and says the fee is not refundable even if your visa is denied.

Wego and Tata AIG report a further US$15 identity check, due within 24 hours.

Insurance of at least GEL 30,000 is compulsory, and one insurer lists it from GEL 3.95 a day.

Tax collected at source takes 2% of your package upfront, and an Indian credit card adds about 4.1% on every lari you spend.

This roadmap totals each line in rupees at the National Bank of Georgia’s official rate, current as of 1 October 2026.

The Five Cost Layers In A Georgia Budget

The Five Cost Layers In A Georgia Budget

Every Georgia budget from India has the same layers.

  • Layer 1: the package price, which covers what your operator has prepaid.
  • Layer 2: entry costs, meaning the e-Visa and mandatory insurance.
  • Layer 3: tax and card charges, meaning TCS on the package and fees on every card payment.
  • Layer 4: flights, which are priced separately.
  • Layer 5: on-ground spending in lari.

Your formula is simple: package + entry + tax and card charges + flights + on-ground cash.

All rupee figures here use the National Bank of Georgia’s rate for 1 October 2026.

That rate is 100 INR = 2.7181 GEL, so GEL 1 is about ₹36.79.

US$1 is about ₹95.83.

Rates move daily, so redo the conversion on your booking day.

Entry Costs: E-Visa And Insurance

What The E-Visa Really Costs In Rupees

Georgia does not give Indian passport holders a visa on arrival, so most travellers pay for an e-Visa.

The official e-Visa portal FAQ states the fee as “20 USD + 2% service fee”.

That is US$20.40, or about ₹1,955.

Wego (updated 29 April 2026) and Tata AIG both report a separate US$15 DuVerify identity check.

The official FAQ text we opened does not list it, so confirm it on the portal when you apply.

With it, the total is about US$35.40, or ₹3,392.

Your Indian card may add about ₹140 in charges on top.

The portal says the fee is not refundable if you are denied, never use the visa or make an error.

It accepts only Visa and Mastercard, so a RuPay-only card will not work.

Email verification is valid for 1 hour, and payment must be made within 5 hours of the notification.

Wego says the DuVerify step must be done within 24 hours.

The portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Applying early costs nothing, and a rushed or mistyped application can cost you the fee twice.

What Mandatory Insurance Costs

Since 1 January 2026, every tourist entering Georgia needs health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000.

Visit Georgia’s explainer on the rule says it must cover your whole stay, arrival to departure.

GEL 30,000 is about ₹11.04 lakh.

The rule has no exemption for visa-free entrants.

The policy must show seven details:

  • the contract parties
  • the covered territory
  • the subject of insurance
  • the start and end dates
  • the insured risks
  • the coverage limits
  • the premium amount and payment terms
Insurance Price Check

What The GEL 30,000 Level Can Cost

What Georgia’s Own Data Says About Spending

The 2025 Average Visit In Lari And Rupees

Geostat’s 2025 inbound tourism release, published 30 January 2026, gives an average spend of GEL 2,187.3 per visit.

That is about ₹80,500.

The average stay was 5.6 nights.

Treat this as a benchmark, not an Indian-tourist budget.

It covers all nationalities and includes same-day visitors.

Do not divide it by nights to get a daily budget.

Where The Money Goes
Category Share of spend
Shopping 28.4%
Accommodation 25.4%
Foods and drinks 23.3%
Leisure and cultural activities 13.0%
Local transport 8.7%
Other 1.2%

Accommodation, food and local transport add up to 57.4%.

A package that prepays those three moves most of that share out of your pocket.

The open lines are shopping, activities and extras, which make up 42.6% of that spending.

Those are the lines you control, so give them their own number.

What A Package Pre-Pays And What It Does Not

What A Package Pre-Pays And What It Does Not

A Roaming Legs Georgia package includes 5-star hotels, a private vehicle for the full trip and full-board meals.

It also includes a private airport transfer.

Visa assistance is free, and you pay only the government fee.

For current starting prices by trip length, read Georgia trip cost from India.

To see the packages themselves, start with Georgia tour packages from India.

Entry costs, flights, TCS, card charges and your own spending money are not part of the package price.

Ask whether your quote includes flights, because that single line can change your total by a large margin.

Twin-Sharing And The Single Supplement

Per-person prices assume twin-sharing.

A solo traveller pays a single-traveller supplement.

Ask for that amount in writing before you compare quotes.

Optional Costs

Optional Extras Priced Separately

Paragliding in Gudauri, cable car tickets and a private wine tasting in Kakheti are optional extras.

  • Paragliding in Gudauri
  • Cable car tickets
  • Private wine tasting

Ask for each price in writing, so you can compare quotes on the same basis. Package prices can also vary with your travel month, so check the best time to visit Georgia before you fix dates.

Tax And Card Charges Indian Travellers Forget

The 2% TCS On Overseas Packages

KPMG’s Union Budget 2026-27 note on tourism confirms tax collected at source on overseas tour packages is cut to 2%.

ClearTax dates the change to 1 April 2026.

It replaces the earlier 5% up to ₹10 lakh and 20% above that.

The seller collects it when you pay.

On ₹1,50,000 of package value, that is ₹3,000.

TCS is not a fee.

It is a tax credit that you adjust against your income tax when you file your return.

It still locks up your cash until then, so ask for it as a separate line on your invoice.

Card Markups, Cash Advances And GST

Every card payment in lari carries a foreign-currency charge.

SBI Card’s terms, current as of 25 September 2026, list 3.5% on most cards.

Some cards, including Aurum and Elite, carry 1.99%.

GST at 18% applies on top of fees, so 3.5% becomes about 4.1%.

Spend ₹30,000 in lari on a standard card and you pay about ₹1,239 in charges.

A cash advance at a foreign ATM costs 2.5%, with a minimum of ₹500, and finance charges start on the withdrawal date.

A ₹10,000 withdrawal therefore costs ₹500, which is 5%, before GST.

Other banks differ, so read your own card’s terms before you travel.

Flights: The Line Without A Fixed Number

We found no trusted published fare for India to Tbilisi, and aggregator fares swing too widely to quote.

IndiGo cancelled its Tbilisi flights until 28 March 2026, citing Iran-related airspace developments, according to NewsDrum in February 2026.

We found no confirmed restart, so check the airline’s own booking page for your dates.

If no nonstop is running, you will pay for a connection, and that changes both the fare and your arrival time.

Your arrival date sets your insurance start date and your first hotel night.

Our guide to how to reach Georgia from India covers current routes.

Budget Worksheet

Your Budget Worksheet, Step By Step

  1. Get a written package quote, and ask what it includes and excludes.
  2. Add the e-Visa at about ₹3,392, plus about ₹140 in card charges.

Mistakes That Cost Money

  • Missing the 1-hour email window or the 5-hour payment window on the e-Visa.
  • Assuming the e-Visa fee is refundable after a refusal or an error.
  • Paying with a RuPay-only card.
  • Buying insurance that lacks any of the seven mandatory details.
  • Withdrawing cash on a credit card at a Georgian ATM.
  • Forgetting TCS when you plan your cash flow.
  • Comparing quotes without checking whether flights, extras and the single supplement are included.

Georgia Trip Cost Breakdown from India: Every Line Item In Rupees (2026)

Is Travel Insurance Mandatory for Indians Visiting Georgia in 2026?

Georgia’s insurance rule publishes no penalty, and that is exactly what makes it risky.

Since 1 January 2026, every tourist needs health and accident cover of at least GEL 30,000, about ₹11 lakh at today’s official rate.

The UK government says you may be asked for proof at airline check-in, before you reach Tbilisi.

Without it, you “may encounter difficulties entering”.

The official exemption list names no children and no visa-free entrants.

Your certificate must also show seven printed details.

This roadmap shows what to buy, what to check and what to carry, current as of 1 October 2026.

The Rule In Force Since 1 January 2026

What The Official Notice Says

Visit Georgia’s explainer, published 14 January 2026, gives the rule.

Tourists entering Georgia need insurance of “no less than 30,000 GEL”.

Cover must run for the entire stay, from arrival to departure.

The insurer can be Georgian or foreign.

The policy must be available in Georgian or English.

It can be on paper or on screen.

The legal base is Article 12 of the Law of Georgia on Tourism, which says tourists must have health and accident insurance.

Article 14 also obliges tourism traders to give tourists information about the terms of the mandatory insurance before they contract.

The only fine in the English text of the Law we opened is GEL 500, and it applies to tourism businesses operating without registration, not to tourists.

That article was first due on 1 June 2024.

Parliament suspended it until 1 January 2026, and Interpressnews reported the reason as the private sector not being ready.

The Georgian Embassy in Norway’s notice of 30 December 2025 repeats the same terms.

Who Is Exempt And Who Is Not

The official exemptions are narrow:

  • holders of diplomatic or special visas
  • holders of diplomatic, official, service or special passports
  • accredited embassy and consulate staff and their families
  • people entering under international treaties
  • international road freight and passenger drivers

An Indian tourist is on none of these lists.

Visa-free entry through a valid US, UK or Schengen visa does not appear as an exemption.

Children do not appear either.

Travel Insurance Check

What GEL 30,000 Means In Rupees

The National Bank of Georgia's official rate on 1 October 2026 is 100 INR = 2.7181 GEL. That puts GEL 30,000 at about ₹11.04 lakh.

  • Check your medical limit
  • Convert on purchase day
  • Keep a margin above the line
What Your Policy Certificate Must Show

What Your Policy Certificate Must Show

The certificate must carry these seven details:

  • the parties to the contract
  • the covered territory
  • the subject of insurance
  • the start and end dates of cover
  • the insured risks
  • the coverage limits
  • the premium amount, payment place and payment terms

The official e-Visa portal FAQ adds two conditions.

Cover must pay “any cost related to condition of his health and death”.

It must also be “valid on whole territory of Georgia”.

The same FAQ lists insurance among five documents you bring to the border.

The other four are your passport, proof of travel purpose, proof of accommodation and proof of funds.

Check each item against your certificate before you pay.

Where And When Your Proof Gets Checked

At Airline Check-In In India

The UK FCDO entry page, updated 15 September 2026, says you may be asked for evidence at airline check-in or at Georgian immigration.

It says travellers without proof may encounter difficulties entering.

So your first check may happen at your Indian departure airport.

A certificate buried in an email attachment is a risk at that counter.

At Tbilisi Immigration

The portal FAQ says insurance is among the documents you present at the border.

Your insurance dates must match your flight dates and your hotel dates.

Mismatched papers invite questions.

What We Could Not Confirm

  • Penalty: The official notices publish none, and Georgia Today reported in December 2025 that no fixed fine had been announced.
  • Fine claims: Some sites quote a GEL 300 fine, but they cite only other secondary sites, so we dropped it.
  • Enforcement strictness: We found no official statement on how strictly officers check.
  • Approved insurers: We found no official list of approved insurers, Indian or otherwise.
  • Border purchase: Georgian insurers say you can buy on the spot if asked, but no official source confirms it, so do not plan around it.
  • Portal upload: We could not confirm whether the e-Visa application asks for the policy.

Will Your Indian Policy Qualify?

The rule accepts a foreign insurer.

It does not name any Indian insurer, and it does not certify any policy in advance.

So the test is your certificate, not your insurer’s brand.

The Minimum Medical Limit

Georgia Today and Travel Trade Journal report two figures, GEL 5,000 for emergency outpatient care and GEL 30,000 for hospital treatment.

The official notices state only the GEL 30,000 minimum.

Buy a medical-expense limit of at least GEL 30,000, which satisfies both versions.

Family Floaters And Shared Limits

The rule is written per tourist.

We found no official statement allowing one shared limit across a family.

A floater policy shares one sum insured between members.

Ask the insurer to confirm in writing that each traveller carries at least GEL 30,000 of medical cover, or buy individual policies.

Dates, Territory And Late Landings

Cover must run from arrival to departure.

If your flight lands after midnight, your cover must start on the landing date.

If your return date shifts, your cover must still reach the day you leave.

Your policy must also list Georgia as covered territory.

Our guide to how to reach Georgia from India covers route timing.

Georgian Platforms If Your Certificate Falls Short

The e-Visa portal links two Georgian platforms, eInsurance.ge and eCover.ge.

Use them if your Indian certificate lacks any of the seven details.

Read the certificate again after purchase.

Why The Legal Minimum Is Not Enough For Kazbegi And Gudauri

Why The Legal Minimum Is Not Enough For Kazbegi And Gudauri

Hospitals Ask For Payment First

Canada’s Georgia travel advice says medical care can be expensive and immediate up-front cash payment is often required.

It also says rural areas have shortages of medical supplies and personnel.

The UK FCDO’s health advice says the UK has no reciprocal healthcare agreement with Georgia and that treatment must be paid for directly.

That means you pay at the hospital first and claim from your insurer afterwards.

Keep every itemised bill, receipt and doctor’s report, because the claim depends on them.

Carry an international-enabled card with enough headroom to cover an up-front payment.

Save 112 for an ambulance, as the UK FCDO lists it, and save your insurer’s assistance number from the certificate.

GEL 30,000 is a legal floor, not a plan.

Adventure Cover Check

Altitude, Adventure And Evacuation

The UK FCDO lists altitude sickness as a risk at ski resorts and around Kazbegi. Canada advises cover for medical evacuation, hospital stays and helicopter rescue for adventure activities.

  • Medical evacuation is covered.
  • Hospital stays are covered.
  • Your planned activity, such as skiing or paragliding, is not excluded.

The official Georgian notices set no sport exclusions. Your insurer's policy wording does, so get written confirmation before you buy.

Insurance Checklist

Your Insurance Planning Order

  1. Fix your dates and note your landing date and departure date.
  2. List every traveller, including children.
  3. Set a medical limit of at least GEL 30,000 per person, plus a margin.
  4. Read the policy wording for Georgia coverage, evacuation and activity exclusions.
  5. Buy the policy and open the certificate.
  6. Tick off the seven mandatory details and the English-language requirement.
  7. Switch to eInsurance.ge or eCover.ge if any detail is missing.
  8. Save a PDF on your phone and carry a printout in your cabin bag.
  9. Save 112 and your insurer's assistance number in your phone.
  10. Recheck your cover dates after any flight change.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Travel Insurance Mandatory For Indians Visiting Georgia?

Yes.

Georgia has required it from every tourist since 1 January 2026.

Buy it before you fly.

Does The Rule Apply If I Enter Visa-Free On A US, UK Or Schengen Visa?

Yes.

The official notice says all tourists, and its exemption list does not include visa-free entrants.

Carry the certificate on both routes.

Do Children And Infants Need Their Own Policy?

Treat them as needing one.

The rule says all tourists, and the exemption list names no children.

We found no official ruling on children, so give each child a certificate with the full limit.

Can I Be Refused Entry Without Insurance?

The UK government says you may encounter difficulties entering.

Georgian notices publish no consequence, so we cannot say how strictly it is applied.

Do not fly without the certificate.

Is There A Fine For Travelling Without Insurance?

We found no official fine.

Georgia Today reported in December 2025 that none had been announced.

Georgia Visa Processing Time For Indians: The Real Timeline (2026)

How Long Does a Georgia e-Visa Take for Indians in 2026?

Georgia’s official e-Visa FAQ says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

That is a floor, and one private visa site quotes it as a ceiling.

Miss the 1-hour email verification window, and your application is cancelled.

Miss the 5-hour payment window, and it is cancelled again.

Make an error after you submit, and you cannot edit it, so you start a new application and the 5-day floor starts again.

This roadmap shows how to time your application around those rules, current as of 1 October 2026.

How Long Does A Georgia Visa Take?

The official answer is not less than 5 working days.

No official maximum is published.

Plan for 5 working days as the earliest possible decision, not the usual one.

What The Official Portal Says

The official e-Visa FAQ says it takes not less than 5 working days to decide on a visa application.

The decision comes by email, to the address you used on the application.

The FAQ lists no paid fast-track option.

We found no official statement on what share of applications are decided at 5 days.

Why Other Sites Quote Different Numbers

One private “.info” site says “up to 5 business days”.

That reverses the official meaning.

Wego’s April 2026 guide for Indian travellers says 5 to 7 working days.

Wego is a reputed travel publisher, but it is not the issuing authority.

Use 5 working days as your earliest date and 7 as your planning figure.

Treat anything shorter than 5 as unsupported.

What Starts And Stops The Clock

What Starts And Stops The Clock

Your decision timeline has three timers before it and one calendar question inside it.

The 1-Hour Email Window

After you submit, you get a verification email.

The official FAQ says it is valid for 1 hour.

Verify after that, and the application is cancelled.

Open your inbox before you click submit, not after.

If the email does not arrive, check spam and use the resend option.

If it still does not arrive, the FAQ says to submit a new application with a different email address.

The 5-Hour Payment Window

After verification, you get a payment notification by email.

The state fee must be paid within 5 hours of that notification.

Pay late, and the application is cancelled.

Only Visa or Mastercard credit or debit cards are accepted.

A RuPay-only card will not work.

The card does not need to be in the applicant’s name.

One person can pay for a whole family from one card.

The DuVerify 24-Hour Step

Wego reports a separate DuVerify identity check with a US$15 fee.

Wego says it must be completed within 24 hours, or you restart.

We could not confirm this step on an official page we could open.

If you receive a DuVerify link, treat the 24 hours as a hard deadline until you read the instructions in that email.

Weekends And Georgian Public Holidays

The official wording is “working days”.

It does not say whether Georgian public holidays pause the count.

We could not confirm either way.

The dates that matter next are 14 October 2026 (Wednesday), 23 November 2026 (Monday), 1 and 2 January 2027, 7 January 2027 and 19 January 2027.

If a holiday falls inside your window, assume it adds a day.

Plan the extra day instead of testing the rule.

A late-December application for a January trip is the tightest case.

It meets 1 January, 2 January and 7 January inside the same fortnight.

The two that fall on weekdays can add up to two working days to your wait.

What A Restart Costs You

The FAQ says you cannot amend a submitted application.

You must create a new one.

The fee is US$20 plus 2%.

It is not refundable if you are denied.

It is not refundable if you never use the visa.

It is not refundable if you made an error on the application.

Every restart costs three things:

  • the fee again
  • a new 5-working-day floor
  • one more set of email and payment windows

On Wego’s figures, the DuVerify charge brings one attempt to about US35.40(US20.40 plus US$15).

Two attempts cost about US$70.80.

Each child needs a separate application, even on a parent’s passport.

A family of four that restarts once pays for eight applications.

When To Apply A Timeline Built Backwards From Your Flight
E-Visa Timeline

Apply Backwards From Your Flight

  • Plan around three weeks before departure, allowing one full restart before you fly.
  • Do not apply too early; validity and stay dates are different, so read the approved e-Visa dates.
  • Hold non-refundable bookings until approval, then print the e-Visa and match it to your itinerary.

How To Check Status And Who To Contact

Only the applicant or a legal representative can get information on an application.

The FAQ calls visa records confidential.

A relative or travel agent cannot chase your status for you.

The support desk is contact@evisa.gov.ge.

It answers Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 in Georgia (UTC+4).

That is 10:30 to 19:30 IST.

An email sent Friday evening in India waits until Monday.

If you lost your e-Visa email, the same desk is the route.

If your decision has not arrived, there is no published date after which an application counts as late.

We found no official escalation threshold.

Write to the support desk only after your own 7-working-day planning figure has passed, and quote the email address you applied with.

Look-Alike Sites And Fee Traps

Several results for this search are private sites on “.info” domains, not the government portal.

The government portal is evisa.gov.ge.

Check that the address bar reads evisa.gov.ge before you enter any passport details.

The Embassy of Georgia in India says the e-Visa needs no appointment and no embassy visit.

The official fee is US$20 plus 2%.

Add Wego’s reported US15DuVerifychargeandyoureachaboutUS35.40.

If a site quotes a much higher total, ask what the extra charge is for.

The official FAQ lists no agent fee.

For a full cost picture beyond the visa, see the Georgia trip cost from India.

Mistakes That Cost Money And Time

  • Opening the email after the 1-hour window has closed.
  • Paying with a RuPay card.
  • Waiting for a “typo fix” that the system does not allow.
  • Applying for the family on one application when each traveller needs a separate one.
  • Booking non-refundable flights before the approval email.
  • Applying more than four months ahead and missing the validity window.
  • Applying on a Friday evening and waiting for the support desk until Monday.
  • Treating “5 working days” as a guarantee.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is It "Not Less Than 5" Or "Up To 5" Working Days?

It is not less than 5.

The official FAQ uses that wording, and it sets a minimum.

Use 5 working days as your earliest date and plan for 7.

Can I Pay To Speed Up My Georgia e-Visa?

We found no paid fast-track option in the official FAQ.

The portal lists one fee: US$20 plus 2%.

Be cautious of any site that sells a faster decision.

Do Weekends And Georgian Holidays Count?

Weekends do not count, because the FAQ says working days.

We could not confirm whether public holidays pause the count.

Add a day if 14 October, 23 November or a January holiday falls in your window.

How Long Is My e-Visa Valid After Approval?

It depends on your passport country.

Wego reports 30 days within a 120-day window for Indians.

Read the exact first and last dates on your approved e-Visa.

I Made A Typo. Can I Correct It?

No.

The FAQ says you must create a new application.

Expect another fee and another 5-working-day floor.

What If I Miss The 1-Hour Or 5-Hour Window?

The application is cancelled.

Start a new one.

Have your card and inbox ready before you submit.

Does DuVerify Delay My Approval?

Wego reports a separate identity check of US$15, due within 24 hours.

We could not confirm this on an official page.

Complete it as soon as the link arrives.

Do I Get A Refund If The Visa Is Denied Or Arrives Too Late?

No.

The FAQ says the fee is not refundable if you are denied, never use the visa, or made an error.

Hold non-refundable bookings until you are approved.

Can A Relative Or Agent Check My Status?

No.

The FAQ says only the applicant or a legal representative can get information.

Use the support desk, 10:30 to 19:30 IST on weekdays.

Does Each Child Need A Separate Application?

Yes.

The FAQ says every traveller needs a separate e-Visa, regardless of age, including a child on a parent's passport.

Budget the fee once per person and submit them together.

Will A RuPay Card Work For Payment?

No.

The FAQ says payment is by Visa or Mastercard.

The card does not need to be in the applicant's name, so a family member's Visa or Mastercard works.

Should I Book Flights Before My e-Visa Is Approved?

Wait for approval if you can.

The fee is non-refundable and approval is not guaranteed.

If you must book early, choose a changeable fare and check the change fee first.

Does Applying Early Cost Me Days In Georgia?

It can cost you the chance to use the visa at all.

The FAQ says validity sets the first and last dates you can use the visa, and stay is counted within it.

A visa approved too early can expire before your trip begins.

Apply so your whole trip sits inside the printed dates.

Visa Exemption

Check Before You Skip E-Visa

  • Some valid foreign visas may remove Georgia e-Visa processing time.
  • Your foreign visa must be valid on your Georgia entry date.
  • Confirm eligibility with the Embassy of Georgia in India before skipping the application.
Georgia E-Visa For Indians: How To Apply, Fees And Deadlines (2026)

How Indians Can Apply for a Georgia e-Visa in 2026

Georgia’s e-Visa portal gives you 1 hour to verify your email.

Miss it, and the application is cancelled.

Payment must follow within 5 hours of the notification.

The fee is US$20 plus a 2% service fee, and the portal says it is non-refundable “in all circumstances”, including a denial.

Fix a typo after submitting, and you pay for a whole new application.

Wego reports a third clock, a US$15 identity check to finish within 24 hours.

This roadmap shows how to apply once and apply right, current as of 1 October 2026

Do You Need The E-Visa Or Can You Enter Visa-Free?

Most Indian passport holders apply for the e-Visa.

Georgia does not give Indians a visa on arrival.

A visa-free route exists for travellers who hold a currently valid foreign visa or residence permit.

BusinessToday reported in May 2025 that this covers the US, UK, Schengen Area and Japan.

Outlook Traveller attributed the announcement to the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

Wego’s 2026 guide lists about 15 countries instead.

We could not open an official list, so treat any list as unconfirmed.

Check your exact visa or permit with the embassy before you skip the e-Visa.

An expired visa does not count.

E-Visa Steps

Apply For Georgia E-Visa

  • Use evisa.gov.ge, enter passport details, choose travel dates, and upload your photo and passport pages.
  • Verify email within 1 hour, pay by Visa or Mastercard within 5 hours, and complete DuVerify if required.
  • Each traveller needs a separate application; download and print the approved e-Visa.

What The Georgia E-Visa Really Costs

The Fee Stack And What Is Not Refundable

The official e-Visa FAQ states the cost as 20 USD plus a 2% service fee.

On the portal’s figures, that is US$20.40.

Wego reports a separate DuVerify charge of US$15.

We could not confirm whether the 2% applies to that charge, so budget about US$35 per traveller.

A family of four should plan for about US$140.

The portal says the fee is not refundable if you are denied.

It also says the applicant is responsible for any mistake in the application.

Paying With An Indian Card

Only Visa and Mastercard are accepted.

A RuPay-only card will not work.

The card does not have to be in your name.

One person can pay for the whole family, but must still pay each application inside its own 5-hour window.

Every Trip Needs A New Application

The portal states there is no renewal.

You go through the whole application process every time you travel.

Do not assume last year’s approval, or last year’s fee, carries over.

How To Read The Validity Line On Your Visa

The portal says stay length varies by passport country.

It gives two examples of how the line is written.

“120/30, multiple entry” allows stays of 30 days within a 120-day validity.

“180/90, multiple entries” allows stays of 90 days within a 180-day period.

Wego reports that Indians receive 30 days within 120 days from the date of approval.

IndiGo’s undated page says 90 days within 180.

We could not confirm either on a primary page for Indian passports.

Count your trip against the line printed on your approved e-Visa, not against any guide.

A trip that starts late in the validity window can run out of days before it ends.

Photo And Passport Rules That Trigger A Fresh Application

Photo And Passport Rules That Trigger A Fresh Application

Because corrections need a new application, these rules decide whether you pay twice.

Photo Rules

The photo must be taken within 6 months of applying.

Your head, from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin, must fill 50% to 70% of the image height.

You must face the camera, so profile shots are refused.

Phone photos, vending-machine photos and photos copied from other documents are not accepted.

A child must be the only person in the photo.

Passport Rules

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the validity period of the visa you request.

That is the visa’s validity, not your return-flight date.

It needs at least 2 free pages.

It must be undamaged, with no unofficial remarks.

It must have been issued within the previous 10 years.

Documents The Portal Names And Documents Only Some Sources Mention

Documents The Portal Names And Documents Only Some Sources Mention

The official FAQ lists five documents for the border:

  • your passport
  • proof of the purpose of travel
  • proof of accommodation
  • travel and health insurance
  • proof of sufficient financial means

It names no minimum bank balance.

Any figure you see elsewhere is not a Georgian rule.

Outlook Traveller reported in May 2025 that Indian applicants must submit Aadhaar, a PAN card, three years of income tax returns and six months of bank statements.

It attributed this to the Georgian National Tourism Administration.

The official FAQ lists none of these.

We could not confirm either position on a primary page.

If the portal asks you for a document at application, upload it.

If it does not, carry your funds proof to the border.

After You Apply: Decisions, Status And Support

The portal says it needs “not less then 5 working days” to decide.

That is a minimum, not a promise.

Wego advises applying at least 2 weeks before departure in June to August.

Do not buy non-refundable tickets before the decision.

Support runs Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 Georgia time.

That is 10:30 to 19:30 in India.

Write to contact@evisa.gov.ge or call (995 32) 2945050.

How To Spot The Official Portal

The government portal is evisa.gov.ge.

Search results for this topic include many private “.info” sites that look like official portals.

BusinessToday reported that Georgian authorities urged Indian travellers to use only official government portals.

Check the web address before you enter your passport details or card number.

Border Check

E-Visa Approval Is Not Final Entry

  • Border officers can still check your purpose, answers, hotel dates, flight dates, and funds proof.
  • Carry insurance of at least GEL 30,000 for the full stay, valid across Georgia.
  • Print your e-Visa and keep every proof in your cabin bag.
E-Visa Planning

Plan Before You Apply

  • Check passport rules, photo age, foreign visa exemption, dates, and hotel bookings first.
  • Buy insurance for the full stay, keep email open, and have a Visa or Mastercard ready.
  • Apply within each time window, print your e-Visa and proofs, then book non-refundable flights.

Mistakes That Cost Money On The E-Visa

  • Applying with a phone photo.
  • Using a RuPay-only card.
  • Letting the 1-hour email window or the 5-hour payment window lapse.
  • Correcting a typo instead of checking it first.
  • Entering your name differently from your passport.
  • Applying for a child under a parent’s application.
  • Paying on a look-alike site.

E-Visa Support

Apply Once, Apply Right

The e-Visa is a timed form. After booking, our Georgia specialist gives you a checklist and reviews your papers at no extra charge, while you submit your own application and identity check.

"Georgia Visa Documents For Indians: Complete 2026 Checklist "

Georgia Visa Documents Required for Indians in 2026

An approved Georgia e-Visa becomes invalid if the information behind it is wrong.

The official application page says your details are checked at the border, and incorrect information makes your e-Visa invalid.

The portal has eight upload fields, and the border officer can ask for five documents, including insurance of at least GEL 30,000 with seven details printed on it.

A mobile-phone photo is not acceptable, and a typo means a new application with no refund.

Your verification email is valid for 1 hour, and payment is due within 5 hours.

This roadmap lists every Georgia visa document an Indian traveller needs, in the order you need it, current as of 1 October 2026.

Do You Need Georgia Visa Documents At All?

Yes, unless a valid foreign visa or residence permit exempts you.

Which Foreign Visas Let You Skip The E-Visa

Georgia’s legislative gazette publishes the list of 50 countries whose visa or residence permit holders may enter without a Georgian visa.

The stay is 90 days in any 180-day period.

The decree applies to any foreign national, so your Indian passport does not disqualify you.

The visa or permit must be valid on the day you enter Georgia.

An expired visa does not count.

The list was last amended on 17 April 2025.

It includes the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, the UAE, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and New Zealand.

Every Schengen state is listed individually.

Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Hong Kong are not on it, so a visa from any of them does not exempt you.

For the wider eligibility picture, see our guide to Georgia visa for Indians.

What You Still Carry Without An E-Visa

Georgia’s insurance rule applies to every tourist, including visa-free entrants.

We found no official list of border documents for visa-free entrants.

Carry the same five documents listed later in this roadmap.

Documents You Upload On The E-Visa Portal

The official e-Visa FAQ says you need a passport, a photo and a Visa or Mastercard to apply.

The official application page lists eight upload fields.

You must apply from outside Georgia.

The form also asks for your purpose of visit, a declaration about your insurance and whether you hold a foreign visa or residence permit.

Answer each one to match the papers you will carry.

Passport Rules That Reject Applications

Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months after the validity period of the Georgian visa you request.

That is counted from the visa’s validity, not from your return flight.

It needs at least 2 free pages.

It must have been issued within the previous 10 years.

It cannot be damaged or carry unofficial remarks.

Enter your middle name right after your given name in the “Given Name” field, with a space between them.

If you have a single name, enter it in the surname field.

All documentation must be in English or Georgian, so a document in any other language falls outside the rule.

Photo Rules That Reject Applications

Your photo must be taken within 6 months of submitting your application.

Your head must fill 50% to 70% of the image height.

You must face the camera directly, and profile shots are rejected.

The portal says snapshots, magazine photos, low-resolution vending machine photos, mobile device photos and full-length photos are not acceptable.

Photos copied or scanned from official documents are also rejected.

Wego reports a digital size of 472 × 591 pixels, which the official pages we opened do not state.

The Eight Upload Fields One By One

The application page lists these fields:

  • Photo.
  • Passport scan, in a single PDF.
  • Supporting document copy.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Round-trip flight ticket.
  • Travel insurance.
  • Proof of financial means.
  • Proof of travel purpose.

Wego says the passport PDF should show both sides.

The FAQ says to leave the supporting-document section blank if you have nothing to add.

The FAQ lists only a passport, photo and card as needs for applying, while the application page shows eight fields.

We could not confirm whether the portal accepts the other fields empty.

Keep all eight ready before you start.

Documents The Border Officer Can Ask For

Documents The Border Officer Can Ask For

The official FAQ names five documents you present at the Georgian border:

  • Your passport.
  • A document proving the purpose of your travel.
  • Proof of accommodation.
  • Travel and health insurance.
  • Proof of sufficient funds.

The portal also tells you to print your e-Visa and bring it along.

Remember that information you entered is checked against these papers.

Accommodation Proof

The portal accepts a hotel booking or a rental agreement covering your entire period of stay.

A property document also qualifies.

A booking for only your first night does not cover the stay.

If you move between Tbilisi, Kazbegi, Kakheti and Batumi, every night needs a booking.

Proof Of Funds

The official FAQ accepts four types of proof:

  • A bank statement for the last 3 months.
  • An employer reference.
  • A real-estate document.
  • A sponsor letter stating the costs covered.

The portal names no minimum amount.

Any figure quoted elsewhere is not a Georgian rule.

Proof Of Travel Purpose And Return Ticket

The portal does not define an acceptable purpose document in the pages we opened.

Prepare an itinerary whose dates, cities and hotels match your bookings.

Your return date also sets your stay length.

The portal gives 120/30 and 180/90 as example validity patterns, and Wego reports 30 days within a 120-day window for Indians.

Read the days printed on your approved e-Visa and match your return flight to them.

Our guide to how to reach Georgia from India covers the routes.

Insurance Details Your Certificate Must Show

Visit Georgia’s insurance explainer gives the rule in force since 1 January 2026.

The cover must be at least GEL 30,000.

It must run from arrival to departure.

It can come from a Georgian or foreign insurer, on paper or on screen.

The policy must be available in Georgian or English.

It must show seven details:

  • The parties to the contract.
  • The covered territory.
  • The subject of the insurance.
  • The start and end dates.
  • The insured risks.
  • The coverage limits.
  • The premium amount and payment terms.

The official FAQ adds that cover must include health-related costs and death, and be valid across the whole territory of Georgia.

The explainer publishes no border procedure or penalty, so we cannot say how strictly it is checked.

Check every item on the certificate before you pay.

Entry Interview

Make Your Answers Match Your Papers

  • Border guards may refuse entry if answers are not convincing or the travel purpose seems false.
  • No current published refusal figures for Indian travellers were found.
  • Your hotel names, dates, route, and funds must match what you submitted.
Family Paperwork

Keep One Folder Per Traveller

  • Every traveller needs a separate e-Visa, travel document, application, fee, and insurance.
  • One person can pay for the family, but any detail change needs a new application.
  • Keep each traveller’s passport, e-Visa, insurance, and hotel proof together.
Deadlines That Cancel Your Application

Deadlines That Cancel Your Application

The official pages give these windows:

  • Email verification: 1 hour from receiving the email.
  • Payment: 5 hours after the notification email.
  • DuVerify identity step: US$15, due within 24 hours.

The visa fee is US$20 plus a 2% service fee.

That is US20.40,sowithDuVerifythetotalisaboutUS35.40.

The fee is not refundable.

A missed email or payment window cancels the application.

The portal does not say what happens if you miss the DuVerify window.

Treat it as a hard deadline.

The support desk is contact@evisa.gov.ge, open Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 UTC+4.

That is 10:30 to 19:30 in India.

Document Order

Prepare Your Georgia Papers

  • Check passport validity, photo rules, exemption eligibility, dates, and hotel proof first.
  • Prepare insurance, funds proof, itinerary, return ticket, and a single passport PDF.
  • Apply with email and card ready, then print the e-Visa and carry all papers in cabin baggage.

Mistakes That Cost Indian Travellers Money

  • Uploading a phone, vending-machine or scanned-document photo.
  • Typing one passport digit wrong, which means a new application and a lost fee.
  • Putting a middle name in the surname field.
  • Buying insurance that lacks one of the seven details.
  • Starting insurance on a later date than your landing date.
  • Booking only the first hotel night.
  • Relying on an expired visa or one from a country not on the list.
  • Using a card that is not Visa or Mastercard, since the portal names only those two.
  • Submitting documents in a language other than English or Georgian.
  • Missing the 1-hour email window.
  • Buying non-refundable flights before the decision, when the portal says a decision takes not less than 5 working days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I Upload A Photo Scanned From My Passport Or Aadhaar?

No.

The portal rejects photos copied or scanned from official documents.

Get a fresh photo taken within 6 months.

Do I Need Hotel And Flight Bookings Before I Apply?

The official FAQ lists only a passport, photo and card for applying.

The application page shows upload fields for accommodation and a round-trip ticket.

We could not confirm whether those fields can stay empty, so keep both ready.

How Much Bank Balance Should I Show?

The portal states no amount.

It accepts a 3-month bank statement, an employer reference, a real-estate document or a sponsor letter.

Choose the proof that matches your actual finances.

Does My Indian Travel Insurance Policy Qualify?

Only if it covers Georgia and shows at least GEL 30,000.

It must run from arrival to departure and carry all seven details.

If any item is missing, ask your insurer to reissue it before you apply.

Does My Child Need A Separate E-Visa And Passport?

Yes.

The official FAQ requires a separate e-Visa and a separate travel document for each traveller.

Do not apply for a child on a parent's application.

Can One Person Pay For The Whole Family?

Yes.

The portal says card ownership is not required.

Each traveller still needs a separate application.

I Typed The Wrong Passport Number. Can I Edit It?

No.

You must create a new e-Visa application.

The fee is not refundable, so check every digit before you pay.

Does An Expired Schengen Or UK Visa Count?

No.

The visa or permit must be valid on the day you enter Georgia.

If it has lapsed, apply for the e-Visa.

Do I Need Insurance If I Enter Visa-Free?

Yes.

Georgia's insurance rule covers all tourists entering the country.

Buy a policy showing GEL 30,000 and the seven details.

Does My Passport Need Six Months Of Validity?

No.

The portal requires 3 months beyond the validity period of the visa you request.

Check the visa validity on the portal, not only your travel dates.

Can I Still Be Refused With An Approved E-Visa?

Yes.

Georgia's Interior Ministry said in 2017 that guards can refuse entry on unconvincing answers or a false travel purpose.

Carry papers that match your application.

Who Do I Contact From India If The Portal Fails?

Email contact@evisa.gov.ge, which is staffed Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00 UTC+4.

What To Pack For Georgia Rules, Weather And Customs Checklist

What to Pack for Georgia From India in 2026

Georgia’s Revenue Service names alprazolam, tramadol and codeine on its prohibited-medicines list.

Carrying a controlled medicine is allowed only as a 31-day supply, backed by three documents translated into English and approved by an authorised agency.

Use a power bank on your flight, and you break DGCA’s January 2026 advisory.

Kazbegi’s average January night is −10.9°C, and Tbilisi’s weather will not warn you about it.

Your duty-free limit on wine, spirits and beer coming home is 2 litres.

This roadmap shows what to pack, what to keep in your cabin bag and what to leave behind, current as of 1 October 2026.

What Customs And Airlines Can Take Away

What Customs And Airlines Can Take Away

Indian Medicines In Georgia: The 10-Pack Rule And The 31-Day Rule

The Georgia Revenue Service publishes a brochure on prohibited and permitted medicines.

The brochure carries no date, so confirm it before you fly.

Up to 10 standard packs need no documents.

More than 10 packs needs medical documentation and a daily-dose calculation based on your visit length.

Controlled medicines follow a stricter route.

The brochure names codeine, tramadol, methadone, fentanyl and alprazolam, among others.

It allows a 31-day reserve of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances only with documents.

You need all three:

  • a copy of the prescription from the prescribing country
  • a copy of the physician’s certificate from the prescribing country
  • a document signed and sealed by an authorised person confirming validity, issued by the prescribing country

Each must be translated into English and approved by the authorised agency.

The brochure also says you may not pass these drugs to another person.

Illegal import of controlled substances is a criminal offence under Georgian law.

Read the brochure’s list against your own prescription before you pack a single strip.

If your drug is not listed and you are unsure, ask the Embassy of Georgia in New Delhi on +91 11 4949 6000.

How To Carry Medicines: Original Containers, English Prescription, Cabin Bag

Canada’s Georgia travel advice says to declare all medicines at customs.

It says to keep them in original containers in your carry-on bag.

It says to carry a copy of each prescription with an English translation.

It also says to bring a sufficient supply, since some common medications may be restricted.

A pill organiser is not an original container, so keep the labelled strips in the cabin bag as well.

Flight Battery Rule

Power Banks On Indian Flights

  • Do not use power banks in flight, including through seat power.
  • Carry power banks and spare lithium batteries in the bag kept with you at your seat.
  • Check your airline’s watt-hour limit and charge your phone fully before boarding.

Clothing By Temperature, Not By Season

A July afternoon in Tbilisi (about 32°C) and an August night in Kazbegi (about 12°C) sit 20°C apart.

Pack for the coldest place on your route, not the average.

For month-by-month detail, see our guide to the best time to visit Georgia.

Tbilisi And Kakheti: Heat And Evening Drops

Tbilisi’s average July maximum is about 32°C, according to climatestotravel’s figures.

Some summers run into the high 30s.

In January its average maximum is about 7°C.

Cotton layers handle summer days.

Add one warm layer for any month outside June to August.

Kazbegi And Gudauri: The Cold You Are Not Packing For

Stepantsminda, the town most travellers call Kazbegi, sits at about 1,730 metres.

amindia.ge’s 2015–2024 averages show January at −1.6°C by day and −10.9°C at night.

August is its warmest month, at 20.5°C by day and 12°C at night.

So even an August night needs a fleece or light down jacket.

For January, you need thermal base layers, an insulated jacket, gloves, a hat and waterproof boots.

Gudauri is higher than Tbilisi and colder, and the road between them can close in winter.

Our Kazbegi travel guide covers what the stop involves.

Rain Gear

When Rain Protection Matters

  • Pack rain gear for Kazbegi in May and Tbilisi around May to June.
  • Batumi is wettest from September to November, so a compact umbrella may not be enough.
  • Carry a waterproof jacket with a hood for heavy rain, flooding, or landslide-prone routes.

Church And Monastery Dress Rules

Georgia Spirit’s etiquette guide says women must cover their heads, cover their shoulders and wear a skirt or trousers below the knee.

It says men should wear trousers rather than shorts, remove hats indoors and cover their shoulders.

It adds that most active churches keep scarves at the entrance to borrow.

We could not confirm the rules for each individual church.

Pack one large scarf and one pair of long trousers per person.

Do not plan church days in shorts.

Chargers, Adapters And Power

WorldStandards lists Georgia as using Type C and Type F sockets at 230 V and 50 Hz.

That is the same voltage band as India.

The risk is the plug, not the voltage.

We could not confirm from an official source whether every Indian plug fits.

Check the pins on each charger before you leave.

Carry one universal adapter.

Health, Hiking And Money Items From Official Advice

Health, Hiking And Money Items From Official Advice

Canada’s advice recommends hepatitis A vaccination, and it says traveller’s diarrhoea is common.

It says to avoid tap water and use bottled or boiled water instead.

It recommends tick and insect protection.

Pack repellent and light long sleeves.

Wear closed-toe shoes for outdoor activities.

Trekking carries real risk, and the advice says never trek alone.

It also says to buy insurance that covers helicopter rescue and medical evacuation.

Credit cards may not work in rural areas.

Carry small denominations of cash for those stops.

We found no official figure for how much to carry.

Trails may lack clear markings and weather can shift rapidly, so carry a waterproof layer and a warm layer even on a short walk.

Pickpocketing occurs in crowded urban areas, according to the same advice.

Pack a zipped cross-body bag and leave expensive jewellery at home.

Papers That Stay In Your Cabin Bag

The Georgian border officer can ask for five documents.

They are your passport, proof of the purpose of travel, proof of accommodation, travel and health insurance, and proof of funds.

Funds can be shown with a 3-month bank statement, an employer reference, a property document or a signed sponsor letter, according to the official e-Visa FAQ.

Keep a printed copy of your e-Visa with them.

Pack all of it in the cabin bag, never in a checked bag.

The full process, including the insurance rule and photo rules, is in our guide to the Georgia visa for Indians.

Leave Space For The Wine

CBIC’s passenger guide gives Indian residents a duty-free allowance of ₹50,000.

It includes up to 2 litres of alcoholic liquor, wine or beer.

The allowance cannot be pooled with another passenger’s.

That means 2 litres per person, not 2 litres per family.

The guide carries no date, so check CBIC before you fly.

Packing Order

Pack For Georgia Step By Step

  • Check medicines first, including controlled medicine documents, translations, and approvals.
  • Pack for the coldest night, with layers, chargers, papers, medicines, and power banks in cabin baggage.
  • Add church clothing and leave space for wine within the 2-litre limit.

Packing Mistakes That Cost Money

  • Carrying alprazolam, tramadol or codeine without three translated documents.
  • Putting medicines in the checked bag or in unlabelled pill boxes.
  • Using a power bank during the flight.
  • Packing a down jacket only for winter, and skipping a warm layer in August.
  • Planning church visits in shorts and sleeveless tops.
  • Counting on pooling the 2-litre alcohol allowance across a family.
  • Relying on cards alone in rural areas.
  • Skipping rain gear for May, or for Batumi from September to November.

Georgia Visa Requirements For Indians Entry Rules That Decide Your Trip

Do Indians Need a Georgia Visa in 2026? Entry Rules Explained

Your Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand visa will not get you into Georgia without a Georgian visa.

Georgia’s visa-free list for holders of foreign visas names 50 countries, and those three are not on it.

Even a listed visa counts only if it is valid on the day you enter.

Apply for the e-Visa instead, and the fee is not refunded if you are denied or never use it.

An approved e-Visa still does not stop a border officer from refusing you.

This roadmap shows which entry route fits your passport and what Georgia checks, current as of 1 October 2026.

Georgia Entry Requirements For Indians At A Glance

Indian passport holders need one of two things to enter Georgia.

Either a valid visa or residence permit from a listed country, or a Georgian e-Visa.

We found no visa-on-arrival provision for Indians.

IndiGo’s visa page also says Indians are not exempt from visa requirements.

Visa-Free Entry With A Qualifying Visa

Route 1: Visa-Free Entry With A Qualifying Visa

Georgia’s Government Ordinance No. 256 of 5 June 2015 lets holders of a visa or residence permit from a listed country enter without a Georgian visa.

The stay is 90 calendar days in any 180-day period.

The ordinance says the document must be “valid on the day of entry into Georgia”.

The 50-Country List And Who Qualifies

The list includes:

  • the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand
  • Japan, South Korea and Israel
  • the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain
  • all 29 Schengen states
  • Ireland and Cyprus, which sit outside the Schengen area
  • UK territories such as Bermuda, the Cayman Islands and Gibraltar, and the Crown Dependencies of Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man

BusinessToday reported this on 21 May 2025 as a new Indian-passport rule.

It named only the US, UK, Schengen and Japan.

The ordinance text we read lists 50 countries and carries no India-specific condition.

Amendment No. 122 of April 2025 exists, but we could not open its text.

Visas That Do Not Count

An expired visa does not qualify.

A visa from a country outside the list does not qualify.

Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand do not appear in the list we read.

The ordinance does not separate visa categories.

We found no official guidance on a single-entry visa you have already used.

Confirm that case with the Embassy of Georgia in New Delhi on +91 11 4949 6000 before you rely on it.

Route 2: The E-Visa For Everyone Else

The Embassy of Georgia in India says an e-Visa grants “the same right to enter” Georgia as a sticker visa.

It is meant for short-term visitors.

The application needs a passport, a photo and a credit or debit card.

What The E-Visa Does And Does Not Guarantee

The e-Visa gives you the right to present yourself at the border.

The border officer still decides.

The portal lists five original documents to carry, and they are covered below.

Print the approved e-Visa, because the portal describes the process as applying, paying and printing it.

Fee, Stay Length And Validity

Georgia’s official e-Visa FAQ states the fee as US$20 plus a 2% service fee.

That is US$20.40 before any bank charges.

The fee is not refundable if you are denied or never use the visa.

Wego reports a separate US$15 identity check called DuVerify.

We could not confirm that charge on the official FAQ.

The portal says a decision takes “not less than 5 working days”.

It gives a minimum and no maximum.

Do not buy non-refundable tickets before the decision.

Stay length is where sources disagree.

The portal says it is set per passport country and shows “120/30” as an example, meaning 30 days within a 120-day window.

Wego’s April 2026 guide gives that figure for Indians.

IndiGo’s visa page says 90 days within 180.

We could not open an official page with the Indian figure.

Plan to the lower number until your approval shows the days.

One Application Per Traveller

Every traveller needs a separate application, including children.

Your email verification link is valid for 1 hour.

Payment must be made within 5 hours of the email notice.

The portal names Visa and Mastercard only.

The passport must be valid for 3 months beyond the validity period of the visa you request.

It needs 2 free pages and an issue date within the last 10 years.

Georgia Border Check

What Officers Can Ask For

  • Passport, travel purpose proof, accommodation proof, insurance, and financial proof.
  • No official minimum fund amount is listed.
  • Your dates, hotels, and travel purpose must match your documents.
The Insurance Rule That Applies To Both Routes

The Insurance Rule That Applies To Both Routes

Every tourist needs health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000.

It must cover the whole stay, from arrival to departure.

Visit Georgia’s explainer, published 14 January 2026, says the rule took effect on 1 January 2026.

Georgia Today reports it is Decree 602, adopted on 26 December 2025.

The policy can come from a Georgian or foreign insurer, in Georgian or English, on paper or on screen.

It must show the parties, covered territory, subject of insurance, start and end dates, insured risks, coverage limits, and premium and payment terms.

Visa-free entrants are covered by the rule too.

Georgia Today also reports that each person needs a policy in their own name, so a parent’s policy does not cover a child.

The cover.ge insurance agent told Georgia Today that a policy bought on arrival often excludes the first six hours.

We found no published penalty or border-check procedure for the insurance rule.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Ut elit tellus, luctus nec ullamcorper mattis, pulvinar dapibus leo.

Requirements That Are Not Georgian Rules

Some requirements you will read online are not on Georgia’s official pages.

  • Aadhaar and PAN. BusinessToday listed Aadhaar, PAN, six months of bank statements and three years of income tax returns, while Georgia’s FAQ lists only a passport, photo and card for the application.
  • Visa on arrival. We found none for Indians.
  • A fixed bank balance. The portal accepts “sufficient financial means” and names no amount.
  • PCR tests and quarantine. The Embassy of India in Yerevan’s advisory with these rules is dated 15 April 2021, and the current requirement pages we opened list no PCR test.
  • Agent fees. The portal states the Ministry “is not related to any private company” offering e-Visa application services, so an agent’s charge is not a Georgian fee.

Entry Planning

Your Georgia Entry Checklist

  • Check your visa/residence permit eligibility or passport validity before applying.
  • Keep email, Visa/Mastercard, insurance, and travel documents ready for the e-Visa process.
  • Wait for approval, compare stay days with your return date, then print and carry originals.

Mistakes That Cost Indian Travellers Money

  • Assuming a Singapore, Malaysia or Thailand visa qualifies for visa-free entry.
  • Relying on a qualifying visa that has expired by your entry date.
  • Buying non-refundable flights before the e-Visa decision.
  • Missing the 1-hour email window or the 5-hour payment window.
  • Paying with a card that is not Visa or Mastercard.
  • Buying one insurance policy for a whole family.
  • Paying a private agent a fee and treating it as a government charge.
